The upcoming Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order features a large cast of super heroes and villains that even non-fans of comics have come to know (if not love) over the years. These larger-than-life figures have starred in dozens of Hollywood blockbusters over the past two decades or more, culminating recently with the cinematic crossover extravaganza Avengers: Endgame, which we're sure you probably caught wind of a few weeks back.

Over E3 2019 we received some lovely promo art from Nintendo for most of the 34 playable characters in the upcoming Switch exclusive, so we've collected them here for your enjoyment. There are even more characters in the game, including 27 bosses, 11 non-playable characters and more coming as DLC after the game launches on 19th July (including the Fantastic Four, plus more Marvel Knights and X-Men).

As a bonus we've also included a comparison picture of each character's most recent/famous live-action incarnation. We'll let you decide for yourselves if Team Ninja has taken inspiration from the live-action versions or stuck squarely to the source material, but some of the results are interesting, especially considering the criticism Square Enix's Avengers game has come in for over its depictions of Marvel's finest.

Without further ado, we kick things off with the King of Wakanda. Excelsior!
