Re: Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night

siebenzehn

After a long wait, I finally bought Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. I am playing it now for about 24h+ in the game clock. I'm loving it! At first I heard news of the game being so bad, and I believed the story as most people will say the same. Then with the new big patch with lots of improvement (as stated by Koji) coming along, I decided to buy it and apply the patch before playing. So far I have only encountered 2 crashes which force close the game. So here's my two cents:
Pros:
1. The Equipment, alchemy and shard system are really making it state of the art of Castlevania games, as promised!
2. The map is so friggin' huge!
3. There's side quests now!
4. Loving the different animation for different weapons!
5. Wonderful soundtrack with Castlevania soul!
6. The Japanese voice is just wonderful!
7. Wonderful Castlevania story
Cons:
1. Some part of the map will require quite a long time to load (approx. 30s), and sometimes it breaks my playing mood a bit (you jump up to a new screen, loading for 30s, you have already depressed jump button, so you'll fall back to the previous screen, loading another 30s)
2. The characters models are rough

So my verdict is 8/10. If they take things slowly and improve this game, it could have been 10/10

Re: Resident Evil Triple Pack

siebenzehn

Being late to join in the Resident Evil party, I am very glad! Because I can buy the game pack at a discounted rate of $59.99. I don't really play RE4, because I don't really like going in solo if I have a friend to play with. So split screen RE5 & RE6 are great! Loved the games so far!

Re: Review: Asphalt 9: Legends - Likeable Burnout-Style Racing Action, If You Play The Right Way

siebenzehn

I tried the game like in 10 pm last night (it's 9 am here atm), put a few hours into it. And I don't like what I have found. I used to be a fan of Asphalt series for mobile phone (I'm a f2p player btw), but since my phone is just mediocre, the screen got hot fast and the battery is draining fast too. So, I was expecting to have a decent Asphalt gaming time this time with the Switch, but I was wrong.

Here's my two cents:
Tabletop mode:
Pros:
1. High quality graphics, complete with motion blur
2. Smooth gaming
3. Upgradable cars
4. Multiple nitro mechanics (nothing new for Asphalt fans)
5. Destroying opponents complete with slomo (also applies to your cars when getting destroyed)
Cons:
1. Freemium model (lots of people complaints about this, but actually I don't really mind)
2. Sometimes (like almost 50% of the time), you will loose your left analog control, so you will stupidly crash anything in front of you, but interestingly you can gain the control back only during nitro (go figure)
3. No Pro Controller support!

With all the Pros, actually the game hits 9/10, but it got smacked so hard with the Cons! So my final score is 5/10. I will delete this game if nothing gets fixed soon.

Re: Review: Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition - Death’s A Fine Way To Make A Living

siebenzehn

I am getting my copy sent, and it should be arriving today. Can't wait to get my hands on it! I have played the first Darksiders on Switch (and only on the Switch) and get the ending with almost 100% completion. I think Darksiders doesn't really give you the immersed feeling like Zelda BOTW where you feel like you are absorbed into the story, but these kind of games stands out in the combat. With quite a few of selections of gears, abilities and upgrades, you will appreciate that every battle will make you stronger. Although you don't really have to choose once you get all the ultimate gears.

Re: Deals: Micro SD Card Prices Tumble To All-Time Low On Amazon

siebenzehn

I lived in a country where Amazon is almost out of reach. But looking at these comments, I just wanted to share some info, please excuse me if I am talking about the obvious.

1. You can change micro SD cards. I lived in a country where memory is still an expensive thing, so I just bought multiple micro SD cards instead of one big micro SD for my Switch. Just don't forget to completely shut down you Switch before swapping your micro SD cards.
2. Be careful of counterfeits! As far as I can tell, there is almost no way to know what you are buying, if you are buying online. Check how to recognize counterfeit products. And lastly, according to SanDisk, "The best way to ensure you are purchasing an authentic SanDisk product is to buy from an authorized SanDisk reseller."

Cheers

Re: Billy Mitchell Threatens To Take Legal Action Against High-Score Sanctioning Bodies

Pixels (2015 film) goes live! :,D
Billy here really reminded me of Eddie "Fireblaster" Plant....
A quick look to Wikipedia gives me this:

"Peter Dinklage as Eddie Plant, Sam's brash former video game-playing nemesis and a member of the team.[10] The character's physical appearance and personality is styled after real-life Pac-Man and Donkey Kong disqualified champion[11] Billy Mitchell.[12]"

Would you look at that..... lol

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (September 14th)

I'm very late joining the up-to-date crowd as I have only had my switch for a year or so now. So, I played Astral Chain to experience the up-to-date game, Darksiders and Fire Emblem Warriors for catching up.

