@ThomasBW84 Why is this late Thomas??!!!!?? lol jk. Thanks. I was up until the wee hours of the night playing Fire Emblem anyhow. The most addicting game I've ever played. Fire Emblem and Ni no Kuni equals some of the best gaming in my 26 years on Earth and 14 on Omicron Persei 8.
I wish more people outside of Japan played handhelds. In America, and it seems like this is the case in Europe as well, it is like people think gaming is childish, especially handheld gaming. This is NOT the case, whatsoever. There are a plethora of people who would adore games like Animal Crossing but they will never give it a chance and instead play their crappy iPhone and Facebook games. This is why I don't mind games like Wii Fit (even though I don't play them). If it gets someone's foot in the door and opens their eyes to the joys of gaming then that is ok with me.
Edit: It is just amazing to me how many Japanese people love and purchase handhelds and games for them. I need to see this first hand some day...
$39.99-$49.99 would seem more apropos to me, but the Gamecube was during the heyday of my sports life so I never had one... Meaning: I've never played this Zelda entry (one of the few I haven't played) and I'll get this even if it is $59.99.
Some GBA games on the 3DS eShop would be lovely... after all, they are both handhelds. GBA on the Wii U will be great, but I'd rather have them on the 3DS if only one... Let's do both though.
I haven't seen Wally World (walmart) being named anywhere in this delay... Maybe I'll see if they have it and say screw that art book, or just see if one of the gamestop people will give it to me for nothing. I have jedi mind tricks folks.
Awakening will be my first Fire Emblem experience. I've played RPG's for years but just never got into SRPG's until more recently. I need to find a copy of Advance Wars someday...
@ThomasWhitehead Yes! Brownie Brown was a very funny name. It will be missed. All that really matters in the end, to myself and I'm sure yourself as well, is some sweet games!
I don't mind a company doing this, after all it is for the better. At least Two Tribes has it together and cares about those who will be playing their game as well as the game itself.
EA sucks old wrinkly balls. I have been kiboshing them for years and have missed nothing worth crying over. I shed a tear over spilled milk, but never because I missed Madden or Mass Effect. They are the embodiment of what is wrong with video games. I advise you to do the only thing you can to effect this parasite and not give them your hard earned money.
@DarkCoolEdge Those who go as far as to call themselves "hardcore" gamers are what is known as the "vocal minority". Smaller in numbers but more presence on the internet forums, therefore we hear them more often than those who just play video games for fun without really digging into them like we do. There are a lot more of what some might call "casual" gamers in real life.
I've got two of the latest home consoles and both current handhelds, as well as more games than I can count and I would never call myself a "hardcore" gamer. Labels are for tools! Just be.
@Peach64 Agreed. It was the same with Star Fox 3D. While really fun, the magic just wasn't the same and it could have had online. They need to do a new Star Fox game on the Wii U and 3DS that can share saves and stats and whatnot.
@Ryno_Choryzo To encourage more sales, obviously. If the game was $4.99 I would not have gotten it. I'll take a chance on a $1.99 game, and I know a lot of other people feel the same way. Yeah, a few bucks makes a big difference.
One game arrives, and then you are already excited about the next game lol. The 3DS is on a roll right now, it is good to see. The Wii U needs to do the same, and it eventually will I believe. Fire Emblem impressed the heck out of me, (the demo at least, really looking forward to monday!) but I have been waiting for Luigi's Mansion since I bought a 3DS.
Personally, I completely enjoy the 3DS. I'll be picking up a 3DS XL as soon as a color I like or a limited edition version I am interested in gets released. Fire Emblem, Luigi's Mansion, Animal Crossing and one of the Pokemon games are on my list as far as announced games go. I'd LOVE it if they brought Bravely Default: Flying Fairy over seas, as well. I've gone a little handheld crazy with 14 games for my 3DS already...
@rjejr unfortunately the US has never really gone crazy over handhelds like Japan does. I can't speak for the UK, but it seems like nothing sells well there lol.
New Leaf will certainly help sell the already successful 3DS to different types of people here in the US, and I personally can't wait for Fire Emblem and Luigi's Mansion. That Nintendo Direct helped the Wii U for sure, and when the games they announce actually release it will help it even more. Video gaming has and always will be about the games.
"I've had mine pre-ordered since August"... Cool! You and every other Zelda fan with $25 to spare. I've had mine pre-ordered since August of 1986! I win!
Having said that sarcastic comment; I am really looking forward to reading this book. It looks beautiful and informative.
