Cooking Mama 5

The Cooking Mama franchise is perhaps unfairly dismissed by some, but it has an impressive sales track record and a loyal fanbase — the publisher states there have been over 13 million copies sold worldwide. It surged to popularity during the DS "Touch Generation" days, and it can be strangely fun to make muffins with some flicks of the stylus before being told how wonderful they are; these games can be the equivalent of a pat on the head.

Cooking Mama 5: Bon Appetit has now arrived in North America at retail — there's also an eShop demo — and publisher Majesco has gone for a high-profile approach to marketing the game, employing the services of Rosanna Pansino on YouTube; her channel has over 2.5 million subscribers. A recipe from the series is made in real life, before we have a double act with the series mascot; it's oddly entertaining, much like the franchise itself.

The conventional launch trailer is below for your viewing pleasure. Are you a fan of this series and tempted to pick it up, or will you try the demo first? Give us a shout and let us know.
