Eh, Spring 2014? I'm not to sure about that. We only have 17 characters out of 40(?) revealed. I'm guessing the final roster total will be 38 - 42.

I think SM3DW will sadly be the lowest selling 3D Mario game. Too many people think it's a "lazy rehash" (they're obviously blind lol). And people are REALLY upset that this game isn't a Super Mario Galaxy rehash.

What disgusts me is that people say this game is a "rehash" and that they should've made Super Mario Galaxy 3. Those people are flat out hypocrites. Super Mario Galaxy 2 is less original than the NSMB games, and here people what a sequel to the crappy rehash of a game? That amazes me.

What's also hilarious, is that the people who hate SM3DW haven't even played it! XD

Why are people so surprised about this news? Nintendo has always done poorly in the UK. In the US on the other hand; SM3DW outsold the PS4/XB1 launch titles.

I actually like this app. The video quality isn't that bad. But the sound could be better.

@unrandomsam NSMB2 is the most fun game in the NSMB series IMO. However, I find it to also be the worst. It was just a port of the Wii version...

If they do make a Galaxy 3, and it looks the same as Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2, I'm not buying it. Super Mario Galaxy 2 was a lazy rehash like the New Super Mario Bros. games.

Here's what I'm hopping:

I hope they'll make another open world type game like Mario 64, and Sunshine.
I hope they'll stop making 3D Mario sequels.
I hope they'll make a 2D Mario game that isn't a rehash.
I hope they'll discontinue the New Super Mario Bros. series, and the Galaxy series.

I had a feeling that Rosalina would be an unlockable playable character. Anyways, still hyped as ever for this game!

@unrandomsam I thought 3D Land was excellent! However, it was very easy and short, but that doesn't mean it wasn't a fun game. 3D Land is probably the most fun Mario game I've ever played. I got it in 2011, and I'm still playing it. Also this game is more than just a "few tweaks", this game has more new in it than SMG2, NSMB2, and NSMBU (I can tell). "None of the video's I have seen have even had anybody playing it properly." That's their problem, not mine. "No reason to assume it will be better than something that is about as good it gets in its genre (Galaxy)" My opinion, deal with it.

@unrandomsam I don't think this going to be the best becasue of the graphics, I think this is going to be the best in terms of gameplay.

Seriously, there's only 1 new track in that game...

I've heard like 7 new tracks from this game, and I must say; this is probably going to be my favorite Mario soundtrack of all time. The music in this game (at least from the ones I heard) sound absolutely incredible, and EXTREMELY catchy. I'm SOOOO looking forward to listing to the other new tracks in this game. However, they're reusing A LOT of songs from 3D Land (slightly remixed), which ticks me off....

Wow, are they SERIOUSLY reusing music from 3D Land for this game? I don't hate 3D Land's music, but why are they reusing tracks? They've reused the Retro Mario theme, the Boom Boom boss battle theme, the flag pole victory theme when you beat a castle, the victory theme when you beat a boss, the underground music (slightly remixed), castle theme (remixed, and it sounds great), and I also believe they reused the Starman theme as well. Reusing music bothers me A LOT (and sometimes SFX). Don't get me wrong, I'm still EXTREMELY excited for this game, it's just that I don't think this game is going to be new as we think it is.... But I still think this game will be more original than Galaxy 2.

It looks nice but, why are they using 3D Land music for the website (I don't hate 3D Land's music)? That ticks me off.... Use some NEW music from the game to play on the website.

@Funny_Moblin Sunshine was also one of the first games I've ever played. Not everything in Sunshine was shiny, but most (if not all) of the characters were very shiny. I don't think Sunshine is a bad game, but it just didn't really feel like a Mario game to me.
P.S Does that screenshot in the article look shiny to you (minus the metal blocks)?

@Windy So...you're not going to support Nintendo (or buy a Wii U) just because they got rid of a pointless app? if you REALLY want to contact your friends, contact them via Facebook, Twitter, Skype, Cell Phones, e-mails, or Miiverse (which is coming to the 3DS VERY soon..). You say Nintendo is insane, but you're just as insane as they are.

Meh... The reason for closing it down is quite dumb, but I don't care. Swapnote is pointless since we have Facebook, Twitter, Skype, Cell Phones, and e-mails. PLUS we're getting Miiverse on the 3DS soon, which would make Swapnote even more worthless...

Yeah, I agree that the worlds are getting bladder....and the newer 2D Mario games suck hard. But, how can you say this game has "enclosed gameplay" when you haven't even tried the game for yourself? I would like to know why you think they make "uninvented enemies" when the newer enemies are pretty cool and have unique abilities. I don't see how they are "uninvented". I also see you praise Mario Sunshine a lot (I thought the game was "meh"), but you forgot to mention that Mario Sunshine has plastic graphics as well.

One more thing: All because this game is geared towards newcomers, doesn't mean this game isn't going to be challenging. If this game isn't going to be challenging at some point in the later levels, then why did they add the Invincible Super Leaf (which is completely optional, btw). And from what Nintendo has shown from the later levels, they look challenging, but I'll PLAY the game to see for myself.

This soundtrack sounds absolutely incredible so far (from the trailers). I CAN'T WAIT TO GET THIS!

I'll buy X, becasue of the exclusive Pokemon (but I hate the deer).

There's no pleasing you people... Why does everybody have to be SOO negative about EVERYTHING now a days? And if you think this game looks like a rehash, then you must be blind or something IMO. I don't see ANYTHING rehashed. Also, remember when games were about fun, and not the graphics? Anyways, I'm really looking forward to this new Mario experience. Oh, and the screenshots look amazing!

@meltendo The levels in this game have WAY MORE exploration than 3D Land did. If you look at the footage and screenshots, you can see branching pathways, and more land to roam around in.

Glad to see that this game is getting more praise! Anyway, I can't wait much longer for this game! It looks simply fantastic, if not amazing!

I don't like the design's of the starter's evolutions (except for Frokaie's)
Chespin looks like a fat stuffed animal, and I thought it was Pignite when I first saw it.
Fenniken's is the worst. It looks too humanoid, and I can tell its next evolution is gonna be fire/fighting. Not to menttion its dull color scheme.
Frokie's look decent. I love Mega Garchomp's design, I like Mega Mewtwo X's design better than Mega Mewtwo Y's, and I don't like the dinosaur Pokemon. They look like Digimon. Oh, and don't call me a "Genwunner" all because I don't like some of these designs. I don't even like Generation 1. I think Generation 5 is the best generation. And I'm not saying some these Pokemon will "suck" all because I don't like some of their designs.

I voted for 3D World. But I will also be getting DKC:TF, and Sonic Lost World.

Mega Evolutions sounds like a great idea! And the Pokemon's mega forms look surprisingly good, except for Mega Ampharos. It just looks plain lazy. All they did was get Ampharos's design, and added hair on its head and tail. The mouse Pokemon design looks good enough I guess. I don't really care for the others.
EDIT: And no I'm not a "Genwunner". Generation 5 was my favorite.
