As much as I'd love to go all digital for 3DS, not all games come out for eShop, and often the better deal is physical.
With a home console, it's easy to just store your games on a shelf or something, but with a handheld, you have to move them around. So share how you cary your 3DS games around.
So far, I just use my old DS case and the original game boxes. But I recently used my club Nintendo points for a game card storage case, so I'll soon be using that.
that is freaking awesome !!! i have to find something like that. right now i store my games in their original boxes because i only have two small plastic things, each for one game. i need to get something for all the games
I think it's too much of a hassle to carry around cartridges even with a case. I just bring whatever game is in my 3DS, and have some games I purchased digital copies of if I feel like playing something else.

Well, it would be the Club Nintendo case, but I ordered it 12 days ago and it hasn't even shipped yet.
Formally called brewsky before becoming the lovable, adorable Yoshi.
Now playing:
Final Fantasy XIV (PC) | The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (Switch) | Celeste (Switch)
Exactly as @Einherjar, my 3DS case have six slots for games and that's way more than I need for my usual trips.
I also have a Club Nintendo game case with 18 slots that I keep on my desk, filled with the games I see more likely to play again; so also switching the games to carry around it's usually super fast.
The only games I'm really missing on eShop now Samurai Warriors Chronicles, Dead or Alive Dimensions, and Tales of the Abyss. Everything else is either there or not in my interest.
I have a small briefcase though that I take almost everywhere. Inside it is:
3DS XL with USB charging cable (digital games)
PS Vita with USB charging cable (digital games)
2 of the Club Nintendo 18-in-1 cartridge holders full of DS games
Headphones
A 13" laptop/tablet hybrid
An ultra slim bluetooth mouse (it folds up to be thinner than a phone, so it takes up almost no space)
A USB-powered external HDD with all my movies, TV shows, and music on it
A few work-related things...
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.
I have a case that holds the 3DS, its charger and like 30 games. Only holds one stylus tho. I also got the Pikmin tote from Club Nintendo to carry that and my iPad mini and its charger.
I have all my games stored in an old GBA case I have. I pretty much always keep it in my nightstand, and when I go out I just take whatever game is in my 3DS. On longer trips however I'll take pack the case with me.
Depends on the trip, but I usually just take the game in the 3DS and my downloads (Fire Emblem: Awakening and Etrian Odyssey 4: Legends of the Titan). If it's a long-ish trip I'll put my 3DS games in a compact case and then that in the 3DS box along with the charger and console.
My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.
I love Nintendo, that's why I criticize them so harshly.
I got the old Club Nintendo game case that had the different backgrounds that you can change out when it first came out. I liked it so much that when they offered it again I got another one.

I just bring my 3DS in my pocket. All of my Wii U and 3DS games are left stacked on a table. Since I only download the 3DS retail games that I would play from time to time, (exempli gratia, Animal Crossing, Tomodachi Life, SSB4, Mario Party, Pokemon) I only need to bring one game! The game is usually Mario Kart 7 if I have nothing else to play.
