Veteran developer Rare celebrated its 35th anniversary in 2020. The British studio may be owned by Microsoft these days, but its back catalogue of brilliant games on Nintendo systems mean it will forever be associated with Nintendo in our hearts and minds.

The company, a second party Nintendo developer from the mid-'90s, bolstered (and rivalled) the platform holder's first-party offerings with an array of classics and cult favourites, including the Donkey Kong Country series, GoldenEye 007 and Perfect Dark, Banjo-Kazooie, Conker's Bad Fur Day, and--of course--It's Mr. Pants.

We’ve put together a little quiz to test your knowledge of Rare’s history and output throughout the Nintendo years. You’ll find brain-teasers covering the 8-bit NES era through SNES and N64 up to the GameCube.

So, let’s see how much you know about Rare(ware)…

How Well Do You Know Rare And Its Nintendo Games?

The answer is Chris & Tim.

Chris and Tim Stamper began their careers working on arcade boards before starting their own company, Ashby Computers and Graphics, in 1982. They helmed Rare from its inception until 2007, five years after the company was acquired by Microsoft.
