"It's hardly a crushing blow, if we're honest - NFC is exciting, but there's plenty of time for developers to really explore what they can do with it. In the meantime, we have lots of lovely launch games to keep us busy." - Agreed Damien. There is plenty of time for that to come and go ;D
Anyone who buys one just to sell is a term that basically breaks down to "vaginal wash bag". Yup, I'm talking to you. Get a life. Hopefully no one will be dumb enough to pay twice the amount of the retail price and let these fools drown themselves in extra Wii U's. Have fun!
@bahooney that is like.... Your... Opinion....Man. The only image I see is creative and innovative fun. I don't care if it is for kids or for 26 year olds. Fun is fun
I think it is more likely than one might think, especially since, as you noted, Chinatown Wars was released on the DS. Having said that, I still take this with a grain of salt. It's on the internet, after all.
@vonseux how do you know the game is crap? lol do you have a time machine or are you some industry insider? I think I can answer those questions for you. You don't, no you do not and no you are not
Gamers need to remember this: (and Nintendo needs to make it crystal clear) external hard drives are compatible, and it seems like some form of SD cards might be as well... So when you boil it down, it doesn't really matter what model you get. External memory is getting less and less expensive. I actually applaud them for letting the people choose how much storage space they want/need rather than adding more cost to the system itself. Sure, one has 8GB and the other has 32GB, but the difference really has a lot to do with the add-in stands and whatnots, Nintendo Land, as well as the deal Deluxe model owners get on eShop purchases
Even further back than the DS and Wii's connectivity is the GBA and GameCube's, so it's not like Sony is doing something new. Furthermore, not everyone will have both of the systems; the Vita is overpriced right now. I'm not saying that Sony's things aren't cool, the Vita/PS3 connectivity is just not the same at all. It's more akin to the DS/Wii's. Good article NL. I have to agree with pretty much all of the reasons to buy. To conclude; the Sun can go F off
While his opinion could come to fruition, I am more of the thought that developers will be more apt to create for the Wii U because of its (I surmise) large install base, wallet friendly price, and innovative gameplay... especially if the next-gen systems are over $500-$600. I am not going to even think about buying a system that is over $600. That is ridiculous. It is basically a gamer meme these days but it is still a fact - the next-gen systems are not going to be as much as a technical jump as the last gen... So what is the point in paying that much more for... not that much more? Games - that is the ONLY reason. Toki Tori is awesome but... I'm not going to buy a system for a game like that. Sorry. Beyond that, if I was the CEO of Two Tribes this guy would get fired so fast his head would spin. Based ONLY off of this man making my company look bad to both Nintendo fans and Nintendo itself. I could care less what he thinks, opinions are a dime a dozen, even less these days, I'm just putting myself in the boss man's shoes.
@hydeks agreed. It's a bummer Rare is no longer the secondary weapon for Nintendo, but the levels Retro created or re-created in Mario Kart 7 were great, the Metroid Prime games are great and are still fun, and Donkey Kong Country Returns is one of the best 2.5D platformers of the past 5 years
I am a lover, not a fighter. Having said that... If I ever came across this Pachter inch-brained moron, I'd punch him right in his douchey mug. All he does is hate on Nintendo. It's like Nintendo slept with his mom when he was a kid and he walked in on her riding the bologna pony. Sure, nobody really knows how this Wii U will do (except me, I have a time machine), but one thing I know for sure is this: If the Wii U is great fun, you can bet word of mouth will be the best promotion Nintendo can ever ask for. Nintendo fans will have no shame telling their friends how much fun they are having with it, if everything turns out good that is
This ZombiU edition would be a cool pack-in for America with the Pro Controller, but what can a little guy like me do? Acquire more power!!!! xD Having said that, I am truly happy for my European friends. Japan gets a sweet deal with that Monster Hunter edition, as well. I do not know whether to pre-order this ZombiU game or wait until some reviews come out. What a tough decision trying to find out what games to get at launch. This is like my "Decision 2012"
@Koto - No lol my bad. Sorry I might have worded that a little vaguely. It says Pikmin 3 - Nintendo *North America. Does that mean it is only coming out in North America for now? I don't understand
Does anyone know why Pikmin 3 is North America only for the "launch window"? Just wondering. I live in NA so it's not a problem, but I am sure the Eastern crowd loves that game as much if not more than the Western crowd.
Cool bundle EU bros! This game does seem really fun, and overall good (pending more research) but as @19Robb92 said, I'd rather get the Nintendo Land premium pack if I had a choice. In fact, I just pre-ordered it an hour ago Japan's bundle is neat to me as well, since I already have MH Tri and I am kind of wavering on 3 Ultimate....
Excellent article Gaz. I especially enjoyed the Wii U ideas. I would love to get into this series from the beginning, so an HD collection of each trilogy on Wii U would be great. Is the Ace Attorney HD collection heading West?
It would be great to have the GBA games, but I think this is the NES version, after some copious research. Still, every single time I fill out a VC survey I say something about GBA games. Perhaps they read those? Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps
@Windy, BXXL, and a lot of others... If you want a "robust online experience", you are probably better served elsewhere, although the Wii U's will be much better than the Wii's. If you want innovation and creativity, as well as forward thinking gameplay ideas, Nintendo is certainly the way to go. It almost seems as though you play Nintendo games just for the name, where as you should be playing them because they are fun to you. I am not hating on you, or anything like that, just stating what I see. If you can only find ten or so games on a system that you enjoy, and you want more than that... Why would you buy that system BXXL? Again, I don't say this is a derogatory way, I am just asking. Same question to you and the online games Windy. If you like online play, competitive or co-op (which I do not) you should probably research XBOX or Sony. I am just saying. I respect the way Nintendo goes about business a lot more than the way Microsoft and Sony do, and that comes with age and knowledge. I don't dislike those other companies though, I play PS3 often, maybe just as much as Wii and the games I found for the system that I like, my "must haves", if you will. No one tells me what I "must have" though BXXL, I agree with you there. Basically the moral of my story is this; Don't stick with a company because you feel like you have to for whatever reason, because that is what your friends play, you had that console last generation, ect... they do not really care about you, just your money. Play what makes you happy and what you enjoy. You will have a lot less complaining to do. If money is no object, multiple systems is always the way to go
Possibly needless to say, but I'd rather play a Wave Race title for the 3DS. Most iOS and Android games, even when given a "facelift", seem cheap cheap to me. It could be worth a buck or two though
I don't have any expectations, because they usually lead to being let down. Having said that, a price and a release date would be nice. Are they planning on streaming Reggie "my body is ready" Fils-Aime's hour long or so presentation? I have not heard anything yet, just wondering if anyone here has. I enjoy the site, thanks!

Re: Feature: Nintendo's Celebrity Commercials - The Good, Bad and Cringeworthy
The Robin Williams one is great. The other two "good" ones are mostly "good" because of the pretty faces
Re: Why the White 3DS XL Didn't Ship to Europe or North America
I'm holding out for a more "professional" looking color. Black is the most likely, but I actually would love a White 3DS
