Re: Review: Donkey Kong Jr. Math (Wii U eShop / NES)

@Imagamerboi Even though the two-player mode can be great with the right friends, as a package, I think it hits below par. The single-player mode just feels like a two-player game with no one else playing, and that's really disappointing - imagine if the computer opponents in the 'Arcade' mode of a Street Fighter game sat there and did nothing!

If it sounds like something you'd enjoy - either as a historical oddity or for the multiplayer - after reading the review, you probably will! I think it's below average, but there's definitely still fun to be had in subpar games

@NImH Haha! I do consider myself lucky most of the time! And thanks mate! (^_-)b Though judging by the comments I might be the odd one out on this one, ha!

@Windy @Zodiak13 @Undead_Terror I feel like our tastes tend to align, so I'm surprised this one didn't click with me in the same way! But I'm really glad you guys are enjoying it!

@eviLaTtenDant Right! The D-Pad's never disabled - the game will just keep track of if you use it during the stage or not, and if you get all three coins without it, you'll get the crown. I had to play one-handed to stop myself from using it sometimes, haha.

Also, in NA the DLC is 99ยข a pack!

Re: First Impressions: Getting Our Hands Dirty in Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley

zipmon

@ModestFan93 Actually Bokumono/Harvest Moon is one of my favourite series ever! But I certainly don't pretend to know everything about every game in it For the animals, it was the dog joining the 'livestock' animals in having a bedtime that was new to me - I remember Rover always being awake to greet me even after long days in the mountains in earlier HMs. But I could be wrong! And some returning features are implemented in very different ways than previous games. Building bridges with the Instant Build is a Lego-style DIY process, rather than a drop-in-from-above deal as in A New Beginning, for example, and feels completely new in practice. In any case, as someone who's been thoroughly enjoying HM games for the past 18 years, I thought Lost Valley was a lot of fun, whether or not plenty of it felt familiar

Re: Hands On: Bewitching Bayonetta 2 Brings Action Gaming To A Climax On Wii U

zipmon

@LUIGITORNADO Ha, I actually meant the QTE prompt that pops up at the bottom of the screen, not the controller itself - since the buttons are all round & white, it's harder to differentiate between them without actually glancing down at the prompt, whereas on the Xbox 360 version the buttons would've been different colours, and (perhaps) easier to read in peripheral vision. Though not knowing where the buttons are would certainly make it tougher!

Re: Review: Inazuma Eleven (3DS eShop)

@eleccross Definitely! Shoulder buttons are only used for swinging the camera around on the overworld (which isn't ever necessary) and cycling through menus, which can also be done on the touchscreen

Re: First Impressions: Enjoying the Craft of Yoshi's Woolly World

zipmon

@Benjerocks Good point! In my head 2.5D refers more to platformers where some of the action takes place into or away from the screen, like in Klonoa, where you have to throw enemies into the background to trigger switches - but Woolly World definitely has a bit of that 2.5D "feel" even if it doesn't incorporate the background in gameplay.

Re: E3 2014: Hands On With Nintendo's New Online Shooter IP, Splatoon

@Kirk I think it's shaping up to be special because I had a lot of fun playing it and am really looking forward to playing it more with my friends

@MegaWatts Thanks heaps mate!! =) From here it seems like Ninty's really putting their full weight behind it, and that can only mean good things!

@FalconPunch I asked a rep about local play and was told that we'd find out about the specifics of on/offline multiplayer options later. It seems like some people might've gotten more concrete answers, so we might be hearing something sooner than they intended!

Re: Feature: All Of The Vital Super Smash Bros. Roundtable Details, As Pac-Man Joins The Fight

@MegaWatts - Thanks Martin! It was pretty amazing! =D

@Scanning - Ah thanks! My Smash game isn't what it used to be =)

@rjejr - Yes! Sakurai said you'll scan the figures in one by one on the GamePad's NFC reader at the character select screen. It looked like what you do is select 'FP' (Figure Player) for an empty slot, and then scan in the figure, which will occupy that slot; then presumably you can select 'FP' for a second character slot and scan in the next figure.

@Spoony_Tech Thanks mate!! I've been super impressed with Atlus' 3DS output - I've racked up 100s of hours of playtime thanks to these games and loved it haha! And I'm absolutely looking forward to Persona Q! Super happy to see Persona finally making an appearance on a Nintendo console! =)

@1upsuper It definitely starts off easy, and it's nothing like SMT or Etrian Odyssey, but the challenge does ramp up as it goes. I was still really surprised not to see a difficulty select, though!
