@Teksette I honestly don’t think it’s much darker than FNAF. There’s some pretty creepy chase and death sequences, but I’d say it’s fine. Warning for giant rabbit monsters and shadowy oil/snake men.
@Nf157 some cosmetics (including a nifty Ameterasu skin for Soh). Also an arcade style score attack mode. Apologies I didn’t mention these in the review!
@PikaPhantom I did a large chunk of my undocked play after you unlock Soh’s upgrade tree, so certainly not in the opening half. I thought it ran quite well.
@UltimateOtaku91 centipede boss was kicking my ass until I realised the strategy is explained in the cinematic. Once I realised that I got it on the next attempt, easy.
@AlleyCat I ultimately agree. I think I remained positive in the face of hub backtracking and fast travel because it feels like the norm for the genre. I think unlocking NPCs at the castle makes the back and forth a bit more rewarding.
@Chocobo_Shepherd Yeah! The games run fine I think it's rare to have a seventh gen game that requires a patch to run on it's origin console. This did become a thing later on though...
PS3 on PS5 is not possible. PS3 on PS4 is fine with a compatibility patch that I would think is unlikely to be removed.
@Chocobo_Shepherd Re: Music - Lollipop playing over the shop is all that remains. I miss Cherry Bomb, Mickey and You Spin Me Round the most
Regarding combat, I played through the first couple of stages on my PS3 copy to compare and I really feel like Juliet's distance to single targets is more unpredictable in RePop.
@OwenOtter Tony Jay did voice work for shows and games that built my childhood, yet when I hear his voice I only ever think of Soul Reaver. Some people just have iconic vocal chords.
@the_beaver there is a narrative through line that requires you play all three titles. I'd say playing them all is worth it, but if you need to get one, CoP's intro fills in any information required and the protagonist is a new character.
@roy130390 Good point. When I mention the janky AI, I'm more talking about general NPC behaviour, usually the friendly faction Stalkers running into walls or not being triggered during a mission etc. Enemy AI is still solid, in SOC it's a bit more basic, but there's still a challenge taking on multiple enemies.
@GOmar @betterthanvegas I actually think they made the aiming worse. Without dusting off my PS3, I don’t ever remember having such frustrations with general shooting in the original. The visual stability and general fidelity of Unreal Engine 3 feels more glaring too, something which has been improved in other remasters from this era.
@Vyacheslav333 Japanese and English voice tracks are available, if this is what you mean? I played mostly in Japanese, but then I missed Steve Blum's voice
@GameOtaku Sunsoft’s Batman was the first piece of non-comic bat media I ever experienced. Played it before I saw West or Keaton on screen. Will always have a special place in my heart.
@BodkinDQ Always hated how they didn't stick with the FFX queue system for at least a few games...but I also loved XII's combat...but then I hated XIII's combat. Sunrise, sunset...
@Polvasti She is on the clock when her story starts. Is she undercover? Where does she keep her service weapon? Is the stetson made of kevlar? These things are never explained.
@gurtifus I absolutely loved the games systems. As you say, you can exist within this world at your own pace. Life in Bohemia is only as hard as you make it.
With the visuals, obviously the fidelity of the world contrasts hugely with other platforms, but that's to be expected. However, at the time of review, I experienced a lot of genuine visual and technical issues, ranging from missing textures to clipping issues that caused me to have to reload a save. I've since gone back to my save and the game looks and runs a lot smoother.
@-wc- I used to be wait staff and whenever I asked the chef any kind of question, he looked at me like I was a trash mob and he was max level. Which is exactly how my partner looked at me when we played this...
This is true, but there's more of a relaxed pace in between the larger battles here, it makes the skill checks sting a bit more. Best way I can describe it is Metroid Dread with minimal enemies and no boss fights....just the EMMI encounters. This comparison in terms of pacing, not combat.

@BaldB3lper78 Thank's for reading!
The output of this studio deserves to be experienced.

Re: Review: Bye Sweet Carole (Switch) - An Enchanting, Occasionally Frustrating Animated Adventure
@gcunit about 4-6 hours. On the shorter side if you’re not completely useless like me.
Re: Mini Review: Arcade Archives 2: Aqua Jet (Switch 2) - Classic Aquatic Racer Lags Behind Wave Race
@Qwiff good luck with your game! We need more jet ski racers!
Re: Review: Discounty (Switch) - Chilled Out Supermarket Sim Is A Decent Deal
@RainbowGazelle it doesn’t! Feels like a no brainer, that one.
Re: Review: Discounty (Switch) - Chilled Out Supermarket Sim Is A Decent Deal
@Shaw_Brothers shout out for Moonlighter, where you play a shop keeper that crawls dungeons to grow their stock.
Re: Review: The Wandering Village (Switch) - Charming City Builder Has You Manage A Community Atop A Marching Giant
@JevVoi no touch screen i'm afraid. The controls were very comfortable - sticks for camera, d-pad and shoulder buttons for menu nav.

Re: Review: Star Overdrive (Switch) - Uneven But Ambitious Open-World Hoverboarding
@zander_dale 100% I was just coming off a nostalgic replay of SSX Tricky before this. The airborne motion and tricking here is really similar.
Re: Review: Star Overdrive (Switch) - Uneven But Ambitious Open-World Hoverboarding
@Bunkerneath it took me AGES to think of the best BTTF2 reference
Re: Review: Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP (Switch) - This Choppy Remaster Of A Cult Gem Doesn't Bring Any Cheer
@Chocobo_Shepherd Apologies, what I said is only semi-correct. There was a limited digital upgrade system available for a small set of PS3 discs (information here - https://www.playstation.com/en-gb/legal/playstation-3-to-playstation-4-digital-upgrade-programme-full-instructions/).
Your only other option is playstation plus classics collection, which has some PS3 titles, alongside older gen titles.
However, if you have a PS3 like you mentioned, you'll be fine playing Lollipop. I got it going on my dusty old 60gb model.

Re: Review: MySims Cozy Bundle (Switch) - An Easygoing, Entertaining Pair Of Sims Spin-Offs
@Anti-Matter @SakuraHaruka I'm a newcomer to this spin-off series, so I wasn't immediately aware of the differences between versions.
I do know that both titles are ported from the Wii versions, but will also include PC-exclusive content, including the extra characters.
There is no online, unfortunately.

@Smackosynthesis standalone reviews for the other titles are on the way
Re: Mini Review: STALKER: Shadow Of Chornobyl (Switch) - Legendary Series Stalks Switch With A Solid Port
@ozwally aside for some slightly janky NPC pathfinding, my experience was bug free. As a long time series fan, this was surprising.

Re: Review: Shadows Of The Damned: Hella Remastered (Switch) - Cult Shooter Returns As Fun-But-Flawed As Ever
@ScalenePowers I personally love the entire series, but NMH3 is a phenomenal game and feels like a swansong for Suda's heyday.

@CJD87 you just reminded me I really need to go back to Returnal.

@Lightsiyd Platforming is so infrequently required for progression, so it compounded my frustration when it becomes a sticking point.

Re: Review: Kingdom Come Deliverance: Royal Edition (Switch) - Freeform Medieval RPG Is Brilliant But Flawed
@Max_the_German I think the quality of life aspects of big studio RPGs appeal to those that don't want to grind for progress.
The fact that this game makes you work for every inch is both a strength and also a bar to certain demographics.
