Topic: Boycott Nintendo

I had a feeling that all the complaints and pre-ordering on Amazon probably wouldnt budge Nintendo. Its time to exercise our power as consumers. Im calling for an offical boycott of all Nintendo products and games played on there systems. Show them how mad you are by not buying there products. Call them and let them know.

Buy used, subscribe to gamefly, heck even 10 friends buying one game and passing it around will hurt there bottom line.

Don't kid yourself, people are still going to buy their high-profile, first-party games. If Nintendo of America doesn't want to sell me Xenoblade, I'll buy it from Nintendo of Europe.

I'm sorry, but that's just a stupid idea. You'll only be hurting yourself, as it will accomplish nothing and you'll miss out on great games. Good luck with that.

Don't people realize that game companies, Ninty included, are businesses that must make decisions based on how they affect their bottom line, not based on the "outrage" of a small fraction of the gaming market? If Ninty believed that releasing these games in the Americas would be profitable or worth the expense, they'd do it.

Honestly, just because they don't have plans right now to bring the games to NA doesn't mean that they're gone forever. Just wait it out and see what happens.

If anything, you should help Operation Rainfall instead of boycotting

KingMike

That's not going to work.
I'm pissed the US isn't getting Xenoblade and Last Story (and unlikely Pandora's Tower because NoA almost never publishes M-rated games). But not buying their games is not going to work. It'll just make them even less likely to publish "risky" games than they already are. They'll just make even more Wii Play sequels.
I'm still mad they haven't announced Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem DS, but I'll probably still buy Super Fossil Fighters, and maybe Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 2 and Fortune Street.
I suppose the only choice I have is to import a copy of Xenoblade (even though that probably wouldn't direct affect NoE since I'd have to buy from a second-hand seller like ebay) instead of waiting to see if NoA does (and if they miraculously change their mind, buy that too).

ffs. Australia doesn't get heaps of games. We have to wait 6 months for Kirby's Epic Yarn, haven't got the AAA-quality Wii games (Sin and Punishment 2, Punch-Out, Excitebike among others). Yet, you don't get one game, and you go mental.

Calm down America.

And can you go a little faster?!

I know! Lets all put on historical wigs, get a bunch of flaming caribou, and dance naked outside the NoA building while singing opera! Or, we could boycott, either way the effect would be same. @Aviator I agree

Yeah... I'm not mad. Disappointed, yes.

They really haven't done anything "OMG MAJOR SUCKORZ" to even deserve such a boycott to be honest.

I do question why they localized Glory of Heracles but not Xenoblade, The Last Story and Pandora's Tower considering the demand. Even MOTHER3- yet Starfy arrives to the states (nothing against the games, they are really fun). Sometimes, it looks like they troll people by bringing games no one wants but ignoring games that a handful of people want lol

This thread should be titled "The nonsensical ravings of a lunatic mind." You do realize a few people not purchasing Nintendo products is:
a)Not going to hurt Nintendo at all
b)Only hurting your own amusement.

Except that's still not how they work. Nintendo's constantly saying "it didn't feel right" about something. Like the itemless racing in Mario Kart- someone requested it, lots of people would like it, and it'd take maybe 10 man hours to implement properly as an option- an option- and Nintendo pretty much told them to go to hell.
And Reggie and his big mouth saying they don't want "garage developers," alienating developers and sounding like an idiot at the same time. There are more than two popular games out there made by 1 or 2 people in their spare time that are a total blast to play, but Nintendo doesn't want to play ball.
Even the friends list on the 3DS is a monument to their lack of desire to really cater to their fan base. There's zero logic to it. You have to flip through 50 people just to get to the one that's online, and you can't do anything once you get there. Can't chat with him, can't challenge him to a match at whatever he might be playing... nothing. And, of course he doesn't pop to the top of the list just because he's online.
This is all part of Nintendo's refusal to get with the program. I'd support a boycott if I thought it would do anything, but I'm not convinced you could talk enough people out of buying Skyward Sword to make a difference

Yes, let us boycott Nintendo! Because boycotts ALWAYS work.

But seriously, get over it. It sucks concerning what NOA has done. But boycotts are not going to work because there will always be more people buying Nintendo's games rather than people who are boycotting Nintendo.

Actually, all three of those games were released in Australia.

Sin & Punishment: Successor of the Skies was imported by JB-Hi-Fi for a short time following its European release (it was never classified locally though). Punch-Out!! was a JB Hi-Fi exclusive (it was discontinued approximately 6 months after its release, and was available for as little as $20-$30 when they were clearing them out). Unlike Sin & Punishment however, Punch-Out!! was an official Australian release. Pity that it didn't perform well enough for Nintendo to grant it a full scale retail release.

Excitetrucks and Excitebike: World Championships were released locally as well, however, Excitebots was never released outside of NA.

I'm actually surprised by the quantity of niche games that are released here considering our miniscule market, but Nintendo of Australia really need to step it up with their first party releases. Waiting any more than 2 weeks for a first party release (let alone 6 months) is completely unacceptable.

If you are so worried about that game than just buy a PAL Wii and than import the game. Problem solved.

Time is running out for the Wii. The point is we have very little titles on the horizon and we need some great immersive games, ESPECIALLY RPGs to satisfy the famished fans. It doesn't matter if these games arent #1 sellers or even top 5. People will buy these games, and I bet they are going to sell well.

IF you wanna show how Nintendo is gonna get serious with the hardcore and give us software, saving from the drought, now is the time. cmon Nintendo...

Now I don't wanna boycott NIntendo but I DO think they are making a mistake.
There is a pretty fair drought on both of their platforms. Yes depending on how you look at it, you can say you aren't getting the software support you would like on the 3DS.
Nothing bedies Resident Evil and Zelda for the summer?.... :/

The bottom line is if Nintendo had no plans to localize even one of these games, they shouldn't have made such a big deal about the statements and just left it all alone until it died down. They didn't do themselves any favors with this little debacle, judging from the backlash around the internet. LOL

And did we mention that we have a brand new site called VitaGamr.

Plain old gamer :)

the_shpydar

Attention people who don't seem to get it: vocal minorities grumbling on the internet are still minorities. Businesses do not make decisions based on the rantings (or even sensible wants, for that matter) of folks on the 'net (especially when most of those peoples tend to be younger fans who are not really the target for businesses). Just because there's a bunch of people whining on message boards about things, does not mean that they represent the gaming consumers at large. It's like the Earthbound/Mother thing. People seem to think that there's this huge majority of gamers clamoring for them, but that's simply not fact.

But sure, let's all be foolish, boycott things because we're upset that a company doesn't do something exactly the way we may personally want. Honestly, it's pretty much equivalent to the kid in preschool complaining that he can't play with that one toy he wants to play with right now.

I do agree however with Corbs, Ninty didn't do themselves any favors, since they should know the overly reactionary nature of internet-frequenting fans.

/me gets off high horse.
