I'm still hopeful for Sharla to show up in this game some how, she was my favorite character to play as in Xenoblade Chronicles. Anyways I'm still hoping for someone from Golden Sun, though with Isaac deconfirmed it doesn't look likely.

Still hoping for OOT goodness with Saria, Darunia, Ruto, Impa, and Nabooru playable... oh and Ralph from Oracle of Ages if Nintendo has the rights to him. Maybe Din or Nayru from the Oracle games as well... And I can't help but notice how few male characters there are in legend of zelda as I make my list.

The reason backwards compatibility did not occur in Gen III is due to the fact that the way pokemon were stored as data was completely revamped (i.e. DVs were dropped in favor of IVs, personality values etc.). Types and evolutions are stored in tables in the game, not within each Pokemon, so there has been no evidence that backwards compatibility will not be available.

I love my UK copy of Last Window: The Secret of Cape West. In general though, the few games I want that are Japan exclusive (AAI2, Ace Attourney vs. Professor Layton, Touch Detective 3), are pretty much unplayable as I don't know Japanese.

About how creating a zelda game in this style is a bad idea, look at Majora's Mask (to Ocarina of Time), and the Oracle games (to Link's Awakening DX). Both were created using huge amounts of existing assets, and in far less time then usual for a Zelda game. They also are both well recieved. It could be possible for the Standalone DLC route to work for the series.
