It's not as if it can't be made smaller (examples Zelda:BotW 13.4Gb, MK8 7.0Gb, Super Mario Odyssey 5.7Gb), the problem is that these games are designed for disc/HDD consoles, you can't just "compress" them. They need to be designed from the ground up to get small download sizes.
I've got my pre-order with Tesco. So either... a) It will arrive 3 days later than everybody else's b) It will never arrive c) The box will be ripped and scuffed It's always one of the above in my experience.
@Tasuki Why? Well, the information is laid out better, I find it more accessible than having to load up whatever device you are surfing on, people like "things", either to collect or because they just look nice. Oh, and it smells good as well
Just hope it's full size. The MK8D one was half the usual size. Felt a bit conned when that dropped through the letterbox.
@Agent721 Call me paranoid, but I could never buy sealed console boxes or games, I'd always be worried whether or not the console or game cart was actually in the package. How do you know?!... Hmmm...
I often hear gaming has got more expensive. But if you take $26.99 from, let's say 1986, and stick it into an inflation calculator, the game would cost $60.32 in today's money. So if anything, gaming has got cheaper!
Yeah, I can definitely see a slimmed down Switch appearing in a couple of years. 720p screen but maybe smaller for battery life and a better pocket fit. Maybe attached Joycons for price savings and better ergonomics. Which will of course play all the Switch games avaialble now and in the future. The Switch IS the 3DS successor. Would be crazy to bring out another, separate system.
@BenAV It is quite hard actually. If you're a more casual gamer, chances are you won't have heard about this until now. If that. By which time they have all gone. I consider myself pretty clued up. I knew what day the Fire Emblem Fates 3-game SE was coming out, and I still didn't get a pre-order in on time. I only hope they make enough of these so that the scalpers are sitting on stock that will make them a loss.
Too many games, not enough money! Especially as I'm planning on adding RPG Maker and Culdcept Revolt on the 3DS to the ones listed above, which I don't think have been mentioned yet.
@FiveDigitLP Considered a speech impediment when "R"s sound like "W"s (see Johnathan Ross). But can just be a dialect. E.g. people from Liverpool region say "R"s as "L"s.
Advance Wars is basically a series of small chess battles making up a campaign. I think if they gave us, say, 3 campaigns, improved the AI so you could have different difficulty settings, included a level design tool, and buffed up the graphics to HD, they'd have a winner on their hands. Wouldn't cost that much to develop either.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE ... and yet Apple seemed to have succeeded in getting multiple iOS devices in my household (7 at the last count) all of which cost more than the Switch.

Re: Feature: Exploring The "Switch Tax" And Why Nintendo Was Right to Use Game Cards
@SLIGEACH_EIRE
So if an 8Gb card costs say, £5.00, then 60% extra is only another £3.00. Hardly excessive.

But I'd settle for the two GBA Advance Wars on a Virtual Console!

I don't know - get a high level Pokemon, give Magikarp an Exp share, and boom - a rather more useful Gyrados!
