Guild collections proof that experimental games don't have to be garbage as long as the right minds are in charge.
@AtariRainbow
Boring as in you were expecting an action title? Can you clarify? I mean I wouldn't watch a Cronenberg or Lynch film if I was in the mood for a comedy.
Sweet christ. This seems like the feed was hacked by a ignorant fanboy. I didn't expect idiocy like this even from an EA employee.
As others have mentioned it's not that what this dork says is completely untrue it's about professionalism and how you say things when you represent a company, even if he's no big wig, when people see "Senior" in your title they think you are important.
The gameplay is nearly identical to Link's Awakening so, yes you will. Link's Awakening is my favorite game in the entire Zelda series so I may be biased but I'd recommend them.
I'd buy a Toki Tori remake even having already bought the original twice. It's that fun.
@gaby_gabito EA could take lessons from lots of companies. But you're right these guys are great. I'm a little bummed to see the response that it's performance was only "okay."
Don't tell Nintendo but I was going to get both of these even if there was no discount.
@Shadowkiller97 That's what was so great about them. It wasn't like other games that have 2 (or more) versions of the game that are basically the same title and just have very minor differences.
@Nightwalker I disagree. I'd pay $20 for them. Other than the graphics not being what they can be today they have more content and better quality than lots of games today that cost twice as much.
Not me. I play games for entertainment and like I've said before find it sad when people don't do the same. I am not Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, Android, or whatever. I don't even have that much trouble when deciding which multi-platform title to get. I'll admit it is more often than not Nintendo, but sometimes it's just whichever console is getting the most use currently.
Well I never said I know so much. In fact I am the first to admit I'm an idiot. I play on everything I can afford. Right now really the only thing I don't have is a PS3 and I don't play many games on my PC because it's garbage. And it has nothing to loyalties to any company. I just didn't have the money for it when it came out and I don't right now but will get one eventually. And once I can afford the other next gen consoles I'll get them too.
And just so you know I wasn't intending to offend you. Just saying that we can "hear" all kinds of stuff but even if a lot of people are saying it doesn't mean it's true. I sometimes eavesdrop on my son's Skype conversations with his friends and they can say the silliest things when my son talks about our Wii U or Nintendo in general.
There are some users on other sites, like the one I go to for Vita trophy guides, who I won't mention but anyone who goes there regularly would know, who are the biggest anti-Nintendo dorks and it just cracks me up when people feel like they are aligning theirself with a political party or a team or something and talk like they would die for a faceless company that doesn't know you exist. And I feel the same way about all fanboys. I don't understand why people go out of their way to not play awesome games.
Well again you are saying something you "heard" when in reality it is most likely fanboy nonsense. Not everyone is going to like God of War but Santa Monica has obviously done something right because they have had many titles and are still fun. But to be fair would be to admit that Mario has been around for a bit longer than God of War so of course there are dozens of titles. Plus one is a mascot the other isn't. And if you think all the Mario games are rehashed that couldn't be further from the truth.
I'll just say this. If you can convince me the original, Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Bros. 3/Super Mario World, Super Mario 64, Super Mario Galaxy, and New Super Mario Bros are all basically the same thing then color me impressed and I'll admit it without hesitation that I've been fooling myself all these years.
I get that people are upset that we aren't getting some of the 'current gen' games and that the general consensus is there is no 'killer app' yet. But that is going to change and then people will be buying up all the Wii U's that got sold off because it didn't have any 'good games.'
Sorry for the overuse of quotes and buzzwords. Just have to use them because I don't believe a single one of those statements.
Sounds like we have a classic case of the Nintendo-themed argument by assertion. You, and/or "everybody" thinks or says something enough times it must be true.
The Nintendo is only Mario rehashes argument is a bit trite.
I'm with you. I'm sick of these guys coming out and running their mouths (and the 'fans' who support them and make up fake arguments that rational people never said). There is a reason these people have to follow up with a "claifying" message, and a reason that the people who know how to answer media questions properly don't. If nothing is on the horizon for now. Just say that. Why take a dig at Nintendo in the process? Especially when it is a usually classy guy. And I know that journalists love to take things out of context to create negative news but this doesn't seem like that is the case. You would think these big wigs would be required to take PR 101.
It's not about what they don't say. It's about what they do say. I honestly can say I don't care if I go on a site and don't see a comment from a figurehead of a company singing the highest praises for Nintendo.
