Why would anyone buy this and not use the 3D?!?! if the 3D bothers you or you don't like it etc, then why not just buy the original for $10 on the VC?
Maybe because this remake runs at 30 FPS — compared to the original's 15 — and doesn't have sh*tty looking textures? Or maybe for the dozens of other things that were improved over the original game?
i like using the 3D during cut scenes and other cool parts like boss battles, but i found it hard to keep my hands still when playing. especially when or if your using the gyro scope to aim, its hard to shoot right.

Or the fact that this is the only portable version of this game and it it is most fully featured version of OoT to date? Yes, this is the definitive version of Ocarina of Time.
And to answer the question, No I do not use the 3D except for cutscenes. Mainly because in my experience there is a lot of ghosting, but I attribute that mostly to the fact that I like to the fact that the gyro features are so fun to use and that my hands get shaky whenever I play this amazing game. Also I get headaches if I use the 3D at full blast even though it looks so so pretty. But this game is still super pretty in 2D.
i wish there was a bigger sweetspot, i have to be dead still to play 3d, but it only seems to be this game, i never noticed this any my other games

Well playing in 2D is fine for me, because I just love usingthe gyro controls. Funny, because I thought they would be gimmicky at first, but as it turns out, they really are quite fun.

I usually play with it on, mainly because...WHY NOT!? It's 3D man, if Nintendo worked so hard to develop it hell I'll use it.
They really did do a great job though! Looks fantastic, I mean have you seen the animations after playing songs on the Ocarina with the 3D on? Oh and golephish, High 5! I bought the 3DS just for this game too. OOT: My favorite game ever.
Proud owner of a 3DS for the sole purpose to buy Ocarina of Time 3D to recover nostalgia of the best game ever.
I guess I started the topic - cause at first the game made me feel cross eyed. I was also sleep deprived. I was trying to see if it was just me - I too was seeing "ghosting" or sometimes mirrored images sometimes.
I don't own this yet, but I never use 3D for anything on the 3DS, and never turn it up. It always bothers my eyes after a few minutes, and everything just looks too busy and distracting if you turn it on.
Man, I'd be sad to live your existence.
Perhaps it's because I collected stereograms as a kid and even worked out how to make my own Magic-Eye-like stereograms pixel by pixel in MS Paint (yep, I was an odd kid), but I couldn't imagine just ignoring the 3D on the 3DS. It looks quite beautiful, and completely changes the clarity. Whereas the characters, objects, and backgrounds all kind of blur together in 2D on that small screen, it opens up and looks perfectly tangible with the slider at max. Wonderful, I say. I even find the subtle use of 3D on the menus to completely change the experience.
And yes, not a moment of irritation to my eyes, no matter how long a session with 3D on max, on any game.
...actually I find that the 3D trailers look excellent. Have we been watching the same things?! Super Mario 3DS, Star Fox, Luigi's Mansion (gorgeous 3d!) and yes also OoT, all look stunning in the trailers. If you can't see the effect in the trailers, I'm not sure you'll fare much better with any of the games.
You sound like one of those people (this is not meant to be insulting) who don't seem to "register" when 3D is depth-based and therefore only seem to notice it when an objects pops forward out of the screen. I've shown my 3DS to a couple of people like that, who only even seem to acknowledge the 3D when I show them something jumping forward. On the contrary, I find that the most impressive and aesthetically pleasing uses of 3D on the system are for adding depth behind the screen, just like in the Luigi's Mansion trailer. It makes it look like a perfect little diorama behind the glass.
Ha, your comment came as I was editing mine with a response to you — but it sounds like you do appreciate depth, but prefer the pop-out effect. Fair enough. I'm glad we both enjoy the 3D as a whole, in any case.

I play it completely in 3D with motion controls. It is amazing. I never thought I'd say that as originally I wasn't going to get it - but I'm so glad I did.
thinking the same thing, except i didnt buy it yet. im... half doubtful about it. 40 dollars isnt easy to pull off my pockets these days...
Did anyone else go WOAH out loud in the first boss room when you look up, it drops, then proceeds to stick it's eye and face partially out of the screen? Pure insanity. So yes, I do play with the 3D on. =)
My second playthrough - the Master Quest playthrough, is mostly going to consist of playing in 2D, because I will have already seen most of the game in 3D and I just want to be able to freely use the gyroscope aiming without worrying about having to look at the 3D screen from straight on.
Hey BAZ,
to keep the gorgeousness rolling i can give a little tip. Stereo 3D AND motion control actually work pretty well ! You just have to get used to not only turn your system when you aim but turn your head in the same axis as well. Its like the handheld and your head form one axis alltogether. Ofc for the silliness its best tested with a turnable chair
I will keep 3D on ALL times just awesome .... And im deeply impressed by the new motion controls. Either looking around or aiming its just superb control. Try for example just to relax in the Hyrule Field ! Look around , especially look at the sun or moon raising. The lense flare is just craziness in stereo 3D !!
Haha, yeah, this is exactly what I have been doing for the motion aiming anyway. For this reason, I sometimes play the game standing up. It makes it feel as if the game world is actually part of the real world when moving the 3DS around me. Using a rotating chair sounds like a good way to play the game actually.
The only problem I've got is that when I'm lying down and playing the game, the motion aiming can be kinda awkward, especially if I want to try and look at something behind me. :L
