Re: Editorial: Is This a Golden Era of Gaming? Absolutely

In terms of access to pretty much most games ever made, abundance of choice, and the rise of the risk taking indie-scene we are in a golden age of gaming. But don't confuse a golden age of gaming with a golden age of new games, that hasn't happened consistently enough to call it a golden era.

There is a movement that is seeing VGM begin to break through I would say @BorninNorway81. As @HappyMaskedGuy mentioned Jessica Curry, herself a game music composer, hosted a show recently dedicated to VGM on the back of occasional Saturday Night at the Movies specials over the last few years, both on Classic FM. With several games frequenting the yearly Classic FM Hall of Fame charts, the occasional Grammy nomination with category changes having come into effect, and sell out shows all across the world, acceptance is happening albeit slower than I would like. A Video Game music show at the Proms is what I would love to see happen.

Pretty sure Switch has been sold out for the most part here in the UK since the start of last week, online at least. Relented and picked up MK deluxe myself this week, was perfectly happy with my Wii U version (albeit wanting the new battle mode) but my lad has been bugging me as 4 of his friends are now into Nintendo and have a Switch having not even touched a Wii U.

How on earth can i choose a top 3, I could easily argue any of those to be in, would struggle with choosing a bottom 3 out of that lot. That list comprises my most beloved games still to this day even if placed against some of the more modern day big hitters.
ps Kudos on the Jackie Chan/SF nod always thought he made a good Chun Li when I first saw that on video
