Sectors of the gaming press would have you believe that Nintendo is in serious trouble. From revised earnings to poor Wii U sales, the outlook isn't as bright as we'd hope.
However, in an statement to investors, Nintendo has issued a bullish assurance that from March onwards, things are going to change:
Beginning in March and continuing through the rest of the calendar year and into 2014, Nintendo will release a cavalcade of strong, fan-favorite software titles for both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. New entries in the Mario Kart, Super Mario, Legend of Zelda, LEGO City, Wii Fit and Pikmin franchises will help Nintendo regain momentum for Wii U.
Additionally, highly anticipated Nintendo 3DS games such as Luigi's Mansion 2 and Animal Crossing: New Leaf have the potential to be hardware drivers and bring new audiences to the platform.
Clearly, a flood of good games is going to make the world of difference to both formats - what are you most looking forward to?

the only game i want/need is Fire Emblem ^_^
Lets hope the old school PAL service we're getting doesn't start going full old school by waiting 2 years or forgetting to release games!
My wallet is only going to be ready for the next week after payday so Nintendo better hurry up!
I am so flooded over New Leaf, it's ridiculous.
Pikmin 3 first and foremost! After that I'm keeping money aside for Wii Fit U, Mario Kart, Zelda WiiU (and Wind Waker HD), Rayman, Lego City Undercover, Injustice (for WiiU) aaaaand that's all I can think of. Maybe Luigi's Mansion 2... but I doubt it... Either way Nintendo, you can count on me and I'm definitely not a fanboy, they just deliver damn good entertainment
My second favourite form of entertainment that is... a nice new shiny green rupee to whoever can succesfully guess the first form.
New Leaf will certainly help sell the already successful 3DS to different types of people here in the US, and I personally can't wait for Fire Emblem and Luigi's Mansion. That Nintendo Direct helped the Wii U for sure, and when the games they announce actually release it will help it even more. Video gaming has and always will be about the games.
@LavaTwilight Fanboy! lol jk. You didn't have to say anything about being one. Like what makes you happy and everything is cool.
And no, I don't want to guess what your favorite form of entertainment is...
Pikmin 3, Wind Waker, Mario Kart
Just give me Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney. That's all.
Nintendo FTW! I will getting Wii Fit U, Mario Kart U, Super Mario U, and Super Smash Bros all on day 1 releases. Also, I will be picking up a 3DS when Pokemon X drops (hopefully with a bundle) *fingers crossed!!
Wii Fit U and Wii Party U here. Hope they will be good. Not interested in crap like Wind Waker HD or Pikmin.
Not worried. I think Nintendo could have planned their launch better in the early going but the future is bright! Pikmin, Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Xenoblade, New Wind Waker, Rayman Legends. It's just going to get better with age. Despite some of the negative press, I think MiiVerse is great and the foundation they've built with the new console is fantastic!
@Mahe yeah,i just want triple A titles like wii fit u and Wii party u. haha
Not saying their bad, but there's still something wrong with that statement.
Can't wait for that sweet new Zelda title. Would also love a Metroid one, but these news are good, nonetheless.
PS: Hey Nintendo, where are the Zelda Oracle games? D: Bring them, along with more GBC titles to the EShop, already! Also, it would be nice if you could somehow arrange the relelase of the Ambassador titles for the GBA as well.
NINTENDO: JUST GIVE A RELEASE DATE FOR ANIMAL CROSSING NEW LEAF NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Still waiting for dates on Pikmin 3 and Animal Crossing Nintendo.
I mean seriously I've been excited for Animal crossing since the first trailer and Pikmin 3 since Miyamoto first said the Wii would work well with the Pikmin franchise in 2007. And here we are, 5 1/2 years later knowing very little of the game besides "HD, 2 new Pikmin, comes out sometime this year"
I just want to give you my money but your recent shenanigans with VC and the lack of these games are making it very difficult to do that.
I need Pikmin 3 and then I will set aside some cash money to get Mario Kart U, 3D Mario U, Legend of Zelda, Super Smash Bros., and Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon. Then I will be happy as can be!!!
Windwaker, Rayman Legends, Monster Hunter U, Animal Crossing for the 3DS
There's about 200 of my hard earned dollars.
Starting with Rayman Legends in Feb, there should quite the streak of good stuff coming up.
Windwaker HD as of right now in regards to Nintendo 1st party titles
After Fire Emblem and Wind Waker HD, I'll be satisfied. Time to work on my backlog in the meantime...
They are relying too much on Mario+Mario Kart+Zelda I'm not complaining, I am a big fan of all of them butthey need, no, have to do something else. Something new and fresh. How long has it been since Nintendo created an IP? And please don't say the Wii (sports, party..etc) line because we all know that's not enough even if they sell like hotcakes.