But when I see a smug remark or some pompous clown acting like Nintendo is a big joke and they aren't taken seriously how is that not unprofessional? How about be a professional and not comment?
You are basing your argument on a made-up assumption. I don't know anyone who says that and if they do they are annoying fanboys same as Microsoft and Sony trolls who don't need to be acknowledged.
What a shame. I like Ratchet and Clank games. I don't usually do the whole boycott thing but just like with Deep Silver this company is now on my Ignore list. I feel bad more for Tech Land though, because they even came out saying they could make games on Wii U but Deep Silver had to pull the crap they did, so if they don't want to make Wii U games 'just because' after lying about a made up reason then I don't want to support them 'just because.'
Wasn't there some site that had exchange rates for game currencies? It might have been in a Game Informer but it was a while ago. Wonder what the rupee total would be.
@Fusion14N
That can be said for anything. The English language (whether it's European or American) is stupid. I can't recall how many times teaching my son to talk where I had to say something like 'Well I don't know why but in this case you say it this way. Just trust me.'
When I think about metric it just makes sense. The conversions are easier but since I grew up in America it would be a bit difficult to grasp now.
I was wondering that too but when I saw the description on eShop it starts off stating "Test your puzzle solving skills in this spin-off of the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series."
So to anyone who is not into this title I guess it isn't really out of the question that a Mario vs. Donkey Kong 3 could materialize if enough people want it.
I personally love it and will buy any Mario and/vs. Donkey Kong titles no matter what. Whether it is Lemmings-style, platform puzzler hybrid or whatever they think of next.
Oh I know. Just the same way that I agree there are some games that any changes would seem unnecessary. But you never know, sometimes you get one change in a sequel or remake where you go 'holy cow this would have been so awesome in the first' or something where it seemed like common sense.
By the way when you say "all new Mario games." Can you elaborate? Just curious how far back you are going. Do you mean the "New" series or are you talking like Galaxy as well? I haven't played the Wii U title or 3D Land yet but I thought the "New" series games have been good including the first DS game.
Yeah I don't see Disney giving out the 'do whatever you want' contract.
2K or Sony San Diego don't have creative control over the Major League players and team designs. They would be sunk if they tried to sneak something past MLB. I imagine it isn't much different.
I see what you both are saying but I can agree with Idiot that Nintendo is a "true" gaming console as that is solely it's focus. Sony and Microsoft are trying to make a system that does everything. In fact that is Sony's tagline in their ads.
Now that isn't really a knock on Sony or Microsoft. If I could afford them I'd buy them all but Nintendo has always had the most affordable console so I always buy it first when having to make a decision on a new system. And they all have great games and I think it is stupid when people have this loyalty to a faceless company and feel like they have to rip on other people who like everything instead of joining their imaginary Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo team.
So this loss for them would probably be like me losing the $0.84 that must have fallen out of my pocket when I got in my car today. But I agree the Star Wars games most surely are going to allow them to have money fights once they get rolling.
I'm not a huge Star Wars fan and I've never got into many Star Wars games but I am intrigued to see what comes of this deal. Plus I'm excited to see how the new movies will be.
It's not always a bad thing. Bionic Commando Rearmed is 10 jillion times better than the NES original.
The non-Japanese Super Mario Bros. 2 originally wasn't even a Mario game, but was great and stuff from that game ended up becoming part of the franchise and being used in future games.
Man I disagree. People have long said Super Mario Bros. 3 is the best Mario game but Super Mario World has always been my favorite. Had so much more fun and spent so much time finding all the alternate exits and all the secrets multiple times.
Well hey we all have differing opinions obviously. I thought it was fun and I haven't started it up for a while but when I wanted to I didn't have tons of trouble finding co-op.
I don't think the game is without faults but just feel you are a little harsh. I personally liked the RPG elements. Yeah they weren't all that significant but I still found myself wanting to improve stats and get all the equipment. The main problem I had was the occasional slowdown. But like I said I paid full price and don't regret it.
I'm sure there are lots of better options and I'd never heard of Senran Kagura Burst but if it's better than this I'm sure I'd love it as I said I enjoyed this game.
How come? I thought it looked good. That's how I imagine him looking, and really how he always has looked. Plus that may just be concept art as the trailer said it was "in development" if there is anything that people don't like about it I'm sure they'd change it. But personally I think he looks great, same with the actual gameplay too.
