Re: Review: Need for Speed: Most Wanted U (Wii U)

Thanks for the comments everybody!

@Knux - One of my favourite things about the Wii U's name is that it's incredibly easy to turn every review tagline into a hypothetical Prince B-side.

@AceSpadeS - Ah - that makes sense! And it's a shame, silly car companies...

@AJWolfTill - You can see and interact with your online buddies the whole time, the entire experience is seamless! That's what makes racing to the next event so fun - people will try to get a jump start on you, smash eachother around, or just sit in circles honking and doing donuts until the race starts!

@Rod64 I actually haven't! This was the first time I spent any real time with a roller coaster game, and I was pleasantly surprised at how well the experience translates to the small screen!

@Barbiegurl777 I totally agree, the first level was far and away the hardest for me too!

Re: Review: Brain Age: Concentration Training (3DS)

@Mart2006 Haha! Fair play

@DashDG There is! But it's a bit cryptic - you need to go into Settings and change "Doctor's Appearance" to "Off". It also makes his head go away, leaving just a pair of disembodied spectacles - odd but effective!

Re: Review: Unchained Blades (3DS eShop)

@True_Hero Absolutely - glad you picked it up!

@uel It's definitely necessary, but it's only frustrating if you're wanting to be super specific with which monsters you catch. It's pretty easy to just unchain when the opportunity presents itself and amass a good group of Followers without thinking about it! I think it's a really cool part of the game, just one that could've benefited from a more predictable implementation.

As for the Skill Map, there doesn't seem to be any way to reset it or reallocate points. You can view the whole map anytime though, and pan/zoom around, so you can at least plan ahead a bit!

Re: Hardware Classics: Game Boy Micro Famicom Edition

Awesome writeup! I got a silver GB Micro from a friend in the UK last year and it's been my constant companion on trains and buses since then. One of the coolest handhelds ever!

(And Ron's right, it's amazing where you can get away with gaming on these! )

Re: Review: Jump Trials Extreme (DSiWare)

@KnightRider666 Unfortunately that's still the case, even on the 3DS - it's one of the platform's odder limitations for sure! But I find you can store enough on the system for day to day play, at least in my experience!

Re: Review: 3D Game Collection (3DS eShop)

@eks I believe they're randomly generated - at least, you get a new one each time you select Sudoko or Kakuro (or even hit "Restart") and I haven't noticed getting the same one twice! The Kakuros are in a 6x5 outer grid and the Sudoku is all 9x9.

Edit: Woops - I didn't mean to steal your thunder @Windy! I love how helpful the NL community is!

Re: Review: Wipeout 3 (Wii U)

zipmon

@Longaway Thanks, that's a really good point! It's especially confusing with the two generations of controllers being used simultaneously on the Wii U, and a full breakdown is important. To answer your questions for this game:

-Head-to-head multiplayer always uses the GamePad for player 1, and requires a Wii Remote & Nunchuck for players 2-4.
-Trap Attack uses the GamePad for the 'trap-master' and players 2-5 are on Wii Remotes & Nunchucks.
-Single-player mode is only playable with the GamePad, and is playable without the TV.

Hope that helps!

@Pikachupwnage You're very welcome! Yeah, the minigames aren't anywhere near as deep as the Nintendo Land collection, but they are fun in their own right!

@Ideal_Hero Hey that's great!! I'm glad to hear it!

@sinalefa Thank you!! I'm really glad it was helpful! And I'm chuffed you caught the Guthrie reference, too. I almost went with "Made for U & Mii"!