I have a good time with Astral Chain in docked couch co-op mode. But I was expecting a solid 10/10 score which didn't happened, it went down a bit to 9/10. But still it is a wonderful game worth all the penny! Here are my thoughts:

Being very late to join the crowd playing Darksiders, I tried to do some catching up. I find it quite entertaining. Here are my thoughts:
https://www.nintendolife.com/reviews/nintendo-switch/darksiders_warmastered_edition#comment5245344

Also trying to catch up with Fire Emblem Warriors. While I agree on most things in the review here. I do have one thing to add about the co-op, the mini map felt so damn small to a point where it doesn't help at all. Other than that it's an okay game with 8/10 score.

Re: Review: Darksiders: Warmastered Edition - The End Of The World Comes To Nintendo Switch

siebenzehn

I am late joining the crowd to get a taste of the Chaoseater. This is my first Darksiders game but wasn't my first hack and slash game. I have played several Devil May Cry series, Onimusha series and God of War series. I felt Darksiders is right at home in this genre. So here are my thoughts of the game so far.
Pros:
1. I don't mind the graphic quality being quite modest in this era of high quality graphic games. I would say the graphic is around PS2 quality.
2. The voice actors are very good because they are into the characters deep, thus making the story more alive.
3. For this kind of genre, War has quite a selection of weapons to deal with his enemies. There is even some power which can be slotted to the said weapons to add in a minor boost to them. So the selection is quite a lot.
4. The soul collection system to buy / unlock stuffs are not new in this genre. In Darksiders, this feels a bit grindy, but the unlockables are quite rewarding, so I guess this adds to the positive score.

Cons:
1. The enemies will just stop attacking when you pushed the (A) button near an enemy when they are quite low on health for War to pull a finisher on them. I have only found one enemy which will involve other nearby enemies when War pull the finisher, and the involvement here is quite suitable.
2. The small enemies seemed quite hesitant to attack War although they are ganging up on him.
3. Sometimes I found myself stuck in some puzzles with no obvious way to solve it. Luckily lots of people have already beaten the game, so I can find lots of help in the internet. But maybe they can enhance this experience by adding in some clues.

My final score is 8/10.

I am definitely going to get all the Darksiders series for the Switch whenever possible!

Re: Review: Astral Chain - Platinum's Best Game Ever? You'd Better Believe It

siebenzehn

Wow, just look at this amazing number of comments! I have just had a good try out of Astral Chain. Initially I was expecting a 10/10 score for Astral Chain, but I guess I set the bar too high this time. It is still a fantastic game everyone should play with a solid 9/10 score.

During my time playing I was only using the docked mode (on TV), so I think I might have missed the slowdown mentioned in the review here. But, I do have some things that might not have been reviewed here, the co-op mode. I love couch co-op games, so this one is not an exception. So here are some of my thoughts:
1. You can't access the Legatus menu during co-op. Am I the only one experiencing this? So, it's quite a hassle to switch back and forth between single player and co-op.
2. No pro controller support for co-op. So, we are stuck with small single joycons. Probably I will try to buy a single joycon grip and see whether this issue can be mitigated.

If this gets patched out, I wouldn't hesitate to give it a solid 10/10 score!!

Re: Astral Chain

siebenzehn

@ryancraddock @Liam_Doolan
Shouldn't this be stated as 2 players? After you got the Legion you can go to the menu and start the co-op mode.

Re: Harvest Moon: Mad Dash Digs Up An October Release On Switch

siebenzehn

@Manski777
my same impression too...

I usually find the positive side of things, but unfortunately not for Mad Dash. Natsume, if you want to make new games with new genre, go ahead, but please don't do this to HM.....

HM was the legend of its own genre back in those days. Mad Dash made HM sounded like a failed Stardew Valley wannabe.... Shame on you, Natsume.....

Re: Nintendo Wins Another War Against Piracy As Court Ruling Sees Offending Sites Blocked

siebenzehn

I think the most effective way to fight piracy is to involve the authority. But this is not an easy job as you will need to do this in every country you are selling your stuffs. I lived in a country where piracy is all too common, but I go against it. I am happy that people here are starting to appreciate IPs, mostly notable during the emergence of the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4, because these times most games sold are genuine.

I think this also has a big impact in a good way. We used to be left alone in the gaming area, no support and no warranty of whatsoever. Now, at least Sony is already taking a step further by providing us service centers, support and warranty for PlayStation 4, but sadly Nintendo hasn't done the same here.

Re: Bloodstained Team Shares Update On Incoming Switch Fix, But There's Still No Set Date

siebenzehn

Looking at the comments here, I think I will try to get my hands on this when there is a physical copy sale in my area. I may get a second handed copy too if that's possible.