I see a lot of Europeans on this site claiming they want this and that from Nintendo. It is time to put your money where your mouth is. It's the only way any normal citizens can have an impact on a company like Nintendo. The question is why aren't they buying the Wii U and games? The answer to that is long and many, I'm sure. It is hard to say how well a new console is doing until a year after its release though, so I can and will give it some more time before I say "EU ruined the Wii U" (lol that was a joke. I'm sure once more good games come out they will start throwing their money at Nintendo) I love EU so don't take this the wrong way It is just plain old fact that the system and games are not selling well in that region.
I've always had a thing for Nintendo's portables as well. Then last night we got drunk and she made a total @$$ of herself in public. She's not so cute to me any more... lol jk I do and always will love Nintendo portables! I'll be paying video games until the end of my days. They make me happy happy, joy joy.
@CoffeeWithGames Agreed. A lot of sites do that, though. NL is just one of many on the internet. I work in "actual real life media". If we didn't source something we would be fired and possibly sued for plagiarism. I wonder how legit some of these sites actually are, or if it just a couple dudes (and a girl) sitting behind their computers searching the other gaming sites for stories they don't have.... Hmmmm.
No swapping for me. I always get this empty feeling inside when I trade a system lol. They are a part of me. I'd buy this straight up though! I would love that Pikachu XL edition, simply because I had the Yellow GBC back in the day... and still do!
@ThomasBW84 I hear that Thomas! It is a similar instance with Pilotwings Resort. I can find that game for less than $20 in store here in the US. I would love to have that on my SD card for a similar price, but I'm not paying full price for that game.
@Ron Doing reviews for retro games is an exercise in futility to me, especially when one looks at the game with 2013 eyes. Perhaps when stacked up along the likes of similar games of today this score would be apropos, but that is not how many of these games are perceived. One does not say: "Hmm, Balloon Fight or Nintendo Land?" How do you even go about it then? Compare it to games of similar price. For .30 cents, these games are 11's. If I play it for even 1 min I am getting my moneys worth.
I feel bad because I like to support the genre but, I think I'll be skipping both of these games... even though I would get MH4 for 3DS if they localize that in the future. There are just too many great games coming out this year, and a guy has to spend his money wisely in this day and age!
WHEN this comes to NA (I hope I hope I hope) I will pre-order the moment it is announced. I would, and I'm sure many of you out there as well, love a Limited Edition or Collector's Edition.
@Windy You love Europe so much you should just marry it already... lol jk. At least you care about something/someone else other than yourself! Hopefully everyone that would like it gets the game in their territory.
I'm getting the games I like off the list. 30 cents is just... it is a great price. I'll call it that. Let's hope they keep this momentum rolling with some good games on the eShop. (hopes for Earthbound)
@WiiLovePeace You could play two player games off screen. Imagine two players playing Contra, both on the Gamepad while watching their sport of choice on television. I think it sounds pretty cool, and kind of obvious to implement.
I can't decide.... anything! lol. I'm excited for Mario, Mario Kart U, Zelda U, WW HD remake, MonolithSoft's JRPG, Yoshi's Epic Yarn (hehe), the FExSMT crossover.... It was an overall great Nintendo Direct. Every bit of news was good; from the VC and system updates to the plethora of nice games. Even games like Bayonetta 2 and The Wonderful 101 look really cool. Jeez, this was much needed Nintendo.
I'm playing Earthbound right now but... I want it on the VC, please I am very thankful for what they gave us, though. I'll get all of those games to show my appreciation.
@Savino What? It's a good deal for someone who played them a million times too. Timeless games are... timeless. Just like Beatles music, brah.
@Mk_II So we can get that 3 cents that will come through in the clutch... someday... lol
@FundipYoshi I could be way off here (I'm not) but they never legally translated that Fire Emblem game to English. There is no way they would translate a text heavy game like FE and sell it for 30 cents haha. I do want Earthbound though! That is already translated.
@Gamesake What does it matter as long as it's a good game? I'll answer for you: It doesn't. If they are crap though, yeah, they can and should stop. There are a lot of non crossover games that need to stop as well. Looking at you CoD
To those wondering why it was released today instead of the traditional Thursday, I'd say it has everything to do with the PS3 getting this today. @KnightRider666 Agreed! Adding to that, if I may... It being on a dedicated gaming console, being a good game at such a great price never hurts either.
@Rei7 20 games for the Vita, that are actual Vita games? I didn't even know that thing had 20 games out yet. I don't have anything against Sony, I own a PS3 and love it... but they should just walk away from the land of handhelds and leave it to the original masters of right-priced fun. I don't want to play Uncharted on the Vita, but that is just me. I'm not much of a fan of LBP. It's a good game but doesn't do it for me. I don't want to play FPS' on a handheld.
