Hi Chris. I'm one of those who remembers you from the old ONM days. You were always one of my favourite reviewers from that mag and I'm really pleased to hear you'll be writing reviews for Nintendo Life.
Wishing you (and all Nintendo Life staff and readers!) a very merry Christmas and a glorious 2019!
Why not just try reducing production costs? Getting rid of the charging cradle and console stand that comes with the premium pack for starters and then taking out the TV remote function on the Gamepad (since I imagine not many people actually used it). Not sure how much of the cost this would cut down but at least it would save Nintendo a few pennies.
I remember getting a N64 on my 5th birthday. I wasn't aware what a N64 was at the time (I'd only heard of the playstation) but once it was plugged in and Super Mario 64 started up, i suddenly knew what a N64 was.
When it comes to the world of Nintendo, this site is my only trustworthy source. What I like about Nintendo Life is how positive it is. Not just from the staff, but from it's users as well. People just seem to get along so well and you really get the sense that everyone here loves Nintendo as much as you do.
I would also like to say thank you to all the staff members, for doing such an outstanding job with this site. Your commitment to bringing us all the latest news and reviews is extraordinary. You all work so hard for us, that I'm glad it hasn't gone unnoticed by the N Life community. Just reading some of the comments on this article really shows what Nintendo Life means to us all.
Once again, thank you to everyone at Nintendo Life. Have a happy new year and here's to another successful year for N Life!
Reading this article has made me think back to all the games that were turned into cartoons. Legend of Zelda, Donkey Kong Country, Rayman, Earthworm Jim. Even Mortal Kombat got it's own cartoon! If a game was popular enough, you could pretty much guarantee it would get a TV series.
If there's one game I'd love to see a TV series of, it'd have to be Phoenix Wright. I'm really surprised there hasn't been an anime series of it. Who knows, maybe one day...
So I take it this won't be in 2D like Sonic 4 or Generations? If it's in 3D, I really hope they take notes from Sonic Colours since that was one of his better games. We don't want another Sonic 2006 Tragedy.
Still got my old GB lying around. The screen cover has fallen off and it's got the same vertical line issue. But apart from that, it still works as well as it did 20 years ago. It's amazing to see the old Boy in action and just realise how far we've come in the last couple of decades. Nowadays, portable consoles boast touch screens, 3D screens, built-in cameras, AR technology etc. But back when you were playing a Game Boy, you had to play in a brightly lit room otherwise you wouldn't be able to see the screen clearly.
Not sure if this truly practical. Sure,it's good for long journeys, but what happens when you want to go to the toilet? You'll leave it on it's own, meaning there's a good chance that someone will steal it. Not to mention you'll probably get funny looks while playing it.
I think i'll stick to the 3DS for my portabe gaming needs.
Sad to see you go James. You've been the most professional, realiable and just downright brilliant editor I've ever seen. Not once did I see anything to contradict that.
Thanks for everything you've done and I wish you all the best at Nintendo. No doubt, you'll enjoy it!
I mananged to get Super Street Fighter 4 3D from GAME for just 98p! It was completely new and sealed. Turns out they had overstocked on Street Fighter and were trying to get rid of them as quickly as possible.
I played this as a Mini on PSP. It's good but it's damn hard! Still can't get past level 2. Mind you, I'm playing on the old PSP-1000 and because the screen suffers from 'ghosting' it makes it more difficult to tell which obstacles are coming up.
This is why I love Mario games. It simply appeals to everyone. We hardcore players may enjoy the 3D mario games, but with the 2D games EVERYONE can play them. It's one of the few games that you would play with your family and actually enjoy it.
As for looking back on Mario games, Super Mario 64 will always be my favourite. I had played a couple games before Mario 64, but it was that game that really got me into gaming.
We can all breathe easy now. I think the reason for removing the games from Japan's VC was because the Mega Drive was never as popular there as it was in western countries. Hence, not a lot people played Sonic. So when they remove it, not many Japanese players will miss them.
Does it still play games that use the Super FX chip? (Starfox, Yoshi's Island and Doom used it) I heard somewhere that it isn't easy to emulate games that use it, which would explain why these games aren't on Virtual Console.

Re: The Console Wars Live On As Night Trap Remake Team Holds a Grudge Against Nintendo
Oh no! Now I can't play a remake of a game that nobody asked for!
Re: System Update 8.1.0-19 Now Available on 3DS
The 3DS is becoming so stable, a horse could live in it.
Re: Mercedes Reports a Boost in Interest Since Announcing Mario Kart 8 Ad and DLC Deal
I wonder if other car manufacturers will try to get in on this and add their cars to the game?
I quite like the idea of mario driving around in a Mini.
Re: Vblank Entertainment Provides Sales Threshold Update for Retro City Rampage on WiiWare
Got it on both Wiiware and PS3 so I've done my part.
Here's hoping it won't discourage Brian from developing future games for Nintendo systems.

