Re: Mini Review: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass Wave 3 - The Best Set Of Tracks Yet

lightningbolt79

Completely disagree about London Loop. It's a fun course to play on and it is a fairly interesting route. The different laps mixes things up and there is enough variety across it to keep me interested.

I would definitely put it above Berlin Byways which definitely has less going on, apart from the last lap, but even then, London Loop is still better than it. In fact, I was probably quite bored of Berlin Byways towards the end of the 2nd lap.

@Bolt_Strike

So again, this boils down to "this isn't what I want" but you want to try to verify your opinion and make it more important.

Anyway, no point going around in circles. You aren't going to listen and I've had enough of listening to you making your opinion seem greater than it really is.

And there is no way to really gather how many people wanted DLC vs MK9. Some people wanted DLC and a lot of people are happy with the DLC we have. You might not be, but that doesn't matter.

Personally, if I don't like a game or TV show, rather than complain constantly, I just do something else because these companies aren't going to change/cancel the DLC just because I am not happy with it. Also, complaining constantly is never good for the people around you and tends to make them feel bad for liking it.

@Bolt_Strike

Are you speaking for everyone now? Plenty of people wanted DLC. I am happy with DLC.

The world doesn't revolve around you, no matter how much you want it to. Not everyone agrees with you. You don't have a full and complete understanding of what is going on at Nintendo, so please, please, stop acting as if you are the expert and that you are speaking on behalf of everyone.

@Bolt_Strike

And I would say this kind of demanding behaviour is entitled, but each to their own.

Not every game or every part of a game will be how you like it. That doesn't make something lazy. If it were in the same style as the rest of the game, the developers would need to put in even more time which would put pressure on them to release it by the end of 2023 so either they are overworked or the DLC is delayed. More work likely means the DLC becomes more expensive which many people probably wouldn't want to pay for, even if they are "better quality".

To cut a long story short, these decisions are a lot more complex than just "it is in a different style so it must be lazy".

@presenttense

It seems if it isn't exactly what they are looking for, they arent happy with it.

It is what I said about Nintendo Switch Sports. They weren't reviewing Nintendo Switch Sports, but rather comparing it with a game that doesn't exist.

Nintendo Switch Sports is meant to be a simple sports game that the entire family can play, yet Nintendo Like kept going on about it being too simple despite that being the point. It's as if they wanted Fifa level of complexity for all the sports. They didn't care about actually reviewing how the game is, but rather essentially demanding a completely different game they wished existed.

Re: Review: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass Wave 2 - Harmless Fun, But More"B-Side Filler"

lightningbolt79

Just pick a number out of a hat and make a review based on that rather than the actual game.

I'm sorry, but in what world is this a 6? I've not seen a single major complaint about this wave from anyone and plenty of people who are saying they are very well designed and a lot of fun. What more could you want?

Personally, I really enjoyed playing on all the courses and thought Sky-High Sundae was a really fun and unique course that felt fast-paced. I'm also really happy with the updates to Kalimari Desert, which I didn't like too much in MK7, but is much better now with the routes from MK Tour.

Overall, my ranking is:

1. Mushroom Gorge
2. Waluigi Pinball
3. Sky-High Sundae
4. Sydney Sprint
5. New York Minute
6. Snow Land
7. Kalimari Desert
8. Mario Circuit 3

The top 4 are all very close together, so even with Sydney Sprint 4th, I really enjoyed it. It feels like a really bright and colourful track with a lot of variation in the different laps that make it a very interesting track to play on.

Re: Here's Your First Look At Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's New Course, Sky-High Sundae

lightningbolt79

@d-slice

I think this is new in the same way Ninja Hideaway was (although, obviously ignoring that this hasn't been in MK Tour yet). I'm fairly sure this course has been datamined in MK Tour for a while now and is obviously going to be added there in a future update so they probably designed in for MK Tour, but for whatever reasons, it just hasn't been added yet.

I wouldn't go around expecting any more "new" courses considering this has been datamined in MK Tour.

Re: Review: Nintendo Switch Sports - Familiar Fun With Friends, But Little More

lightningbolt79

Should be arriving today! Looking forward to it!

One thing that does slightly annoy me about these sorts of reviews is that you are almost reviewing this in comparison to a game it isn't meant to be. It is meant to be a simple sports game. Why does it need more scope to the sports?

You clearly want a game that is more complex, but this Sports series will never be that. I wish you would review the game that we have rather than wishing it was another game.

Re: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Datamine Uncovers Updated Booster Course Banner

lightningbolt79

@dew12333

Why should NL not report something just because some random users don't want to be spoiled? As long as they have it clear it is from datamining, what is the harm?

This post is clearly about datamining yet you still chose to click on it and then subsequently complain it has spoilers. What did you expect?

It was your choice to click on an article about datamining.

Re: Review: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass Wave 1 - A 'Safe' Start To The 48-Track DLC Pack

lightningbolt79

@Rykdrew

It might just be me, but I absolutely hate it when people say something is "low effort" or "lazy" just because it isn't exactly what you want.

