3D. "Just a gimmick," right? That's what the critics are saying.

PS: I use the gyro for aiming, most of the time. As for 3D...

hi zeeroid,
Just to swamp that gimmicky argument easily away ( haha great pun )
Catch Zelda and go to Kakariko , grab a chicken and fly around as you please. Flying around with an actual ground floor for comparison is just enough you need. And if you max out the depth the flying around feathers are crazy.
Another great area for first time experience is Goronia when you start balacing around on those narrow ropes, especially when you start slipping from those ropes.

Just play it and embrace 3d with your heart and soul ....
Im sure coming titles will even improves this very unique experience

I'm using it. I find you can get the sensation of going cross eyed though you're not depending not so much on the 3D being used but your distance to the screen as your eyes will try and compensate against double imaging. It bugged me more when I first had the unit and it doesn't now as each person needs to set a distance and go with it, but also overall if you get the sensation setting 3D slider to 1/2 tends to help out a lot as it stops that but keeps the depth.

I haven't done OOT other than Deku Tree+an hour since 1998 so it's all new to me, and I'm liking it again so far so it's all good but since I bought it for portability sake, the little improvements to icky areas in the original, obviously the mesh of past and present visual upgrades, and because I thought the 3D would be nice and it all is.

LOVE the 3D. It would be worth it without the 3D... but hardly. The 3D makes me glad I spent $40 to get it.

Well normally i would say navi is sweet and everything ( in the original N64 release).
But now im soon gonna get fed up by those stupid "hi im your mommy make a pause , naggidi nag nag" messages from navi, which turn in every half an hour or so.
Just a BIG mistake and destroies much immersion ....
But those little drawings on the walls with hints are neat and funny ;D
Those can be found in several towns / locations .

The 3D is giving me eyestrain. I'll have to use it sparingly.

I'm playing with 3D. It took me a while but I think I found the perfect setting for me. Full blast is way too much for my eyes.

@ golephish

Well those drawings on the walls ! They look like little childrens drawings, in general one picture with arrows or icons. For example one drawing tells you about how to use arrows and fire etc.
The fun of finding those i leave to all of you. Dont wanna spoil the fun ^^
You know all those little tricks we know to get every last secret in OoT
Its neat it gives infos about game mechanics for beginners. Was the first new thing i noticed ....
Oh and those buckets and book shelves etc are new too, but still have to get used to all those added knick knack.
At least its not that much so you dont have yet to wade through those rooms

Seriously if people are having eye strain as it even at times will bug me a bit after extended play on full blown 3D, drop it to 1/2 as it will solve the problem for me and maybe you too. Even at that rate the loss of 3D is hardly worth noting. Short of barely sliding it on I think it was more designed to give the same impression of depth but at a different spacing of the optics as to give more people a comfortable position using it.

as I have been playing throughout the day, I find that @tanookisuit is correct - I just barley am using the slider.

this game has too much depth to keep the slider at max. the depth gets so pronounced that you can only focus on one object at a time but your eyes are trying to take the whole screen in as you play, doesn't work.

my tip for those of you who haven't started yet is to get the 3d sorted out at the screen where the deku tree gives you the forest stone. you'll see the stone in foreground and the tree in the back with leaves falling in between. if you adjust the slider down until you can see all of these things comfortably at once then you're set, for me it was about halfway/slightly over half.

by the way, anyone else wish the sunset moved slower on hyrule field? the new sky is amazing but you have so little time to take it in.

yeah i use it. it is cool.

i once turned it off when i was inside of this big whale and the boss fights were too hard because i couldnt properly lock on the enemy and i moved my 3ds too much.
but otherwise it looks really good

I don't own this yet, but I use full 3D for everything on the 3DS, and never turn it down. It hasn't bothered my eyes a single time yet, and everything just looks lifeless if you turn it off.

I don't own this yet, but I never use 3D for anything on the 3DS, and never turn it up. It always bothers my eyes after a few minutes, and everything just looks too busy and distracting if you turn it on.
