@ElRoberico Insane hype usually leads to disappointment, the opposite of inflated review scores. Cyberpunk was a disaster and just reviewed ok. I don’t know if you’ve ever played a FromSoftware game before but the hype for this is very real.
@BenAV I understand you’re not talking about other third person games but ultimately it’s not different enough from other third person games for touch controls to be the ONLY way for KI:U to be playable.
@BenAV It’s basically a 3rd person shooter. There are plenty of games just like it on console. Yes, it probably won’t control as well but it would definitely work fine. Switch also has more buttons so one button could be mapped to make a quick and smooth 180 degree turn.
It’s a shame they’re continuing the Niantic partnership beyond Pokémon Go. There have literally always been several game breaking bugs at any given moment throughout PoGo’s history. It’s also somehow one of the greediest F2P mobile games I’ve ever played. How a game can make a billion dollars a year every year since launch and still not function is beyond comprehension. Hopefully Nintendo helps Niantic out this time because I’m interested in this project and all PoGo is missing is that Nintendo polish.
@BenAV What’s stopping Nintendo from changing the control scheme? The Switch has two joysticks, problem solved. I loved that game on 3DS and would be even happier if I had it on my Switch.
@mariomaster96 What were you even watching? It looked so much better than SS. Of course there are technical problems, it’s a whole year away. When it comes to Gamefreak there’s plenty to criticize without people inventing problems.
@KillerBOB lol this is one of the few times I’ve seen anyone say bad things about Reggie. I think he was just trying to politely decline Kanye’s request, not trying to state the real reason they couldn’t work with him.
Pokémon obviously doesn’t get the AAA treatment it deserves. What I can say is that this is the most fun I’ve had in the VGC format ever... but I know that opinion is controversial too. Fingers crossed for gen 9 but not holding my breath.
I agree 30% is a little steep but also Apple provides the platform for you to release your software on. Don’t like it? Make your own hardware. Or release it on all platforms and give players incentives to spend on platforms that don’t take such a high percentage. Despite liking and owning Apple products I do agree they’re a little greedy but I’m not invested in either outcome here. I would however like to see game streaming service apps on iOS though. That’s probably Apple’s worst and most outdated App Store policy at the moment.
Very stupid. These rancid, unhealthy “energy drinks” were already encouraging bad gaming behaviors and now stifling the very industry they infected over a sound we can make with our mouths. This is somehow both literally and figuratively cancerous.
@Dezzy What other consoles have you had to tear the controller apart just to get it to work? I love Nintendo and (almost) everything they do but this is ridiculous. Joycons are also the most expensive controllers yet so that’s extra insulting.
@BrintaPap I’m no fan of rumors like this, it warps expectations. But to be fair Nintendo has been completely silent about anything first party for months so what else are they supposed to write about?
It’s about time. Some of these hacked Pokémon are so obviously hacked with moves they can’t learn or impossible stats. How hard is it really to make an app that can identify “impossible” Pokémon if I can do it off the top of my head?
This is the kind of crap Niantic pours their money into instead of the actual game itself. There’s literally always some new game breaking bug every month but they make OVER $1 BILLION WITH A B every year. Stop the microtransactions!
I assumed it would be a bad idea to have any kind of expectations for this announcement but they still managed to disappoint. That takes serious skill.
@Harmonie Let’s Go has sold 12 million copies which is more than Crystal’s 6 million, Emerald’s 6, Platinum’s 7, Black/White 2’s 8 and Ultra Sun/Moon’s 9. I wouldn’t be surprised if Let’s Go became a series that would replace the core series’ remakes and sequels because it has sold better than all of them except Yellow and Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire. But to be clear I really hope my prediction is wrong.
@Harmonie I’m with you but unfortunately Let’s Go sold way too well for them to just drop it. I do feel it’s too early to announce this or Sinnoh remakes though so I am personally hoping for Pokken Tournament 2.
I like how a lot of the same few Pokémon you used to see on every single competitive team are gone for now. This meta does feel fresh at the very least but this is still a poor excuse to cut the National Dex. Just make Galar Dex the only Pokémon you can use in competitive battles to make a more focused meta. I understand making almost 1000 catchable Pokémon in one game is ridiculous and I am not as disappointed with the National Dex cut as I thought I would be BUT I do still wish I could transfer literally any Pokémon I wanted to my copy of Shield. I’ve been transferring some between games for well over a decade now and I’ll miss them.
@Xansies Are we looking at the same thing? They aren’t simply blown up. Everything revealed today looks different than their regular models. I agree that Gigantimax models might take a little less time than a completely different Pokémon but I still don’t understand Gigantimax Meowth. Who is going to use that after the first few gyms? I hope I’m wrong though...
I’m not a fan of Gigantamaxing at all. They can’t take the time to add every Pokémon but they took the time to add altered forms for pre-evolved Pokémon... for three turns... in select battles. I just don’t understand. Hopefully when I’m actually playing the game I’ll enjoy it.
@Tao The whole point is to catch them all so of course everyone gets access to all legendaries. And if someone wants to spend countless hours soft resetting their game trying to get a shiny then it is well deserved.
Using balance as an excuse to leave out half the Pokémon is the absolute worst excuse they could have made up. I don’t expect every single Pokémon to be catchable, there are too many. If it really was about balance then make the several hundred they do choose to include in the regional dex the only ones that can be used in tournaments and online play. That’s is perfectly acceptable. Also dynamax is really stupid. Oooo... large Pokémon. Even Z moves were cooler. I want to like this generation so hopefully as they show us more it will catch my interest again.

@bluemage1989 It’s been datamined. That’s not at all the same thing as “speculative”.

@Rika_Yoshitake Yes Switch is breaking records. Yes Switch sales are expected to start dwindling this year. Both can be true. Doesn’t mean the Switch is doing bad though, just means sales have seemingly peaked. Pretty easy to understand graph is attached in the article. https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2021/08/talking_point_nintendos_business_remains_strong_but_is_the_bloom_off_switch_lite

@BenAV Yeah you’re right, no other 3rd person game ever created can be played with a controller. Great take.