I actually like the look of the tracks in the DLC packs. I am aware the art style of some of them is different to the base game, but they don't look bad imo. Paris Promenade is probably one of the best looking tracks in the entire game.

You might not like how they look, but I don't think that gives you the right to go around insulting the developers when you have no idea how much effort was put in.

Re: Review: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass Wave 1 - A 'Safe' Start To The 48-Track DLC Pack

lightningbolt79

I really love all of the courses. They all work really well and are so much fun to play on! I really like how they handled the different routes on Paris Promenade and Tokyo Blur and they seem a lot more fun than in tour.

My overall ranking is :

1. Ninja Hideaway
2. Coconut Mall
3. Choco Mountain
4. Paris Promenade
5. Sky Garden
6. Shoom Ridge
7. Tokyo Blur
8.Toad Circuit

I still enjoyed them all and wouldn't get rid of any of them, even Toad Circuit, which is last mostly because of how simple it is. It is probably one of the best of the simple courses in the entire series.

Ninja Hideaway was a big surprise for me. Despite playing MK Tour quite a bit, I missed the tour with this track. It is probably one of the most unique courses ever and is genuinely quite a challenge at times. One of my favourite courses ever!

I think the courses look great and really don't care that they are in a different style to some of the other tracks. I also don't care how "safe" they are. If they are fun, who cares?

Re: Mini Review: Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins - The Best Doctor Who Game Ever Made

lightningbolt79

@TheXReturns It just wasn't needed in this review, especially the "certainly" part. I could find a significant number of people that dislike almost everything. That doesn't mean we should write that something is "certainly" better than something else, mostly because it isn't certain. I am fine with people disliking Chibnall's time on the show but I'm not fine with people acting as if no one likes it and I'm not fine with people acting as if there weren't significant numbers of people disliking other showrunners on the show.

Re: Mini Review: Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins - The Best Doctor Who Game Ever Made

lightningbolt79

It is a good game but I find your dig at Chibnall just annoying.

It seems it is "cool" to criticize Chibnall's time on the show despite so many people, including me, absolutely loving it. There are so many standout episodes including The Woman Who Fell to Earth, Rosa (co-written), Resolution, Spyfall, Fugitive of the Judoon (co-written), Ascension of the Cybermen, The Timeless Children, and Revolution of the Daleks. To be honest, I would say many of these episodes were better than this game.

Almost every single article about DW has to have some sort of dig at Chibnall and I really want to know why. This article certainly didn't need it.

Re: Random: Mario's Speed Golf Would Look Absolutely Ridiculous In Real Life

lightningbolt79

@Kiyata

I really don't care if you have bought the game or not. Updates are coming. If you aren't happy with 6, wait a bit.

Most Mario Golf games have some unrealistic element to them. In fact, in World Tour there is an underwater course. It is a MARIO game, which don't tend to be realistic. If you want a realistic game, either don't play a Mario game, or just play the Rookie Course or Bonnie Greens. What surprises me more is that you have played previous Mario Golf games before so you should know that not every element of them is realistic.

I personally love how this game feels and looks. It is my favourite Mario Golf game I have played. I am allowed that opinion. I am not "starry eyed" over it. I find it fun, despite you acting like that isn't allowed.

You barely have a point. Your point is that you don't like the game and are trying to make it seem like no one does.

What are the sales? You seem to have some very telling figures considering you are saying "they aren’t what they should be for a Mario Golf game or a Nintendo first party release". What should they be?

Re: Random: Mario's Speed Golf Would Look Absolutely Ridiculous In Real Life

lightningbolt79

@jariw It's a bit insulting to those who play the sport imo. If people don't like the game, they don't have to make it seem like no one does. I have seen this so often recently - "If I don't like it no one does". I am loving the new modes in this game and overall the game is a lot more fun and interesting than World Tour was.

If they want to play a standard game of golf, that is literally an option. They don't have to act like the new modes shouldn't have been made just because they don't like it. If they want more courses, they just need to wait a bit for the courses to be added and then buy the game.

Re: Random: Mario's Speed Golf Would Look Absolutely Ridiculous In Real Life

lightningbolt79

@Kiyata

Speed Golf is an actual thing in real life. Bit insulting to those people to call it "ridicuclous".

Secondly, it is also insulting to say that "the gimmick will wear off for the ones who are starry eyed over this". It seems to me you think you are right and they are wrong and shouldn't be liking the game. People like it, some don't. Get over it. I am loving it and it isn't a "gimmick". It is a fun and sometimes challenging mode.

Thirdly, we are getting more courses. If you aren't happy with 6, wait a bit and then buy the game.

Re: Review: Mario Golf: Super Rush - A Solid Swing, But Par For The Course

lightningbolt79

@BloodNinja

No, it is not a fact of life. It is you trying to tell someone that they don't really like the games, so, therefore, they were either lying or delusional.

Some people don't have time to do everything that they love and can't make time for it, or even don't want to spend every free minute of the day doing something they love. That is a fact of life.
