Guys this is a serious topic. Before I start to talk here's the news:

http://www.equestriadaily.com/2014/12/brony-takes-his-own-lif...

Months ago, a brony was victim of online trolling on his youtube challenge, and he fallen on a deep depression. Then he made a video where.... he apologized to the trolls, and then.... he killed himself under a train. The online trolling has become extremely dangerous now, it must be stopped.

The parents of the boy opened a campaign to fight the online bullism. Pewdiepie decided to help them, spreading the news in his facebook page (very noble from him if you ask me), let's make the same. Let's spread this, some lifes maybe in danger now.

I'm sorry if this could sound like spamming, but it has to be done, now the online trolling went way too far.

It's sad, but it's actually not the first time online harassing ends in suicide.

There's nothing anyone can do to prevent bullying from happening besides preparing people for it.

The thing is, nobody can stop them. If people wanna bully, they will. And it's extremely easy to do so, since it's the internet, where nobody can be identified clearly (yet), and they're never at risk of facing serious consequences.
All these anti-bullyism cmpaigns fail to understand that something like this cannot be stopped. It's an utter waste of resources to fight the bullies themselves, instead of focusing on helping weak people find a base for their own strength to withstand these verbal assaults.

Don't get me wrong, I don't like how bullying is still such an ongoing issue, but trying to fight the bullies won't do anything to help the victims except for being handled like raw eggs, so stuff like this is just a collection of good intentions with weak results.

Just like the posts above me have said we can't do anything to stop online bullying.Cause people who bully others thinks it's fun,but it's actually not cause some people might take the insults very seriously. But it broke my heart reading that a brony killed himself cause of online bullying it's sad and i feel for the family.

Poor guy. As for online bullying ending, it's never going to end. I could explain why, but the people above me already have. It sucks, I know, but we can't do anything about it.

There is nothing here...except for the stuff I just typed...

That isn't trolling. (Trolling would be something like me putting something saying 25 reasons why Nintendo is only for kids.)

The Daily Mail is a fascist paper, always was just a little bit better at hiding it these days. (The original proprietor was very good friends with Adolf Hitler.)

Best way to stop stuff like this happening is advise never use your real name online. If something like that happens change your online identity.

Any of the real name type solutions are far worse. (Having something like being a Brony attacked to your real name and visible to employers I don't think would be a good thing for anybody).

It's the internet.. What did you expect? Honestly, I don't blame anyone.

This just makes me happy that NL is a community relatively light on trolling. OP is right, online trolling is a serious problem, as is bullying as a whole.

Bullying is not something you will ever be able to stop. Just teach people to look for the signs, and to speak out when things aren't going well for you. No uprising against the 'trolls' is going to do anyone any good. My condolences to the boys family.

Sorry, but you can't just end bulling. The same way you can't end racism, sexism, war, and violence. People just need to know that those things exist, and they shouldn't overreact to them.

Well said.

Every day on this site I see plenty of comments and opinions that I don't agree with, and I'm sure plenty of people don't agree with what I say all the time, either. But that's okay. You can just choose to not comment on something at all if you don't like it, or you can choose to not let it bother you.

My game library ranges from Mario Kart to Call of Duty to Tales of Xillia to Diablo 3 to Forza. To me gaming is about having fun - not blindly supporting only one company while thumbing your nose at "the evil other systems."

With risk of sounding callous, why does everyone keep saying bulling?

And at further risk of sounding callous, the Internet needs a thick skin warning label because you will NEVER stop trolling. There are much more heinous internet crimes being commit on a daily basis (Silk Road, child trafficking) but the very nature of the Internet means you just can't stop it.

I think that's online harassment and not trolling, but correction aside, you can't completely stop it. People who reach the point of encouraging people to commit suicide are worthless scumbags that deserve to have their identities exposed and should be held accountable for their actions (can't wait for privacy concerns over this, you shouldn't have any unless you did something very, very wrong). The best we can do is help those suffering from depression to brush that crap off. It's like thievery, it will never end, it'll become less common at best. You feel bad for the victims, so you remind everyone to install locks on their door. Just making it clear that I'm not trying to blame the victims or anything, just throwing a precautionary measure out there. There is no perfect solution for this crap, we can only hope society is held up to a higher standard one day.

Sadly you never will end any kind of bulling or trolling, its just human nature. The only thing you can do is just prepare them for it and how to deal with it. Honestly IMO if some commits suicide over something like being bullied there is probably some deeper reason to it,

Okay, guys. Let me say something before we all get too upset about this. Let me compare online bullying and offline bullying.

Offline: Harder to walk away from someone, physical violence can occur, easier for a bully to "get back" at you for reporting them, you can fall victim to the same bully multiple times, can be harder to hide your normal self, you must take things more literally because bullying IRL can be an actual threat.

Online: You can turn off your computer, no physical violence can occur, impossible for a bully to get back at you, you can block a bully on any site they are bullying you on (or, you could just not go to that site), you can be whoever you want, you can and should take many things as a joke online.

My point is: No, online trolling or bullying does not need to stop. It doesn't really exist in the first place. People need to stop acting as if it's a problem. Yes, I'll agree it's sad that suicide has occurred as a "result" of this, but said people were taking the situation WAY too seriously. And there's no way to stop people from being offended. All I can say is the people that commit suicide over stuff on the Internet are stupid for acting and feeling like it's serious.

I'm glad you posted that because now I no longer feel like there's any semblance of insensitivity in my post.

First of all, people have used your argument before in the past for physical bullying amongst many things. Not necessarily important to state but worth noting.

Second, yeah you can turn off the computer but the reading is done, and yes words can hurt. Any argument against that can be countered with the very concept of emotional abuse.

And third, this one may just be me, but when you are attacked, the natural response is often retaliation. So turning it off may not be as simple as that for many.

Alright, I can do this too.

First, people have said to stop bullying and trolling online in the past because of suicide among other things. Not necessarily important to state but worth noting.

Second, who was forcing the kid to go onto the Internet in the first place? When you go onto the Internet, anyone in their right mind should know the potential consequences of their actions, and almost anyone that posts on a forum or other site should be old enough to realize the consequences and know to not take stuff seriously. Emotional abuse can be avoided if you take it as a joke (just trust me with this. I know. I have experience on the matter).

Third, what exactly are all of you campaigning for? A purely factual Internet? Because if you want to end trolling, you have to get rid of every forum ever, because 99.9% of all posts ever are biased in some way or another, which could offend someone, which could be seen as bullying/trolling, which could lead to a suicide. You may think I'm kidding, but somehow singing the Pledge of Allegiance in America is offensive to some Americans, so even the slightest bit of bias anywhere on a news site could upset someone. And that's emotional bullying, when you're offending someone.
