Re: Details Emerge on Ju-on Game

lockelocke

The Grudge was actually based on the movie Ju-On, hopefully this is an adaptation of the original japanese film and not the lame american remake starring buffy the vampire slayer. In any case, I'm in agreement; proper horror games have kind of vanished since the RE franchised started building games around combat instead of atmosphere. FEAR was a great combo of combat and atmosphere, tho, much props

Re: Zelda: Spirit Tracks To Appeal To a Wider Age Group?

Um, I beat Link To The Past when I was close to 5 years old. I think the franchise has always been directed at a very wide audience, and has always done an excellent job at incorporating challenges for those who can handle it, while still allowing younger gamers to complete the main quest. I have been concerned with the diminishing amount of optional equipment and quests over the last few entries, tho.

Nice call on the beam of light! I kind of was looking at it like the output of some outerspace type jet engines, but its starting to look like a beam of light to me.
Bit.Trip Beam?

Re: Nintendo Power Reveals New Red Steel 2 Artwork

cell-shading doesn't really bother me, its actually a good way to take of advantage of the Wii's less than spectacular visuals. its mediocre sequels to already mediocre games that bother me; lets hope ubisoft can dig Red Steel out of the grave its in.

Re: MadWorld

This game is high art. Super recommended. A short campaign, but milks replay value with a good array of twisted score based challenges.

Re: StarFox Developer Not Interested in Wii Sequel

lockelocke

Well, even if homeboy isn't down to contribute, I'd be down to see a Wii Starfox, under the condition that Nintendo picks the franchise back up from Namco or whoever did the GC installment.

Even so, I am praying for an eventual release of Starfox 2 for the SNES.

Re: Former King of Kong to Appear at E3

Steve is the man, while Billy Mitchell is the epitome of all things pathetic and evil. Mitchell probably faked that new high score, he's a shady punk. If they throw that on TV, I will be watching and rooting for you, Steve! See the film if you haven't, it's touching to a stupid degree.

Re: Explodemon Coming to WiiWare

daaaaaamn
Looks pricey, but worth it. Hopefully between this game, World of Goo, and Bit.Trip, we'll start to see the bar on WiiWare games raise a bit, I was worried the service was going to dig itself a grave with all that shovelware

Re: Final Fantasy Finally Coming to VC

@retro_player_22
Having played FF1 as a wee 5 year old (my first RPG...aaaah, memories) I'd much rather play it how it was upon initial release. When I downloaded Zelda for the VC to give it another go, for old times sake, and saw that corrected spelling, it totally pissed all over my nostalgia fire.

@ Mickeymac
Why would that be a joke? I mean besides homeboy's overzealous method of expressing his less than humble opinion, I totally agree. Kefka is the ultimate badass. Evil makes him laugh. Sephiroth, on the other hand, has a complex about his origins and is taking it out on a world full of people he can't relate to. Don't get me wrong, I love FF7, but I can't agree that FF3 (it'll always be FF3 for me, just can't bring myself to call it 6) is boring. If anything, I was HUGELY dissapointed that FF7 removed the feature of a seperated party that underwent simultaneous but seperate plotlines. But the game made up for it with one of the most classic magic systems ever implemented, so, in conclusion: Different strokes for different folks, FF1 and FF8 are my favorites, anyhow.

PS - Auto-retargeting is for chumps

Re: Review: Bit.Trip: Beat (WiiWare)

Just pick up the challenges, if they don't kill you within like 30 seconds, they make you better.

At first, the blue dots were a huge source of frustration for me, but what I've discovered is that your eyes start to adjust to the onscreen mania once you've been playing for a bit, plus you learn the patterns. I don't really think it's unfair or punishing.

Still trying to get through Descent! HUGE PROPS ON THIS AMAZING GAME, easily the most addictive game I've played since Tetris Attack or Goldeneye, can't put it down.

@Adamant
I'm with you, homie, best game on WiiWare, easy

Re: Review: Evasive Space (WiiWare)

Good review, but daaaaamn, Matt, you stuck it to em. With words like 'awful' and 'pitiful,' 'average' and 'dissapointing' being flung about with such fervor, I bet these guys are crying on eachother's shoulders right now. How do you sleep at night, sir?
Nah, I'm just playing

Re: EU WiiWare Update: Onslaught and Pop-Up Pirate!

lockelocke

Onslaught seems like it may be a worthwhile download for gamers who only own a Wii, and are therefore barred from the selection of quality shooters on the 360/PS3. Beyond that, it'll have to be seriously impressive to stand out in the herd. Still, I'm curious and definitely open to more FPS titles for the Wii. Bring on The Conduit!