This is one of the reasons I haven't bought a WiiU yet. I will, but there is nothing new and exciting on the horizon except The Wonderful 101 and I don't see it exciting enough.
I hope they have some tricks under their sleeve.
I can't see any reason to be worried about the 3DS, it's main competition is the Vita. And, oh yeah, X + Y are coming out in Oct. And MH4. What else could it possibly need? No worries there.
The Wii U is sort of fighting the clock though as E3 approaches with the new MS and Sony home consoles being announced which will probably be competition next holiday. And I don't see any dates for system moving games right now as MH3U is sort of a port and I don't see people paying $300 to play Rayman or The Wonderful 101. I know the games are coming, but I also now the clock is ticking.
I have plenty of games I'm looking to get this year but the one I'm waiting for most is Pokemon X.
So....I guess that 3DS remake of Majora's Mask isn't happening?
The real news here is that we may get both 3D Mario and Mario Kart by the end of the year. Nintendo's strongest in the software department and with these games, they could very well bounce back this year, even with impending next gen consoles on the way.
i will have such an orgasm when i first bootup the new animal crossing
@DarkCoolEdge The Wonderful 101 looks good.
He's not seriously implying that the new Super Mario will be revealed at E3 and then released by this Christmas, is he? Because that's exactly the sort of thing that people who AREN'T Nintendo do...
Please, please let this happen.
So tired of Nintendo having to explain themselves. Let the games do the talking.
Been looking forward to Luigi's Mansion for a while now and have that pre-ordered. Pre-ordered Lego City with my Wii U. Definitely looking forward to the Wind Waker re-release, and seeing some new screens/ video of the new Zelda. Mario Kart I don't mind waiting for since MK7 and Sonic & AllStars Racing are still getting lots of gameplay on my systems, but I'm dying to see whats goin' on for the new 3d Mario. Still waiting for some more info on Game & Wario, but that's looking like a probable purchase.. Pikmin 3, Rayman, Project Cars, NFS, Yoshi... plus we know theres the inevitable announcements for Metroid, Maro Party.... Plus Virtual Console... gonna be LOTS to throw money at. And I can't wait
new mario kart and zelda would be good and a proper fifa game to play on pad not 13 thats actually fifa 12 called 13.
I'm looking forward to Pikmin 3 most, of course
Think that Europeans are existing!
Please begin giving us Cave story +, Nightsky, Nano assault EX on 3DS.
I want on both Wii U and 3DS :
F-Zero (HD)
New metroid or metroid prime remake or better on 3DS with stylus use or super metroid HD or/and with stereoscopic 3D
Zelda A link to the past HD or/and with stereoscopic 3D
New StarFox 64
New Donkey kong 64
...
There is a lot of games to do but Nintendo needs time to do these games, I will be patient and wait, I hope that games will come one day
Begin by delivering Games which are in US and Japan market as quick as possible : But I still have some (if not many) games to play or finish Pandora tower, mass effect 3, la-mulana; and I replay F-Zero GX, super metroid, metroid prime, mario kart 7, bit trip runner, muramasa ...
So in conclusion Nintendo take your time to make good games like other people I will support you.
I hope to get the new Smash Bros. and Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed for 3DS. Also I want to try to save up for a Wii U after I get my first laptop.
@John-San3 says it all ! Bring the Ambassador titles for the GBA to the 3ds.
Why nintendo sits on all this great ild content.... They really do hate money.
To infinite....AND BEYOND!!!
Yay! Luigi's Mansion 2 and Animal Crossing... Nearly 3 years later. When was the last time a "new" 3DS game was announced? If it weren't for the eShop I'd probably never use my 3DS.
And dude, Nintendo, Luigi's Mansion 2 isn't going to bring new audiences to the 3DS... a sequel to a cult "classic" of a game who's purpose inadvertently made early GameCube adopters crave that absent Mario launch title even more. Yeah, no I don't see it.
@Neram Luigi's Mansion sold 3'6 millions of copies in a console with a smaller base than what 3DS has right now. It looks appealing enough to me.
Looking forward to Animal Crossing on the 3DS and the new Wario Kart on the Wii U.
2013 is really going to hit its stride once we reach March. Can't wait!
Seems to me the newest hottest online multiplayer game going on here right now is guess the date!!!!
Pretty sure the last Nintendo Direct already showed us that things are only looking up from this point on.
I could say so. I don't have a Wii U yet because there nothing interesting for it yet. Most of those titles mentioned would surely convince to finally get one, along with Smash Bros.
I'm still waiting for a f-zero/star fox announcement.
