Topic: Do you keep a disc in your Wii U while it is powered down? or do you take the disc out each time?

So, the white light bothers you, but the red light that's always on when the system powers down doesn't?

But yes, I keep mine in. Saves me the time the next time I turn it on.

The white light can be hypnotic LOL. For your information, if you are going to move a device with a disc within, it is advised to eject the disc first. Otherwise, it doesn't matter.

I really don't like the navigation bar of Nintendo Life continuously reappearing while browsing!!

I take the disc out, because I still hear it spinning when I'm on the eShop, Miiverse, or playing a digital game.

Personally, for my Xbox One and my Wii, I take the disc out if I know next time I open the console I'll play something else. If I intend to play the same game, there's no reason to eject the disc.

Leave mine in. No beef.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

You should remove them when not in use...I actually lost my copy of Kingdom Hearts II (PS2) because my system crabbed out and I couldn't get the disc out without voiding my warranty, so even though it won't hurt your Wii U, it could cause you to lose that game if your system dies and customer service doesn't relay your message about your game disc being in your console to their repair team.

For my own sake I always have to remove the disc after the last play session of the day.
My desk with the consoles is right in front of my bed and bright white shining lights are the worse enemy when trying to sleep XD

After selling all my Wii U discs except the bundled SMBU+LU disc and going all digital, it never left the console for half a year now. It still makes a noise anyway when you boot it up empty so I just keep it inside.

I never have one in because of the extra fans that are on the main screen etc. There again I only have 2 games on disk (Sonic Lost World and Nintendo Land) and I won't at the first reasonable opportunity.

Let's put it this way: I've owned a Wii U since launch, and the only game I have on disc is Nintendo Land.

It's been in my console since the first time I've booted it up.

500 hours?? I've played like.... Possibly 50-60....

Leave mine in too lazy to put it back it in again. It doesn't really damage the disc if you leave it in right?

Unless there's a fault in the drive, the only risk of damage will occur moving the console while it is on.

If your console stops working, the disc gets stuck in there. That's what happened to my Hunger Games Blu-ray.

Yeah, the huge Nintendo game drought of summer 2014 led to me playing mostly Mario Kart 8 between launch on May 30th and Hyrule Warriors release in mid September. The Nintendo Life and GameXplain tournaments were a huge factor too (For the former I'm including the ones which gave eshop credit and the EGX qualifiers) so if something like that happened for Smash Wii U or Splatoon for example then I could see my playtime sharply increase for those. Don't forget though that EGX this September is now at the NEC in Birmingham.

No harm in leaving the disc in as long the console is not going to be moved or transported.

What really annoys me is that whilst the console is turned on the disc is always spinning even when your using internet browser, miiverse etc I am talking about when the game in not running. I get around this by loading up the daily log app which stops the disc drive and then open up the browser from the home menu.

I always leave my discs in. My consoles are rarely moved, so I don't see the benefit of keeping a disc out.

i just leave it in. i mean, why would i remove it unless i was gonna bring the game somewhere? the white light isnt much more noticable than the power LED and i would save time if i was gonna play that same game next time i power it up anyway. unless i was a control freak that insisted on having my games in their cases at all time, i dont see why i would take em out every time

I always take the disc out cause I typically play digital games and for some reason it'll just spin the disc and make tons of noise.