I second the Capcom needs to support Mega Man better. I don't know if it's sour grapes with Inafune or way but if that's the case they need to get over it.
@DarkCoolEdge Oh I hear ya on that. I don't know what it takes to convert the ports to the VC but I do wish there was more titles for sure. I have no problem with them spreading across both platforms so I can choose whether I want a true portable title or GamePad support. But don't get me wrong, I do agree the slow drip and lack of variety is irritating.
I know what is in the pipeline which makes the wait difficult, with so many potential great N64 and GBA titles. Just trying to be patient.
I get the frustration but we all seem to think that everyone that has a Wii U has a 3ds. And why shouldn't they offer the games to Wii U owners who wants the restore points and GamePad play? I've always enjoyed having options. You think people would be fine if they never released Super Metroid or Link to the Past on WIi U because there are other options already?
What do you mean a Virtual Console title? It's hard to sound more vague. The gameplay is what makes the game fun though. It's pretty short story-wise, and the story isn't much to begin with but the gameplay is awesome. I bought it at $40 and don't regret it.
@DashDG
I don't think so. There are more than a "couple" hours of gameplay. Yes if you just breeze through the story line you can 'finish' the game in a couple of hours. That is not what this game's appeal is though. People don't play arcade games to just complete the levels and quit because they 'beat' the game.
@Five-seveN
Sorry I didn't mean to be rude. Now that I re read I was and apologize. I should have just said you are missing out if you pass on this.
No, your decision isn't hurting me. But it does Intelligent Systems. I can't force you to think a certain way and it's too bad because they really nailed it with this game. That is apparent as many people had never tried (or even heard of) Fire Emblem and there wasn't a bombardment of advertising to hype it up or convincing people to buy it.
@element187 Just an example of people wanting (feel entitled to) more for nothing. They've had their share of questionable decisions but Nintendo has always been, or tried to be good to its fans. But then when they have the lowest pricing of the "Big Three" then they get ripped on by people about being cheap. I don't want my console to be a media center. I just want it to play games I like.
@Five-seveN If it didn't matter then why is it affecting your decision to buy the game? I didn't mean overreact as in typing all caps and using exclamations. Just that you are acting on one example and what you "heard" from ratings boards and telling Europeans they are lucky. It's just silly.
A backlog is isn't a ridiculous excuse to have to pass on a game. Too bad you are letting such a petty minor event prevent you from playing an awesome game. It's your loss though.
Lord knows I've played many games that have had things I thought were unneeded but still enjoyed the heck outta them. Now if you'll excuse me I have to get back to this amazing game, and I'll leave you to your stand against sexual innuendo in video games.
I've had the same 4gb card since I got my XL and I'm not even close to filling it up. I don't have a lot of 'retail' titles though, but a decent amount, and haven't had to delete a thing yet.
This is an area I think is hurting Sony more. There are so many pros of PSN but the stupid high prices for the storage is enough a downside for people, and I don't blame them, as I filled up my 8 gb card in a couple days.
@Five-seveN I don't know it's necessary to point this out but you are overreacting big time. You make it sound like an interactive hentai game.
If there is more innuendo I haven't come across it yet. In fact I haven't found any inappropriate dialogue yet, as I haven't even initiated this 'boingy' discussion.
This type of response always gets me though. It doesn't even have to be sexual acts or nudity, but even dialogue is too much...in a game where diplomacy doesn't exist, success and victory celebrations are based on you murdering them before they murder you.
@GamerJunkie Nothing impressive? What information have you heard aside from 'we might make this' to form any sort of impression, good or bad?
This says it's completely different from the sequel announced years ago. Until we see something or they say 'we are making it exactly like the first title,' then why not reserve your judgement?
@Melkaticox I wouldn't say Soul Hackers is 'nothing' like this, as the battle system is sure to be similar. The exploration aspect will be different but I imagine this is going to be similar. With major improvements of course since Soul Hackers is like 15 years old.
@BennyFresh There were several Shin Megami games on PS2. I recommend any you can track down. Along with Nocturne, The Digital Devil Saga games are awesome if you can find them. There was also a couple Devil Summoner spin-off titles that are entirely different than Soul Hackers as well but I never played them and they are apparently super rare around here...actually that goes for pretty much every Atlus release.