No worries, patience is certainly a virtue! In the meantime, go read a book, take on some fixer-upper projects around the house or, like totally OMG, take a class or two at the 'ol community college!
I'm looking forward to Fire Emblem most, and I know that that will take me a LONG while to beat. After that, I'll attempt to find a new copy of Xenoblade Chronicles, and hold out for New Leaf and then wait until Pokemon Y comes out.
Pokémon X!
I choose you, Fennekin...
What i am looking forward to is Monster Hunter Freedom 3 for 3DS.Its supposed to be released sometime in March.
There is some concern for the Wii U, but I'm sure it'll get out of it's rut and have some good software and at worst 'decent' sales.
I don't find any reason to be worried/concerned about the 3DS. It already has a nice library of games and this year is definitely the year of the 3DS.
I really want to hear something about an F-Zero and a Starfox.
and a Metroid, but that it pretty much guaranteed at some point.
WE ARE GOING TO SAID THIS ONE LAST TIME BATTALION WARS 3 AND STAR FOX WII U SHOULD COME TOO THE WII U
nintendo should bring out all the Zelda games out in HD for the WiiU
Just start giving me some dates, Nintendo! March is closing in and theres still no dates for Wii Fit, Pikmin 3, or Animal Crossing. I must know!
Capcom should bring out all the Resident evil games and Devil may cry games in HD for the WiiU
Would be great if this included VC as well.
I'm looking forward to the next Super Mario and Mario Kart games for the Wii U, as well as Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon. Go get 'em, Nintendo!
Monster Hunter both versions is the only thing that's a must have for me at this point in time. I would like a 3DS Metroid or Zelda this year.
Funny how they have to contantly remind people of the popularity of their brands. True Nintendo fans already know good things are coming cause we all watched that Nintendo Direct.
Well, it's good to hear i guess...but we all knew those games were coming anyway (there was always a high likelihood one of the Zelda games would get the HD treatment to pass the time..)
To me and a lot of others i guess, i'd like to see some 'new' entries from older overlooked games from the NES/SNES era, or perhaps a new franchise or two before getting overly exited. While there were good games for the Wii, it seems as though there are less and less games being released with every new console. Aside from the announcement of Bayonetta 2 exclusivity, there's nothing announced so far that's really make me sit up and take serious notice.
I dunno, I just wish they had teams dedicated to making 'smaller scale' downloadable titles that don't take 3 or 4 years to make, so there could be more titles on offer... I would think that with pretty fierce competition in the console and mobile gaming space...not to mention the relative affordability of PC gaming (as compared to the past), this system will suceed or fail purely based on the quality of 1st/3rd party 'exclusives', and having a steady/diverse flow of them. The novelty of the screen gamepad isn't enough to carry it this time, as the motion controls carried the wii.
I want them all, and i want them now!
I'm excited for Super Mario Universe, as long as it is as grand as I think it will be, & that levels return to having no time limit (except for some challenges levels) unlike Super Mario 3D Land. That's the main reason I love the 3D Super Mario games, because I can just wonder around & take in the sights & sounds of a grand adventure. I also hope for a hub world & Rosalina to make a come back but I won't hold my breath on those requests. Full multiplayer with Luigi on the gamepad & Mario on the TV would be nice, though I'd probably never use it.
As for Mario Kart U I hope for 40+ tracks, heaps of characters & lots of customisation & of course DLC made after release. Oh & I hope it is released more towards the end of the year just because I expect by then I'll be over playing Sonic Transformed & hence ready for a new racing game
I'm also quite excited for Wind Waker HD. It looks to be really amazing graphically, as long as its not too expensive. $20 eShop only game is my preference. & I'm also pumped for LEGO City & Pikmin 3, don't know when I'm going to buy those though I will get them eventually.
@DarkCoolEdge Acid Ghost?
"He's not seriously implying that the new Super Mario will be revealed at E3 and then released by this Christmas"
@DerpSandwich Why not?? Usually Nintendo will hold on to a big mario game all the way til the Holiday season so it flies off the shelves... if they wait until after they will hurt their holiday sales... putting a 3d Mario game on the shelves just in time for the holidays will ensure Nintendo will have a smashing good year. More people are buying stuff for their children, and having the most Iconic mascot in all of video gaming on the shelf will move far more Wii U's... if they don't put it out there in time for Christmas, they are missing out on the best sales opportunity of the year.
Full multiplayer with Luigi on the gamepad & Mario on the TV would be nice, though I'd probably never use it.
@WiiLovePeace What about online CO-OP with strangers with full voice chat as well?
Nintendo is known to blow peoples mind with every iteration of 3D Mario. Multiplayer 3D Mario game would do exactly that.
