Re: Feature: Wii U Launch Day, Live!

@Powkitty4 - I really didn't have much in the way of set expectations to be honest, but so far I've been floored by how much fun I've been having with it! Like Joe mentioned, the little details really add up and go a long way into making it feel like a fresh new thing.

@jrpacman You got it mate! Good luck! I had a NA GameCube blow up on me when I was living in Italy when the transformer stopped working without warning =O Always better safe than sorry!

Re: Feature: Wii U Launch Day, Live!

@Molotov Unfortunately you have to purchase the game before the file size comes up; at least that's how I got to that screen for Chasing Aurora. I'll check if there's another way to see filesize though!

Re: Feature: Wii U Launch Day, Live!

@DrSlump - Actually, what you could do is simply open up the Mii Channel on the Wii U's Wii Menu (without transfering over your own Wii data), copy the Mii in from the Wiimote, and then use the Wii U's Mii Maker to grab it from the Wii Menu! That should work!

Re: Feature: Wii U Launch Day, Live!

zipmon

@DrSlump Looks like there is an option to copy from the Wii Menu, so if you do Wii -> Wii U transfer your Wii Miis will be able to be copied to the main Wii U interface as well!

Re: Feature: Wii U Launch Day, Live!

zipmon

@DrSlump Have you got a 3DS? If you do, as a workaround you could send the Mii from the Wii -> 3DS -> Wii U! (But either way I'll let you know as soon as I can about the Wiimote option! =)

Re: Feature: Wii U Launch Day, Live!

zipmon

@DrSlump Not sure, but I can check once the upload's done! From what I remember there were options to make a new one, create one from a GamePad camera pic, scan from a QR code & do the 3DS transfer! (Which was over a local network, very cool!)

@CosmicMii Not for me, still downloading the system update! Had to start from scratch! >_< But I believe it is functioning for those who have their systems updated!

@Morphtroid Woah, you're so right about the music in XL - that honestly washed right over me! I guess that's a testament to the innocuousness of the music, though - definitely not a bad thing!

There're 34 Link-A-Pix's in the Challenge Mode and then 48 seriously tough ones in the Master Mode, so it's quite a lot of Pix-Linking fun! They're nicer looking than the ones in XL too, thanks to the improved resolution on the 3DS. I've seen this at GameStops for around $20 new, and if you like the Link-A-Pix's as much as I do it's worth that just for them!

Re: Talking Point: Life Without Wii U Achievements

zipmon

Lots of interesting points in the comments! I just got a PS3 this year, and I've definitely enjoyed some aspects of the achievement system. In the re-release of NiGHTS, for instance, a quick look through the trophies revealed you could do something awesome with a car in the background of Mystic Forest, something I'd never noticed in years of playing the Saturn original! And while things like trophy-counts and 'gamerscores' feel totally irrelevant to me, I do like looking at my PSN friends' recently earned trophies to see what everyone's been playing. Really though, I think Miiverse will wind up being a MUCH better way to do the latter! I think that's going to be one of the coolest parts of the system, and way more fun than a trophy list. And the sense of exploration that comes from well done trophy collections can definitely be replicated without a system-wide achievement set-up, as it was in KI:U or Kirby Air Ride. So as always, Nintendo's going to do things differently, and I'm excited about it!

Great read as always Tom!

Re: Review: Dress To Play: Cute Witches! (3DS eShop)

zipmon

@Windy - @Tindre hit it on the nose: if you factor in hairstyles, eye colours, shoes, socks, etc. and all the different permutations from that, it's easily over 1000. It's just that the different combinations didn't feel that unique or interesting to me. You can definitely make characters that look distinct from each other (mostly by the hairstyles & hair colours), but I would've liked to have seen more creative outfits (especially considering they're witches; shouldn't witches dress cooler?) and more variety in styles. I might just have been spoiled by Style Savvy lately, to be fair. Also, you're totally right about the NGPC's awesome library! Not a dud in the bunch! =D

@SMEXIZELDAMAN For me, yeah! I'd say if the style appeals to you and you're not bothered about the dress-up part, it's a fun little score-chaser. The achievement system really is well done, too, and gives it a good bit of challenge if you're after the later ones. I'm still going for the 500,000 point one!

@25thquarterking There's certainly nothing wrong with being a 10 year old girl or having different taste in games, and everyone should be able to express their opinions without being attacked. This is Nintendo Life, not a YouTube video comment section.

@Phil Great job as always, and thanks for keeping us out of the line of fire!

Re: Feature: Nintendo's Presidential Candidates

"Campaign Slogan — Walking slowly to the left, together" Haha! Excellent!

My vote goes to Kirby though, no doubt. What else says "change" like the ability to transform at will? =) Happy election day everybody!

Re: Review: 2 Fast 4 Gnomz (3DS eShop)

@TheInvisibleTor Actually, no there isn't - which makes me feel a bit silly for referring to it as an endless runner! The running is endless, but the levels aren't - so I guess non-stop platformer would have been a better description.

Re: Review: Style Savvy: Trendsetters (3DS)

Thanks for all the comments you guys!!

@Shiromikio Definitely - the happiness system for progressing in the game means you can basically do as much of whatever you like to advance. And there's plenty else to keep you occupied! If you want to get into higher level fashion shows you'll need to do more fashion shows, of course, but as far as I can tell the only thing you'd miss by ignoring them is the ability to runway shop and some pretty great dialogue from the MC! FWIW, I've logged 11+ hours so far with only one fashion show under my belt!

@rudydog13 Nailed it!! =D One of my very favourite bands - 10 points! =)

Thanks @Shaan!

& @Morphtroid, totally agree - many many multicoloured robots were killed in the writing of this review! =X Tough but fun!