@Marioman64 Yeah but you can't always get a direct literal translation as it might translate to something that just doesn't make sense.
There are also times where they are changed to fit the culture. I don't always agree or support changes made but they are sometimes necessary, and I certainly don't hate that it happens.
So what did you get a special ordered Wii U that doesn't have the Activity Log then? Both 3DS and Wii U shows they know people want to keep track of that type of stuff. The Accomplishments for Street Pass and individual games that have achievement-like awards contradict that notion of gamers don't want achievements or however Trinen put it.
What I meant by the "bunches" and "whores" is people who talk about achievements like they are some horrible plague that is ruining gaming. They aren't and it is stupid to act like they do anything besides add an alternative way for people to play if they choose to. And the people who don't play a game because the achievements are too hard/too much of a grind/unobtainable/etc are just as bad. So if you didn't know that...well now you do. And knowing is half the battle.
It's not like they are saying you need this number of achievements to progress. It's just such an odd thing for people to hate. That's what I don't get.
@cornishlee Because playing video games at all is "constructive?"
And since when is obtaining achievements required?
That is the only thing that is dumb and that I don't get.
Play for fun, try to get achievements if you like. If not, who cares? It doesn't matter. The anti-achievement bunch is just as annoying as achievement whores.
Good point. If you think about it, it's easier to just let your characters die than it is try again and prevent them from suffering the same fate. I typically try to repeat my moves to try and recreate the same situation. Even though I had just started I could have just let Lissa die but I wanted to try again to protect her this time. Not because I was attached to her but just because I saw it as a challenge.
But if that means I'm not hardcore, so be it. I'm not that concerned with being accepted by the elitists.
Just bought Pandora's Tower last night. Haven't started it yet but I'm excited to do so.
It is nice to see someone say something positive. I had stopped reading the doom and gloom articles because it's hard to read some of the moronic drivel these "professionals" were spewing then the next dingdong would come lap it up and regurgitate it.
I'm not looking for them to sing praises about it but with how impressionable some people are on the internet the people who aren't even giving it a chance are what is killing it. I only wish more people would think for themselves.
Exactly what I was thinking. I know there are always going to be the elitist bunch who have to impress faceless members of forums but I wish more people would play games for fun. I will play Fire Emblem titles on Classic but I'm not going to insult someone who plays Casual.
Just as how I like to play Ninja Gaiden and I honestly don't care if I'm not hardcore because I don't play Ninja Master mode. I don't even play Hard.
Where is the person who claimed that what was wrong with this site is that big name titles get good reviews no matter how bad?
@k8sMum Eh I don't know. If it didn't get overboard with the action. The story would have to be good but you know how terrifying religious undertones can be to some folk. I still am shocked at what people complain about and crap that gets censored. I think TellTale could pull it off. They weren't met with the most optimistic response the The Walking Dead was first announced, and that is excluding the dingdongs who complained that it had "cartoon" graphics not realizing that the television show is based off a comic book. I just don't see someone taking the risk, but I've said that about things before and was dead wrong.

Re: Video: Mega Man Unlimited - The Fan Game That Looks as Good as the Real Thing
@Pierceton
Re: Trio Of Kirby Games Hitting Japanese Wii U Virtual Console Next Week
@DarkCoolEdge
Oh I hear ya on that.
Re: Capcom Announces Two More Wii U Virtual Console Titles In May
@Stuffgamer1
I would give much dollars to play any of those. I'll happily buy all of them twice if they release them on both 3DS and Wii U eShop.
Re: Trio Of Kirby Games Hitting Japanese Wii U Virtual Console Next Week
@DarkCoolEdge
Re: Capcom Announces Two More Wii U Virtual Console Titles In May
@MeddlingIdiot
You are a Mega Man?!
I will definitely be getting this. I love ghosts and love goblins even more so this is a no-brainer.
Re: Code Of Princess Reduced To $29.99 On North American 3DS eShop
@snoox
What do you mean a Virtual Console title? It's hard to sound more vague. The gameplay is what makes the game fun though. It's pretty short story-wise, and the story isn't much to begin with but the gameplay is awesome. I bought it at $40 and don't regret it.
@DashDG
I don't think so. There are more than a "couple" hours of gameplay. Yes if you just breeze through the story line you can 'finish' the game in a couple of hours. That is not what this game's appeal is though. People don't play arcade games to just complete the levels and quit because they 'beat' the game.
