@Indy83 Wow. I haven't played Metroid before except for Other M at a friend's house and I remember getting bored to death. Your description sounds exactly like a description of a game I would love. If they did that to Metroid then you are absolutely right in everything you said, as it's rarely seen around here, where it's OK to be blind just because you are a fan.
After the disappointment that was Uncharted, I read Amazon's user reviews before making the decision to buy. They highlight at least one (highly-voted) review from someone who liked the game and one from someone who didn't.
Remove HMs. They are annoying and a cheap way to stop you from progressing. The plot should be responsible for that.
Make the plot interesting. Since White, the story is becoming more interesting, but still has a long way to go. Make it unpredictable for a change.
The lower screen apps have so much potential! I loved super training, but it surely could use more work. Background operations are too slow... you end up tapping the screen in the end. Also, only one activity exists for doing in the background. There's room for more.
@earthboundlink I'm with him/her. You and a lot of people around here seem very fond of the idea that what makes Zelda good is the lack of things. Lack of voice acting, lack of surprise goals, lack of gender options... it's not! What makes Zelda good is the exploration, the puzzle-based dungeons and bosses, the memorable levels, the way the gameplay changes unexpectedly when you get new tools... these things feel great, are HARD to do right and are basically unique to the series nowadays (or at least unrivalled). The other things you hold so deep to the heart are just RESTRICTIONS on what this series can be. Let them go!
I don't think it has get a leveling-up system or complex equipment mechanics, but I do believe the Zelda series deserves to be more than it currently is. Especially story-wise.
If they want Link to be an avatar, they should give you an option to be a girl. If they don't, Link is not a avatar and should have a voice. You can't have it both ways.
@Steel76 Are you seriously finding it baffling that people who prefer japanese art style will not like a Japanese character turned into a western one but will like the opposite? Because that's the most natural thing to expect, ever.
I haven't played the game, but the score doesn't seem to match the wording in the review. Everything in the review points to "poor" but the score is "average". That's weird.
In related news, this game has now officially scored lower than Devil's Third on Metacritic.