It was the greatest console of all time.
Re: Atari's "Corporate Comeback Strategy" Includes Games, Gambling, and Wearable Devices
I'm still holding out for a Atari Jaguar 2.

I'd love to see more about Phoenix Wright Dual Destines.
Re: Four Turbografx-16 Games Return to the Wii Virtual Console in PAL Territories
Nice. Hopefully, this might mean that other withdrawn VC games will make a comeback. The Donkey Kong Country trilogy on SNES should be next.
Re: Review: Gummy Bears Magical Medallion (3DS eShop)
Those developers have some bear-faced cheek if they think we're paying for this.

I feel old now.

Re: Halting Wii U System Update May Brick the System
The same applies to all consoles. You should NEVER power off your system while it's updating. Or else you risk bricking it.
Re: Review: Samurai G (3DS eShop)
What else have UFO Interactive released?
Chuck E Cheese Arcade Room ( 1/10 stars)
Retro Pocket (4/10 stars)
Johnny Kung Fu (4/10 stars)
And now this.
Well done UFO. That's quite the reputation you're building there.
Re: Feature: The Rik Mayall Nintendo Adverts You Totally Forgot About
Nintendo should get Rik to do their adverts again. Much better than the ones they're showing now!
Re: eShop Sees Turnaround For Nintendo's Digital Services
The eShop is certainly a massive leap forward for Nintendo.
Too bad they've taken two big steps back with the pricing for full retail 3DS games. (£39.99 for downloading New Super Mario Bros 2? Really?)
Re: Nintendo Download: 26th July 2012 (North America)
Good to see americans finally getting wario land. You've all waited long enough!
Re: Michael Pachter Doubts 3DS XL's Powers of Revival
The hunchpach of notre doom strikes again...
Re: Nintendo Financial Results: Console and Software Sales
DS sales: 152 million
Playstation 2: 154.4 million
That's the target DS needs to be beat to be the best selling console of all time. It's getting ever so close...

Anyone remember the Super Mario All-Stars advert that had Rik Mayall in it? (I think it was only shown in the UK)

Re: Nintendo Readying Third Party Retail Downloads Too
No doubt Sega, Capcom and Namco will probably be re-releasing their back catalouge of 3DS games as digital downloads.
Re: Nintendo Download: 3rd May 2012 (Europe)
Super Hang-On! I've been waiting for that game for ages! Definitely getting that this week
Re: New Super Mario Bros. 2 to Kick Off Retail Downloads
I would love to see Pilotwings Resort as a download.
Re: Nintendo Still Envisions Selling Retail Games Digitally
As long as they don't copy Sony's pricing (£58 for a game? Seriously?) this could be interesting.
Re: Nintendo Reveals Console and Software Sales Statistics
Nintendo DS sales: 151.52m
Playstation 2 sales: 154.4m
A few million more and the DS will be the best selling console ever. Keep it up, DS!
Re: Nintendo Posts First Ever Annual Loss
Well, at least they're finally gaining momentium with the 3DS. I'm sure profits will go through the roof next financial year.
Besides, if Nintendo Gamer is to be belived, they have enough money to get through any losses till 2051! Nintendo won't be going anywhere for a while.
Re: Nintendo Zone Launched in Europe
Sounds pretty cool
Re: Feature: Bargain Bin DS Games
I mananged to get Super Street Fighter 4 3D from GAME for just 98p! It was completely new and sealed. Turns out they had overstocked on Street Fighter and were trying to get rid of them as quickly as possible.
Re: Talking Point: What Games Are You Playing This Weekend?
I imagine I'll mostly play The House Of The Dead 4 on PS3 this weekend. And maybe a little bit of Wario Land 1.
Re: Review: I Must Run! (DSiWare)
I played this as a Mini on PSP. It's good but it's damn hard! Still can't get past level 2. Mind you, I'm playing on the old PSP-1000 and because the screen suffers from 'ghosting' it makes it more difficult to tell which obstacles are coming up.

Re: Ubisoft Wants to Be Top Dog on Wii U
I have a feeling that one of the launch titles will probably be yet another port of Rayman 2.
Re: Rumour: Wii U Release Date Unveiled in Mystery Email
At the rate these rumours are appearing, they'll be telling us it has a new name, plays PS3 games and can make toast.
Re: SEGA to Cancel Games, Focus on Existing IP
I hope this dosen't mean The House of the Dead 4 will be cancelled for PS3. I've been waiting 7 years for it to come to consoles.
Re: New Frogger Title Hops Onto WiiWare This Spring
Great! A remake of an old arcade game that absolutely nobody asked for!
Re: SEGA: "Sonic VC Games Will Stay in Europe"
We can all breathe easy now.
I think the reason for removing the games from Japan's VC was because the Mega Drive was never as popular there as it was in western countries. Hence, not a lot people played Sonic. So when they remove it, not many Japanese players will miss them.