I just remembered the good old days when we don't know that a patch is coming because we didn't experience any problem with the game we are playing. In fact, they had to "lure" us to install the patch by adding extra freebies in the patch.

If Koji and his team is reading this, then they need to pay a special attention to this issue. Not making extra money for the effort? Not in the short run. But in the long run, this will give you a big impact on your finances, well not that big if you consider us, Nintendo fans, just a small money. You wanted a surge of fame, and that comes with extra effort. If not, then you see for yourself where you are now...

Re: Feature: Nintendo Life eShop Selects - August 2019

siebenzehn

I bought several games last month, I think there are several mentions:
1. Transistor, I love the game, but sometimes it gets frustratingly hard
2. Bastion, I guess this is similar to Transistor, but I haven't had the time to play it properly
3. Legend of Kay Anniversary, there was a huge discount last month, and I decide to get it
4. VASARA Collection, being a fan of vertical shumps, I just had to add VASARA Collection to my Collection.... But I didn't vote for VASARA Collection, because it is just a nice to have....

Re: PlatinumGames Thanks Players For Making Astral Chain "Such A Success"

siebenzehn

@Old-Red
Don't worry, the big sales they are making is already the reward for both Platinum and Nintendo. And with such a big success, I'm very sure they wanted to make it a habit.

I can't wait to join in with the crowd. But I want a physical copy, and it's still not available here yet. I guess I just have to be patient and wait because I don't really believe in Pre-Order system here.

Re: Feature: Just Who The Heck Is Terry Bogard, Smash Bros. Ultimate's Latest DLC Fighter?

siebenzehn

@Damo
This is a very comprehensive work! Well done, Damien!
I have actually been in the age of Fatal Fury series right from the start, but I didn't know a whole bunch of games Terry was in until you made this. Thank you very much for the info.
You may find this funny perhaps, but I wasn't aware that Terry made into SNK Heroines! And the fact that he gender swapped too! I thought the SNK Heroines was just going to features all the usual girls, Mai, King, Athena, Yuri, etc.... just not Terry.... lol

Re: SNES Games Are Officially Headed To Switch Online, And 20 Titles Release Tomorrow

siebenzehn

Wow! I never imagined they would resurrect Breath Of Fire! I am of the lucky guy who once owned a SNES and a BOF cartridge! It was my first old school RPG! I remembered it has lots of rewarding mysteries to unlock! The elusive Agni is one of the best! I loved Bo's merge ability too!

Sadly, I don't think Chrono Trigger will ever make it to this list, because it's already been released as a single game for purchase in Google Play Store.

Re: Rumour: The Next DLC Fighter For Smash Bros. Ultimate Might Be Representing SNK

siebenzehn

I haven't played Smash yet. But this new SNK character is very intriguing as we have quite a few possibilities here. My thoughts are:
1. Mai Shiranui from Fatal Fury
2. Terry, Andy and Joe from Fatal Fury
3. Kyo Kusanagi from King Of Fighters
4. Haohmaru from Samurai Showdown
5. Ralf and Clark as they have lots of appearances in multiple series. Ikari Warriors (they are known as Paul and Vince); a few Metal Slug series; and also King Of Fighter series

Re: Review: Wolfenstein: Youngblood - Brilliant Co-Op Carnage That's Overshadowed By Its Forerunners

siebenzehn

Digital only with 20 GB download, that's a big minus! No split screen, another big minus! Not even local co-op, but only online co-op, a huge minus! If it has a split screen co-op, I don't care with the 20 GB download. If it has a local co-op, I would consider buying it when I have my second Switch. With only online co-op available, I am still considering it, but on 1/10 scale....

Re: Review: Resident Evil Revelations 2 (Switch eShop)

siebenzehn

The best feature for this game is the split screen and its available for the whole main campaign plus the raid mode! I love playing this game with my partner. Its full of horrors, but now you don't have to face it alone. The story is quite deep and intriguing. The main campaign has three difficulty levels with with lots of achievements and unlockables, if you're into that sort of thing. The raid mode is the best mode of all, action packed with lots of levels, a bunch of characters with different set of starting skills, a wide variety of fire-arms, and awesome weapon modification system!

Re: Poll: Have Your Joy-Con Been Drifting?

siebenzehn

The joycons that came up with my switch had already drifted in less than 6 months of usage! I have already swapped the left analog stick with a replacement I bought online. It was fine until a couple months ago, it started drifting again. I guess I will need to hoard a whole bunch of left analog sticks for the left joycon.... So glad I also bought the pro controller that time, it has been working perfectly until now....
