Was hoping for more editing options in the highlight reels - like trim and crop tools, upload in slo-mo and save to the SD card slot - just so we can create our own 'Luigi Death Stare' moments!
I think the people who hate Ocarina (I can't believe I just typed that sentence, but they exist..) are those who didn't play it when it first came out in 1998. At the time it was groundbreaking, in fact earth shattering (you can play an ocarina?? with buttons!?) but it has of course been surpassed by its 3D sequels..
Wasn't convinced when just was just Tennis & Golf, but now that all 5 sports are out I actually think this a great game. Boxing is much more fun than some reviewers are giving credit for, and Baseball is excellent.
Hope they release some more sports soon, and maybe some gamepad-centered ones
He says that he's been reading comments online, and users will find it 'hard to resist'.. I think that points towards a price cut just before Christmas. What do you think?
The configuration makes sense once you realise many thought the 2DS a gaming 'tablet' - think Nintendo are just trying to get people to think about the gamepad in different ways (ie. 'hold it sideways')
Well I'm a youtube affiliate with a music video site I run - it's really easy to do - and sites like Let's Play and all the others who have lots of views will be able to apply easily, get accepted hopefully, and get a legitimate share of the profits. I think that's win-win.
Twitch feeds have adverts at the beginning, I don't see the controversy here at all. It's a good thing that Nintendo are allowing people to upload their content at all rather than blocking it, and of course they have the right to tag their intellectual property for profit - they created it - the tag is about so much more than ad revenue by the way, but about claiming ownership of the owners work.
The ads that appear will most likely be for other nintendo games anyway. As if that's not enough, an affiliate programme is being announced to SHARE BACK THE PROFITS with the uploader. So who's complaining?
I only hope this is being announced because there's going to more Youtube integration into Wii U and 3DS games!
Yeah I think this a good thing - the Wii U needs more casual games and I think it's a good use of the gamepad - if marketed right it could have some of that original 'Wii factor' in that it looks fun to play when you watch others.
Throw in Miiverse sharing and DLC and you have a great title with lots of potential!
Reading this review I realised, Miiverse stamps are the 'achievements' that Nintendo promised - I had thought they would just appear in SM3DW and NES Remix, but it looks like every major Nintendo title will use them now. Cool!
I still think that before it can be of any practical use for 2nd screen play, the Wii U gamepad needs some kind of range extender add-on to allow it to be played truly anywhere in the house. At the moment, the signal can't travel through walls, making it pretty useless unless you live in an open plan apartment. I'd love to be able to take the pad to another room to play but it just doesn't work. Better still, how about a battery/ROM pack that allows you to take the gamepad out of the house and play VC games? Perfect for long car journeys with kids in the back seat.
The thing that gets me the most about all this is the perception that the Wii U has failed. As a system, I can't fault it, and the games are great. It's just the idea of the Wii U as a failure became very trendy very quickly, and it was all that was needed for third parties to jump ship. But I really think Nintendo did everything they could to attract them. The recent horror tale circulating the internet lately has been all but debunked by other developers, but the damage was done. And I do still wonder if there's a negativity campaign out there, organic or manufactured...
Like did anyone see this lately? Hate to sound like a conspiracy nut but.... http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2014/jan/21/microsoft-xbox-one-youtube-stealth-marketing-outrage
Last time I checked, with 5.5M Wii Us, 4.6M PS4s and 3.2M XBones (according to vgchartz), Nintendo is the MARKET LEADER in this generation. It's time for Nintendo to seize control of the narrative here, and start to aggressively push Wii U on marketing and pricing and maintain its lead.
Wii U isn't dead, people! Nintendo is actually WINNING! (for now)
@Rafie It's pretty common knowledge that Sony and Microsoft have both signed big-money exclusivity contracts with a number of big franchises in the past, so I wouldn't put it past them
I sincerely doubt the veracity of this source, in other words, this sounds like a stinking made-up lie. A massive company like EA would never make a sweeping statement like this.
Steady on, it's still the biggest home console by that number, outselling PS3 and Xbox 360. Which is pretty good going.
There's no indication that XBONE will catch on in Japan next year either, leaving only PS4 and Wii U to battle it out. I'd say things are looking great for Nintendo.

Re: Wii U System Update 5.1.1 is Now Available
I've given up on Tvii for Europe now, like most people..
Re: Sainsbury's Reduces Mario Kart 8 Wii U Bundle by £40 in UK, Down to £209.99
I think they should extend the free game offer to people who buy and register a new Wii U
£199 with 2 free games sounds fair to me

I didn't even know that! My mind explose!

Don't be offended, I'm only talking to the select few Ocarina haters in the world

Re: Sony: PS4 Is "Welcoming Back" Wii Owners Who Skipped PS3 And 360 Last Gen
To be honest I'm tempted buy a PS4 just to play Assassins Creed Unity.
Re: Review: Wii Sports Club (Wii U)
I'd rather see a new Wii Sports collection that just uses the gamepad, I don't think this HD throwback to 2006 is going to win over any new believers
My suggestion: Wii Sports Touch
5 new sports,
Maybe have it as DLC or something. Or while we're at it, where is Pilotwings for the Wii U?
Re: Nintendo Download: 17th July (Europe)
more bloody kirby... give us some Square RPGs. Or Starfox.
Re: Nintendo Open To Minecraft on Wii U and 3DS, and Expanding Its Popularity in Japan
Yaya! Now give us Sim City for the Wii U as an HD version of the Japan-only Sim City 64.

What do you think?
Re: Shigeru Miyamoto Confirms That Dual GamePad Support is Still Possible, But Not Soon
I'd like to see a Wii U mini with a smaller 3ds-sized gamepad. I think the initial clunkinness of the gamepad puts some people off.

I think he means "fewer" games
Re: Nintendo 64 Titles Heading to the Wii U Virtual Console
@WiiULoveSquid
That would be a great idea - and not unlikely since they did had 'pixel smoothing' for GBA games - 1080 upscaling would be amazing
Re: Don't Worry, Nintendo Hasn't Forgotten About The Virtual Console
Any/all of the Square SNES RPGs would keep me happy for now, they've been out in Japan for a year

It was quite funny this morning listening to people complain about the FREE brain training download. Sigh...
Re: Bayonetta Download Code Included With Retail and eShop Copies of Bayonetta 2
Why are so many people STILL complaining about the download size and Wii U's 32GB storage?
Why on earth have you not just got one of these:

Re: E3 2014: Quickfire Shigeru Miyamoto Video Focuses On His Three GamePad Projects

That sounds like a great idea - maybe release some NFC power rangers too, or maybe it Amiibo compatible. I'd buy it!
Starfox will be totally brilliant, it's exactly what we've been waiting for. I hope it uses the gamepad mic and camera for in game voice chat too.
Re: Satoru Iwata Won't Attend E3 For Health-Related Reasons

Get well soon Iwata-san.

LOL. Beat me to it!

Re: Talking Point: The Logic Behind Game Boy Advance on the Wii U Virtual Console

Re: Nintendo Releasing a Wii Sports Club Wii U Hardware Bundle in Japan
It's such a refreshingly obvious idea, amongst all that Wii U messaging muddle..
I honestly think that if Nintendo released this bundle in the West, at the Wii launch price ($200/€200/£179), it would solve all their problems!

Re: System Maintenance Targeting Wii Sports Club Shortly After Nintendo Direct
@GuardianKing You need a wii remote plus - in the UK it's £1.50 to play all the sports for 24 hours or £8.99 to 'buy' a sport and play it permanently