Re: Weirdness: Nintendo of Europe Didn't Want "Boingy Bits" in Fire Emblem: Awakening
@Five-seveN
Re: Talking Point: It's Time for a 3DS Storage Upgrade From Nintendo
@element187
Just an example of people wanting (feel entitled to) more for nothing. They've had their share of questionable decisions but Nintendo has always been, or tried to be good to its fans. But then when they have the lowest pricing of the "Big Three" then they get ripped on by people about being cheap. I don't want my console to be a media center. I just want it to play games I like.
Re: Weirdness: Nintendo of Europe Didn't Want "Boingy Bits" in Fire Emblem: Awakening
@Five-seveN
If it didn't matter then why is it affecting your decision to buy the game?
Re: Talking Point: It's Time for a 3DS Storage Upgrade From Nintendo
I've had the same 4gb card since I got my XL and I'm not even close to filling it up. I don't have a lot of 'retail' titles though, but a decent amount, and haven't had to delete a thing yet.
This is an area I think is hurting Sony more. There are so many pros of PSN but the stupid high prices for the storage is enough a downside for people, and I don't blame them, as I filled up my 8 gb card in a couple days.
Re: Weirdness: Nintendo of Europe Didn't Want "Boingy Bits" in Fire Emblem: Awakening
@Five-seveN
I don't know it's necessary to point this out but you are overreacting big time.
Re: New River City Ransom Sequel Confirmed
@GamerJunkie
Nothing impressive? What information have you heard aside from 'we might make this' to form any sort of impression, good or bad?
This says it's completely different from the sequel announced years ago. Until we see something or they say 'we are making it exactly like the first title,' then why not reserve your judgement?
Re: Developers Reveal Information on Shin Megami Tensei IV
@Melkaticox
I wouldn't say Soul Hackers is 'nothing' like this, as the battle system is sure to be similar. The exploration aspect will be different but I imagine this is going to be similar. With major improvements of course since Soul Hackers is like 15 years old.
@BennyFresh
There were several Shin Megami games on PS2.
Re: Weirdness: Nintendo of Europe Didn't Want "Boingy Bits" in Fire Emblem: Awakening
@Marioman64
Yeah but you can't always get a direct literal translation as it might translate to something that just doesn't make sense.
There are also times where they are changed to fit the culture. I don't always agree or support changes made but they are sometimes necessary, and I certainly don't hate that it happens.
Re: New River City Ransom Sequel Confirmed
I must be dreaming. But I'm sure I'm awake...BARF!
Re: These Screens Show What NES Games Would Be Like Today
@cornishlee
Re: These Screens Show What NES Games Would Be Like Today
@cornishlee
Because playing video games at all is "constructive?"
And since when is obtaining achievements required?
That is the only thing that is dumb and that I don't get.
Play for fun, try to get achievements if you like. If not, who cares? It doesn't matter. The anti-achievement bunch is just as annoying as achievement whores.
Re: Talking Point: Fire Emblem: Awakening - The Big Casual Mode Debate
@mullen
Re: Pandora’s Tower Developer Thinks The Wii U Is "Unique" And "Exciting"
Just bought Pandora's Tower last night. Haven't started it yet but I'm excited to do so.
It is nice to see someone say something positive. I had stopped reading the doom and gloom articles because it's hard to read some of the moronic drivel these "professionals" were spewing then the next dingdong would come lap it up and regurgitate it.
I'm not looking for them to sing praises about it but with how impressionable some people are on the internet the people who aren't even giving it a chance are what is killing it. I only wish more people would think for themselves.
Re: Talking Point: Fire Emblem: Awakening - The Big Casual Mode Debate
@chiptoon
Re: Shovel Knight Hits Kickstarter Target, Stretch Goals Set
I hear this game is inspired by Demon Souls as well. I think that is neat.
Re: Review: The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct (Wii U)
@Emperor
So it's garbage because it's a prequel, and not because it's a poorly made cash-in on Telltale's success?
Re: Shovel Knight Hits Kickstarter Target, Stretch Goals Set
Yeah I totally can't tell this was made by former WayForward employees. I'm sold. Looks like Zelda II and Ducktales had a baby.
Re: Review: The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct (Wii U)
Where is the person who claimed that what was wrong with this site is that big name titles get good reviews no matter how bad?
@k8sMum
Eh I don't know.
