Mega Man 3 Leaps Onto The Japanese 3DS Virtual Console

Posted by Damien McFerran

For those about to rock

The third instalment of Capcom's popular Mega Man series is launching on the Japanese 3DS Virtual Console this week.

Mega Man 3 - known in Japan as Rockman 3: The End of Dr. Wily!? - will go live on the Japanese 3DS eShop tomorrow (September 26th) for 500 yen.

Even harsher than its already tough predecessor, Mega Man 3 has gained a reputation for being incredibly difficult. Japanese players will be able to remind themselves just how frustrating it is tomorrow, but a Western release is yet to be confirmed.

I wonder how long until a NES game not already on the Wii VC is released on the 3DS VC.

A western release for the previous two is also yet to be confirmed. C'mon Nintendo - give us SOMETHING. -.-

What gives, Japan get the first three NES titles, and we've only got the first Gameboy title?

Not good enough! Capcom, we want a bit of Megaman love here in the west too!

There are always save states, onlyaman. Only the Ambassador games didn't get them.

Things like this showing how lacking/pitifil VC support is outside Japan make me faceplant (I'm practicing my Zivaisms for the NCIS premiere tonight... they're a bit dusty right now after the onseason ).

I beat this game over 20 years ago. If I want to play it again I'll just download it on Wii's VC, no big whoop.

If it the future I can d/l it for free(CN), or reduced rate(again CN), then maybe. I own an Nes cart, as well as Wii VC. On the other hand, it is my favorite Mega Man Classic series title.

Edit: Capcom needs to get 6/7/X3/Soccer out on the d/l services first, actually.

Edit #2: Wily Wars would also be very appreciated.

Not too in love with the Mega Man that is available in the NA 3DS VC right now, but I've definitely been wanting to get an NES version... So bring it on already Nintendo!

As much as Megaman 3 is one of my top favorite Megaman games I truthfully would be more excited to see more of the GB Megaman games come to the 3DSVC. Honestly if I wanted Megaman 3 I could either get it off of my Wii VC or just pop in my Megaman AC disc for Gamecube.

I would rather they focused on bringing the GB Mega man games onto the 3DS VC as the NES MM games are already available on Wii VC and the anniversary collection.

RR529 said:

As with the two people above me, I want them to focus on the GB Mega Mans.

While I'm sure the NES games are superior, there are already multiple ways to play them. It's time to give the GB games new life!

Can´t they just release all the NES and other VC games on eShop they´ve had for years on Wii? In one huge update? Or like being able to play those games you´ve bought on your Wii on your 3DS? You can do that on Playstation 3 and PSP/Vita right?

Luffy: It'd flood the market and hurt their overall sales. Though they do need to up the speed of releases a LOT.

The GB MM supporters: why not both? I've never played GB MM until I got the 3DS VC, and I love it, but I want to be able to play the NES classics wherever I want whenever I want on a handheld. I have MM3 on NES Cart and I play it a lot, but I don't want to sit in front of my TV to do so.

To the Legends supporters: Solidarity brothers! I am a Fighting Game maniac, and I will not buy another Street Fighter or Vs game until they do the right thing. Only purchasing Mega Man games (and not that X Over (even if Over-1 looks cool and is half communist)) until then.
