Toki Tori 2 fluttered onto the Wii U not too long ago but Two Tribes, the game's developer, has stressed there will be more to come from the feathery puzzler once the first major update goes live.
Martijn Reuvers, founder of Two Tribes, told us in our recent interview that there were many things planned for the future, including the possibility of additional controller support and much more.
The next update will contain more gameplay tweaks, a LOT more awesome graphics, musical additions and the biggest one: a level editor! Levels will most probably be shared through Miiverse. We're also investigating another way to share levels, but that is still highly top secret stuff.
One thing that isn't top secret is the Steam version of the game, which Two Tribes is working hard on now. That iteration is known as Toki Tori 2+ and as the name suggests it will hatch with new features not seen in the Wii U version.
However, Two Tribes has revealed that should the new features be possible on the Wii U they will make it over as well, so hopefully those who bought it from the eShop won't be missing out on too much.

Reuvers told us the big update will most probably be available early in the fourth quarter of the year - possibly late in the third quarter - once the PC version is sent out into the wild. The Steam version is set to hatch on 2nd July.

Well they already commented on that on their site. "For those who are concerned about the Wii U version, we'll update the Wii U version with the Steam version changes that make sense on the platform. "
They won't neglect Wii U.

Nice!
I saw this one has a sale right now, and I am tempted to get it. I got the first one but I got stuck around World 3, and I could never beat it, but I liked what I played.
@sinalefa I would recommend you get it if you have the funds. Personally, the first one was okay for me but I never beat it. Toki Tori 2 trumps the original in so many ways. I couldn't put it down till I completed every single thing in the game. Best game on the eShop for me at the moment.
I need to get back to that game. Bought it but haven't really given it my full attention. (The kids have been giving it a go) It's fascinatingly different from other puzzlers. Love how much they are supporting it after the release.
@skjia
Thanks for the advice. I will get a new eShop card and give this a go.
Graphically the game is too plastic like which turned me off. I plan on completing it one day but mh3u has my full attention at the moment.
I was thinking about buying it on sale this week, but I'm kind of thinking I should just buy it in a year or so when it's "done."
Anybody know if Steam is getting the level editor? That's what we're most interested in. (nvm answering, I'll go check it myself.)
Nice I have yet to get the game, but the level editor seems cool.
@sinalefa Toki Tori 2 is AMAZING! even at the original full price. If you love brain teasing puzzle platforming challenges ... where a game doesn't hold your hand, then please get it. Toki Tori2 is still my most appreciated game on WiiU. I have 9 retail games, almost all the VC releases, and 3 indie titles. Tokie Tori 2 is the gem of my Wii U collection.
Nothing but good things to say about Two Tribes!
Here's some Steam info I went and looked up for the July 2nd release:
Key Features:
Explore a beautiful, Metroidvania style open world.
Discover how to interact with the creatures in your environment.
Follow the path, or stray off-road and tackle the expert puzzles.
Use the in-game camera and snap photos of creatures for the Tokidex.
Steam Workshop: Create and share your own levels with the level editor
Toki Tori 2+ is huge. We dare you to find all it has to offer
Including 30+ Steam achievements
For Mac & PC (uses SteamPlay)
Hey NL folk - I know with E3 coming up the WiiU is due to get a bunch of games announced, but still, shouldn't WiiU eShop games be listed on the WiiU page? I came back here to find this and thought it had been deleted since I've bookmarked the WiiU page as I'm not very interested in the other stuff.
And if you guys are going to do a Top 10 eShop Games of 2013 it would be really nice if WiiU fans could easily find it. Just a suggestion.
Gonna get this game on Wednesday.
its good game i tell you
