Dementium: The Ward and its sequel Dementium II stand out as two of the most unusual games to appear on the family-friendly Nintendo DS, and earned a large following of fans thanks to their mature themes and use of horror. Renegade Kid founder Jools Watsham has always said that he'd like to return to the series, but was unable to due to an issue with the rights.
However, it would appear that this is all sorted out now, as Watsham has tweeted the following good news:
Of course, having the rights and making a game are two very different things, and Renegade Kid currently has a rather full work schedule, what with the episodic 3DS releases of Moon Chronicles and the ongoing development of Xeodrifter to consider. It is also working on the sequel to Mutant Mudds.
Still, it's good news without a shadow of a doubt — perhaps we'll see a Dementium successor on Nintendo hardware in the not-too-distant future?

I never played these but they always looked interesting. Will keep my eyes open for this.
It's not unusual to see mature games on Nintendo systems. Nintendo wanted GTA Chinatown Wars and with the Wii U Nintendo is developing/publishing more M titles than they have ever done. 64 is mostly when the family friendly audience ended
These don't look that great though, If I wanted to play Doom, I would go download it and play it. But I don't want to.
What happened to their cult county game in the sandstorm?
@AJWolfTill It didn't get enough funding.
I would buy two copies of a new one!
They better release Treasurenauts soon too.
@Mega719 idk, if I remember correctly, SMT Strange Journey was the 10th M game on the ds and that was in 2009 (for Japan). Compare this to about 20% of Xbox360 games rated M and yeah... On the other hand many of the Nintendo M games are awesome
@eviLaTtenDant I agree. What exactly even happened to that game?
So, when in Moon Chronicles coming to Europe? seems like years ago it was announced. Did it come out in the states yet?
Cult County didn't meet its funding a while back which is a massive shame, but I think they should have had more game footage for the kickstarter, if I remember correctly, it was very early in development. But we might hear something next year with the new 'new' 3ds coming maybe
I got one of the Dementium games last year but never got around to playing it. Maybe this weekend. People say good things about it.
Please, I am begging you:
Take the monopoly of FPS games on Wii U!!! I am dying to shoot things with my Wiimote!!! (And use the gyro option in the GamePad for local multiplayer as well.)
You wouldn't even need to break your back with the burden of bankruptcy inducing competitive graphics; the feel of shooting experience with the Wiimote more than makes up even mediocre graphics in my experience.
I played through the first one years ago and it was one freaky game. I've never forgotten how strange it was. I own the second one but its in shelf-mode right now. Just may break it out in October-just in time for Halloween. If you ever see them they are usually very cheap and you should pick them up.....and watch out for the guy chasing you in a wheelchair.
SWEEEEEEEET. I wonder if Cult County is going to be cancelled now for a Dementium sequel
Exciting news. Also, it's interesting that he mentions sequels, not just one more. Hopefully, it goes toward a retail release for 3DS, no eshop. Or maybe, even a Wii U release. That would fill in a gap of this genre.
Fantastic!
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAH! Please include the 3DS!
YES!!!!!!!!!!! i only played one of the games but really liked it
I would love to have a another game for the series! it left off with a event that could start interesting and more demonic environments!
Yes!! Make this for the Wiiu and the 3DS.
Never heard/played it, but I'd love to try this out since I admit I haven't played much horror games.
Dementium Chronicles. Make it happen.
i wood perfer moon chronicles episode 2, and cult county
That's a cool monster if i ever become a developer i'll regret not creating that
I loved Dementium 1&2 so much. Brief experiences but quite unique considering the platform. I played in really short runs to make them seem longer
@DefHalan I think Cult county was cancelled a long time ago when the funding failed :/
I'm shocked to learn that Renegade Kid and the Dementium games have fans, even on the internet. People must be starved for first-person shooters on the 3DS but Renegade Kid's games are among the worst I've played.
3Dementium on its way? Please? That'd be about the best news ever. Make it physical, and release it in Europe as well, and I'll go crazy with excitement!
@Varoennauraa find a copy of the conduit and the conduit 2. Very good Wii shooters.
@Danrenfroe2016
I have the first one and I have been stalking for a good deal of the second. I loved the controls of the first one so much, that even when the game was mediocre out side of the controls, the feeling of shooting made it my favorite FPS of the gen. I wish you could buy Wii games from eShop.
But now. No one's making Wiimote FPS's anymore. Not even a Cod. Poopoopoopoopoopoopoopoo!
Hey High Voltage!!! There's money on the table! It is supposed to be small table, but it's low risk and high potential. There was 6 million Wii U's even before Mario Kart 8 made it some what more popular. Tweak that Quantum engine of yours just a bit and make HD -remake of the Conduit 2 and release it via eShop! Easy money! And with that money, tighten the Quantum bolts a bit more and make the Conduit 3! GamePad is natural born ASE etc etc etc!
Oh man! Now to think of it...
You could make such a good FPS for the Wii U. Take the High Voltage's unreleased Grinder for an example! The GamePad player could be an Over Lord for the monsters and command them in RTS fashion against the FPS team on the TV!
