Top 20 WiiWare Games in USA (1st Apr)

Posted by Corbie Dillard

It's Wednesday again which can only mean one thing.

It's time to take a look at the most popular WiiWare titles available in the Wii Shop. If you're feeling adventurous you can even take a look for yourself by simply logging on to your Wii Shop channel, heading into the WiiWare section and then viewing "Popular Games". It's that simple! Trust us, if we can do it, anyone can.

We compile this list using the USA region Wii Shop channel, so if you live elsewhere your list will probably be quite a bit different. Please feel free to post your region's findings below as always.

Keep in mind that the list below is a measure of actual sales made recently, not of the total time the game has been available for sale.

Here is the list for the 1st of April:

20 (19) - Tiki Towers
19 (16) - Sandy Beach
18 (15) - TV Show King
17 (18) - Bomberman Blast
16 (14) - Wild West Guns
15 (17) - Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King
14 (13) - Target Toss Pro: Bags
13 (11) - Midnight Bowling
12 (12) - Defend your Castle
11 (--) - Pop'Em Drop'Em SAMEGAME
10 (10) - Fun! Fun! Minigolf
9 (9) - Brain Challenge
8 (8) - My Pokémon Ranch
7 (7) - Cue Sports - Pool Revolution
6 (6) - Dr Mario Online Rx
5 (5) - Onslaught
4 (4) - Bit.Trip Beat
3 (2) - Tetris Party
2 (3) - My Aquarium
1 (1) - World of Goo

* (N) - Denotes a new entry on the Top 20

World of Goo seems to have regained its stranglehold on the top spot and My Aquarium has once again reclaimed the #2 spot ahead of Tetris Party as well. The "Big Three" just can't be stopped as Bit.Trip Beat wasn't able to knock any of them off this week. Maybe it will next week?

The big climber this week was Hudson's Pop'Em Drop'Em SAMEGAME, which jumped from off the charts completely, all the way up to #11. It will be interesting to see how far it can climb. We have a pair of big droppers this week in TV Show King and Sandy Beach, both of which fell a paltry 3 spots to #18 and #19 respectively.

While there wasn't a huge amount of movement this week, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King and Bomberman Blast are both still enjoying their unexpected resurgence that continues this week. On a more somber note, Konami's Gradius Rebirth wasn't able to enjoy much of a rebirth as it has now fallen completely off the Top 20 altogether.

For a second there, I thought that Tiki Towers was #1! :D

Nothing too exciting going on this week. It's nice to see Bit Trip Beat doing well. Poor Gradius Rebirth didn't last long. :(

That was frightening! I though the top three was Tiki Towers, Sandy Beach, and TV Show King. I'm glad Bit.Trip Beat is doing well. Maybe it will knock My Aquarium out of the top three next week.

It needed to have the newspost icon being Tiki Towers for maximum effect.

Well, I was hoping for more impact of the storage solution. I suppose two of the larger WiiWare titles FFCC and Bomberman having a slight rise is something (plus its obvious every title got a sales boost...prehaps)

I have an idea - how about on the game pages, it states the highest position the game has ever reached?

The only problems I could think of is that game pages would have to be edited more often which you may not want to do and every country has different charts - I suppose you could get around this by stating the country along with the chart position. Also, you'd have to go back through the charts and look up the highest ranking position of each game which could take a while.

Eh. Well it sounded like a nice idea at first.

That Top 20 list simply fails since Mega Man 9 is no where to be seen.

Eww, reverse list notation... I know all the other sites would do it but then again they'd put each game on a separate page too.

Thasabigwii: You must be new here.

Germany:
(-) 1 Texas Hold'em Tournament
(1) 2 My Aquarium
(2) 3 World of Goo
(3) 4 Onslaught
(4) 5 FUN FUN Minigolf
(5) 6 TV Show King
(7) 7 Snowboard Riot
(8) 8 Tetris Party
(9) 9 Brain Challenge
(6) 10 Bomberman Blast
(11) 11 Pop-Up Pirate
(10) 12 Family Table Tennis
(14) 13 Midnight Bowling
(13) 14 My Pokemon Ranch
(12) 15 SAMEGAME
(15) 16 LostWinds
(17) 17 The Incredible Maze
(18) 18 FFCCMLaaK
(16) 19 CueSports
(19) 20 Defend your Castle

The new entry, Texas Hold'em Tournament, shot right to #1 (since games come out on Friday here and I've compiled this list on the Thursday the week after it had a lot longer than a US title to gain sales). Actio = Reactio and therefore Mega Man 9 left the chart.

The biggest drop was probably Bomberman.
