Re: Junichi Masuda Releases Official Statement About Limiting Sword And Shield's Pokédex

Alber-san

@RadioHedgeFund
Yet every single Pokemon except for 4 of them got a vote, and every single evolutionary line was voted as someone's favourite. No matter what they do someone will be missing his favourite Pokemon. In addition, that poll only asked for one favourite Pokemon, when in reality everyone has several mons they like. So the list isn't entirely accurate.

Not only that but the mentality of "it doesn't affect me so why should I care" is very problematic. "Why do people complain about cosmetic microtransactions if they don't afffect gameplay and I won't buy them" has led to microtransactions being the norm in certain developers. The Battlefront franchise has been ruined because of them. Now GF can use the missing Pokemon as a selling point for new games. Every game has less features than the one before, while retaining the same models and animations, and now, the games are more expensive. If that's where you want the franchise to go then go ahead and buy the games, but it's normal for people to not be happy with it.

Re: Soapbox: Why Sword And Shield's Pokémon Purge Will Benefit Everyone

Alber-san

@JaxonH
The Pokemon fanbase would be happy if Game Freak lived up to expectations, which aren't that demanding. We want a game that is up there with the top Nintendo franchises in quality, animations, gameplay and innovation. You say adding all 1000 Pokemon would use up a lot of development time. The problem with this is that we aren't seeing how that development time has been put to use in Sword and Shield. Granted, the game isn't put yet, but the models are the same as those in Sun and Moon, animations are the same or barely upgraded, the new gimmick is Pokemon getting big and the open area doesn't seem as interesting as, say, Xenoblade Chronicles 2. These points only make it seem like GF isn't cutting Pokemon to increase quality or because they don't have time, but because they can't bother to actually introduce all mons. And when we're talking about the biggest franchise in the world, this is unacceptable.

Re: Pokémon's Junichi Masuda Explains The Decision To Limit Sword And Shield's Pokédex

Alber-san

The problem I have with this explanation is that they already had the Pokemon prepared for future games, with HD models and even running animations. The moves shown until now look practically the same as before too.
As for balancing, why not just ban pokemon from online play until they are ready? That way everyone will have their Pokemon in the game and have the assurance that one day they'll be usable online.
They could also delay the game, nobody is mad at animal crossing for doimg so because we know that means it'll be a better game. It's so frustrating to see so many franchises like Zelda, Animal Crossing, Mario, Mario Maker, Smash, etc evolve into amazing games yet Pokemon takes one step forward two steps back.

Re: Bandai Namco Might Be Releasing Existing Physical Games With Download Codes

Alber-san

@Paraka
I feel like in the case of books it´s different tho. Part of the experience of reading a book is turning the pages and looking at paper instead of a screen all the time. With video games the experience is the video game, the cartridge or disk has no importance.

@namtab78
Yeah, that is a good point, hadn´t thought about that. I guess when a digital only future happens then people will start offering ROMs of the games that no longer exist. The problem with that is legal issues right now but if that´s solved then there´ll be no problem to do so.

However I don´t really want to argue against physical media, I still buy physical games as well as digital, what I´m saying is that in the future when all games are digital, this will be the solution for exposure in stores and people who buy physically to display their games.

Re: Bandai Namco Might Be Releasing Existing Physical Games With Download Codes

Alber-san

@GrailUK
But the product is the video game, not the cartridge. So they're still making the product. And why do people want physical if it's not for display purposes? There's literally 0 advantages to having a cartridge over a digital version of the game (and I know technically you don't own a digital version of the game but no company is ever going to take it away from every user)

Re: Talking Point: Do We Still Need Review Scores?

Alber-san

Scores are absolutely necessary. There are thousands of games out there and not everyone has the time to read them all. Having a review score means one can check if the gane is good or not. Then the reader has the choice to read the review if they're interested. Changing numbers to "I like it" or "you should buy it" is absurd because it ends up meaning the same thing: how good the game is.

Re: Soapbox: Why I Prefer Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate To World

Alber-san

@saintayu
Monster Hunter has one of the best communities in any video game franchise... why don't you find it appealing? Or did I misunderstand you?

@Saego
100 hours in each game isn't really that much in MonHun so clearly you weren't enjoying them that much. I never found gathering items so necessary that I had to actively prepare for it, at least in the early stages. You sure you were playing them correctly?(jk) What I mean to say is that people who loved old MH will prefer GU while you clearly only accepted them as decent games.

Re: Shigeru Miyamoto Urges Game Developers To Embrace Subscription-Based Services

Alber-san

@BinaryFragger
Problem is, people payed for Online on PS4 and Xbox while almpst noone bought the WiiU. At the same time people hated Nintendo's Online saying it's laggy and faulty. It's then logical for Nintendo to assume people have no problem with paying for online (which is true because PS qnd Xbox are allowed to charge for it) and actually prefer it.

Re: Review: Bad North (Switch eShop)

@Whalehome
There is a certain number of waves for each island. I've only played in 6 islands for now but the matches are pretty short.

@Pod
I have only been playing for a little while but from what I've gathered islands do get increasingly difficult. Whenever you defend or flee an island you unlock new ones. Fleeing, however does not reward you with coins to upgrade your troops. You gain new troops when you defend specific islands.

Re: Video: Massing Around in Morphies Law on Switch

Alber-san

@panthro
Well duh. That's why the name is Morphies Law and not Murphy's Law, because it has nothing to do with the latter. The idea of the pun is to make a fun name for the game, not sure why you think it should have anything to do with Murphy's Law.

Re: Gear.Club Unlimited 2 Revealed Exclusively For Nintendo Switch

Alber-san

I really liked the first one (still have to finish it) but will probably wait for a sale unless they upgrade it significantly. If someone hasn't played the first one I suggest trying the second one. Despite its shortcomings its decently fun.

BTW in the YouTube description it says that the first one is the most successful racing game on Switch (I guess not counting MK8Dx). Makes one wonder how much these mobile port doomsayers actually know about the gaming industry.

Re: Nintendo Has Sold Over 700 Million Video Game Consoles To Date

Alber-san

Interesting to see Playstation sold aproximately as many Home Consoles as Nintendo sold Portables (same number of different consoles too). Really goes to show where each company excels and that there really is a market for both handhelds and home consoles. It'll be interesting to see how the Switch is affected by this and how much it'll sell.

Re: DOOM Eternal On Switch Will Target 30fps

Alber-san

@ramu-chan
No, you're the one grasping at straws saying that a difference between 60fps and 30fps is so noticeable it makes the Switch version vastly inferior and not even taking into account the portability aspect of the console which might not be worth it to you, but totally justifies the existence of this version. The PS4 and Xbox versions are objectively inferior to the PC version and offer no advantages over it (while the Switch version does), so by your logic, shouldn't exist.
