Re: Shigeru Miyamoto Discusses Future Cross-Platform Development as an "Opportunity" for Nintendo

The first one was to point out as to why I think Nintendo decided to link one account per console and not what everybody else is asking that they want to download their games on multiple consoles tied to their account.

On the VC cross buy issue, Nintendo just implemented NNID this gen on the Wii U and 3DS. It's still new. They can possibly implement cross buy this gen but I can see them implementing it on the next gen to avoid the complications of refunding/alienating those who already bought same games on their 3DS and Wii U. It's just a hunch but I hope they will implement cross buy in the future.

As for Sony, they profit from PS+ subscriptions beside from game sales so they're more flexible. They can offer cross buy without losing anything. Should Nintendo also offer subscriptions? For me I don't know. But I don't want to be forced to pay just to access some basic features such as online play, chat, miiverse, etc. So unless Nintendo does it better, no I don't want Nintendo to offer subscriptions.

The problem with that is some people would buy a lot of Nintendo handheld consoles and home consoles and load it with a lot of VC and eshop games under 1 account and sell it at a higher price for profit. I think that's what Nintendo is avoiding. Unless they implement some kind of DRM on accounts (which isn't widely accepted) then cross buy could work. Nintendo mainly profits on their software sales so they'd want to protect that. (Although they are open for liscensing their IPs now).

In iOS and Android it works fine because they don't profit mainly from software royalties but with either hardware (for Apple), ads, music store, etc as well. Plus if you remove the account on a phone or tablet, the games and apps will be removed as well. And you don't want to sell phones and tablets pre-loaded with paid games and apps while they can access the account's emails and other accounts.

Also Pullblox World is a "different" game from Pullblox on 3DS. They have different architecture/OS. What's the same is if you buy a game or app on Android Play Store in your Nexus 4 and you CAN download it freely on your Nexus 5 (or in appStore in your iPhone 4 to your iPhone 5)

I think it's good to buy digitally now with NNID already in place. I think our purchases especially VC games will carry over on the successor of the Wii U/3DS provided they are Nintendo published games.

I can't really find the right word honestly so I settled for "emotional". It's like I get emotionally involved with how the character would probably have felt coupled with the mood that the music brought. I was also inspired in some way. I was 7 In SMB1, I was like "okay I saved the princess. I'll make another run." But in SMB3, it was different the first time. I think after that I went looking for my first real world princess.

Watching the ending again made me feel what I've felt 25 years or so ago. But it's funny thinking about it now.

Cool. Though I'm not hyped on this game. I personally prefer if we get a monster hunter-like game playable with zelda characters. And Samus, and Kid Icarus, Bayonetta, Fire Emblem chars and ... wait. Super Smash Hunters?! LOL

Seriously what turns me off in this game are the hordes of enemies which is just there so there's something to slay. Sure you can increase the difficulty but it doesn't really change anything. I still think it will become boring after a few hours of gameplay.

LOL. I love it! My favorite and the best Super Mario game ever! It has also the best music among Super Mario games that blend well with the game (it felt right and good).

This is also one of the first 2 games that I went emotional when I was a kid (when I saved Princess Peach). the other game was Tsuru Pika Hagemaru: Mezase! Tsuru Seko no Akashi on the last scene before the final boss fight.

@Kirk regarding the unified account system.

I think Nintendo wanted it to be tied to one console only to avoid piracy or others making a profit selling Wii Us at a higher price filled with digitally downloaded games from one source account.

I think it's good to buy digitally now with NNID already in place. I have high hopes that our purchased Nintendo published games on the eShop will carry over to the successor of the Wii U provided we are using the same Nintendo Network ID. It could still be tied to one system by then.

Didn't you think Nintendo considered 2 or more gamepads support before they've finalized the product? It's impossible they didn't. It's just not feasible. Most of us Wii U owners and even non-WiiU owners have thought or wondered about it at some point about having 2 gamepads. It's a no-brainer it could have been more expensive. There are a lot to consider than by just including multiple gamepads support. Any console maker will aim to sell their consoles as cheaper as possible to attract buyers even selling it at a lost. We all know that.
Two gamepads are still possible on the Wii U. But I'm betting next gen will surely support it if they are still including the gamepad on their vision on the next console.

I couldn't wait for the review before I left. I'm glad I didn't buy it. Anyway, there was a pacman I've played on the PC back in the 90s. It was Halloween-themed with graves scattered in the maze. I did like it and the graphics looked similar to one of the pacman games in the GBA collection.

I don't think the Wii U will be able to handle 2 gamepads for resource-hungry games. MK8 couldn't even handle gamepad + TV without affecting frame rate and/or resolution. It could work for party games like Nintendo Land but it's just a waste of time for the developers and for Nintendo. They need to focus on making games first for what we have now.

Although I could see it possibly being implemented on the Wii U's successor.

I'd like them to sell an extra gamepad though just in case we break our gamepads.
