Thomas, it’s always been a pleasure reading your articles. I really don’t comment here very often, but Nintendo Life has consistently had really well-written, thoughtful Nintendo content ever since I’ve been visiting (4 years now), due in no small part to your contributions. Best of luck at your new job!
This is a great idea for a set of polls, it was really fun seeing what everyone voted.
Zelda won everything except the Wii for me, not that it’s exactly fair, seeing as there have been more “main-series” 3D Zelda games every generation other than on the Wii… since I generally have found both the Zelda and Mario entries to be fun, having two good games vs one does tip the scales a bit. Hm. Even so, I prefer Zelda overall, it is true.
@ballistic90 Did you know that "Scrabble," the game, was named after the word "scrabble," which is part of the English language? It means reaching around frantically for something. For example, if you slip and end up dangling from the edge of a cliff, you might scrabble for a foothold or something like that.
It looks like not all of the bookmark icons (Apple touch icons) have been updated with the new color logo. The 57x57 one is red, but all the larger sizes (72x72, 114x114, and 144x144) are still the old blue color.
I'm liking the new color, makes sense to match up with Nintendo's current branding.
I appreciated how Miiverse integrated right into many games and consisted of a community of Nintendo fans. It let you post screenshots and share drawings really easily. Also asking and answering questions right on the console itself without having to navigate to a website.
StreetPass really encouraged me to take my 3DS out with me and provided a unique feeling of connectedness to people around me who I didn't necessarily know, but I would StreetPass frequently. It's a cool kind of anonymous real-life interaction.
I'd miss both if there's no successor features that serve similar purposes.
Merry Christmas everyone, thanks for the wonderful Nintendo community here! I definitely feel the same way as Thomas up in the article about the positive impacts of these small moments of shared joy in talking about video games here.
No new games for me this year, but lots of family time!
I'm afraid that mobile users might give it a look for a week or so and then lose interest. I can't imagine that a long-term uptick in purchases of Nintendo's game systems and console games will be caused by this, but who knows?
As a game, it looks decidedly boring and shallow to play. I'm sure the deal with Apple made Nintendo some sweet cash, though...
Woo-hoo! I voted for Walleye Warehouse and it made it in. That was the first stage that I ever played in Splatoon back during the Global Testfire, and it's a stage that I really enjoy to this day.
Yeesh. I can't really blame Nintendo or the developer for this... But I do wish there were some actual feature updates to Wii U and 3DS every once in a while, all we get these days for the OS is "stability," and then there's these takedowns, too...
I wouldn't mind cartridges, or "game cards," if you prefer to call them that, but I actually like to buy digitally for convenience (and you get your faster load times too!). I think Titan_Clocker's right that digital will become an increasingly popular and viable option for console video games. My hope is that Nintendo will implement some digital lending system so that I can share my digital games with friends, that would be wonderful; but, for now, I'm fine with the convenience of not having to switch discs or cartridges and having no way to lose or damage my games.
I'm looking forward to this, I think the mechs will add a fun element in a similar way to the Hypernova Kirby sections in Triple Deluxe. I never played any of the DS or Wii Kirby games (I've only played Kirby's Dream Land, Kirby's Adventure, Super Star, and recently Triple Deluxe) so maybe I'm not as 'burned-out' as some other fans of the series are. I just enjoyed Triple Deluxe and am glad this game offers more in the same vein.
I really am shocked, this is very unfortunate. He did great things for Nintendo, and, like others have mentioned, he really did a lot to try to connect with the fans with Directs, Iwata Asks... Rest in peace, you'll be remembered.

He's said that every time, haha.
Re: Nintendo Crowns The Champions Of E3 2018's Super Smash Bros. And Splatoon 2 Tournaments
Minor spelling error... "The shift to competing on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate did not phase ZeRo;" this should say "did not faze ZeRo."

Re: Video: Super Nintendo World Trailer Goes Live, Mario Kart Ride Confirmed
At around 13:19 in the second video, things become really bizarrely/slightly amusing.
Good to see a few more details ironed out about how the parks will be, even though they're still a while off, of course.

Re: Reggie Fils-Aime Briefly Addresses Topic Of Carrying Over Online Purchases To Switch
Not very reassuring, but they may yet surprise us with an actual good deal (i.e. not My Nintendo's idea of a "good deal").

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles Looks Set For The North American Wii U Virtual Console
Now there's one less reason for me to get a New 3DS. I may pick this up sometime this summer. I'm interested in the series, at least.
Also, I appreciate that it supports the GamePad for the Classic Controller support, because I don't have any Classic Controllers.
