Nintendo gets a pass on too much. I understand that on a Nintendo enthusiast site but let’s be real here. People were calling BOTW a perfect 10. One of the best open world games ever. If BOTW didn’t have the Zelda name and was an exclusive on PS4 or Xbox one the game would have gotten at best best 8 and maybe 9’s. Probably would have a meta critic around 84. Splatoon 2 is good but Nintendo’s archaic method of online hampers playing with friends. Arms was a lot of fun. Smash brothers is amazing and all the rest of the major 1st party releases have been ok. I won’t compare the PS4 first party releases because it’s got 6 years on the market, it’s not fair for me to compare that to a console with two, but the person who said that Nintendo’s 1st party releases are better than Sony’s is out of their mind
@westman98 and you can’t say I’m just a hater but again I have all 3 consoles. I play the PS4. The Xbox collects dust and I play switch on the go. But under no circumstances would I ever elect to purchase the switch version of a game over the PS4 or Xbox one version. It makes no sense.
@westman98 no I won’t be shocked at all because people are going to get tired of playing 4 year old games that are inferior to the original just because it’s portable. Nintendo console sales have gone down every generation except for the wii. They struck a niche this time and it paid off. It highly unlike for that to continue. People are going to get tired of the same old song and dance. How many times are you going to make the same games over and over
@Spudtendo the switch is going to be very shortly relegated to what Nintendo has been in recent memory. Handheld games and ports. It can barely run PS4 and Xbox one stuff without being heavily modified. It’s going to be the same song and dance people will buy it if they want the Nintendo exclusives that’s it. It’s selling great in Japan because Japan is big into handheld and mobile gaming. As far as Nintendo’s first party games being better, really not sure what you’re referring to. The Sony PS4 first party catalogue might be the best in the last 20 years. If it’s not you could certainly argue it. Like I said I love my switch but I play it when I can’ play a console. Numbers don’t lie. The switch sales are going to be led by Japanese players. Western players will move on like that always have
@fadedcolors exactly. Switch is outselling PS4 and Xbox in Japan at the end of their life cycle. I’m not surprised by that. It doesn’t always oursell PS4 in NA or Europe. Switch is going to look VERY unappealing to the general public if it didn’t already once the next gen is out. Don’t get me wrong I love my switch, but I do own all 3 consoles and call it like I see it. Switch sales are probably going to be hurting about a year after ps5 comes out
@garydbz25 hBe you played 13? They were decent. Definitely not as they were made out to be but I don’t think they were anything special either. I’d probably play them again although to be honest I’m not sure how they’d play on switch. I think a lot of work would need to be done and I’m not sure if SE will put in the money to port them properly
Xii. I’d recommend. X is ok. The characters really held at back. Most of the supporting cast wasn’t that great and Tidus is legitimately one of the worst protagonists in series history
@BlueBlur101 no, they pulled the plug on scalebound because the scope of the game kept growing and got to too much. It was talking too long, Cost too much and wasn’t running well. I don’t place the blame solely on platinum for that but I do believe they played a large part in it. If you look at all of platinums games they worked on their track record isn’t as pristine as people are giving them credit for
@ncb1397 yeah and they also couldn’t get the game running smoothly on an Xbox one. Outlets and industry voices who had been to trade shows always came away talking about the performance of it. Unless the game is severly scaled back it’s either not happening or will run like crap. The game we get if it does happen is likely to be much different than what it originally was
@BlueBlur101 the problem is 1. How many concurrent games platinum is making and 2. They couldn’t get the game to run smooth on Xbox 1. Switch is going to run like crap or be scaled back alot
You HAVE to take this with a grain of salt. First off if true, platinum once again will be in trouble developing too many things at once. Second off, everyone who saw demos of it always spoke about how it ran like [removed], so Unless they are severely making the game on a smaller scale, switch isn’t going to be able to run it. That being said I’m worried about another game of ANY scope being developed by platinum right now while they have two other major titles in development
@ArcanaXVI I just hope it’s good. I love the PG that gave me Bayonetta and vanquish. I know they were having a lot of funding issues before, even WITH Nintendo publishing Bayo2, and with the money Microsoft was pouring in. I have zero incites into the studios, hopefully that’s all turned around a lot of it sounds like mismanagement of funds and resources. That being said it looks cool and I’m really hoping platinum turned the corner here and we’re back to quality releases
@ArcanaXVI can’t blame Activision for the platinum games being bad. PG took those contracts on intentionally because they needed money because their first 3 games didn’t sell well and needed to stay open while making Bayonetta 2, they admitted the easiest way was making licensed games. The problem is when they were doing that they were making so many games at once, none of them good quality except for Bayonetta 2. In this time frame Kamiya and his team completely blundered scalebound. In my opinion it really tarnished the PG name. I’m hopeful this is more of a return to form like Nier, because up until Legend of Kora PG was on of my favorite devs, but by the same token it won’t be a buy for me until I see impression of it upon release.
My problem with anything is Platinum takes on too many projects for the size of their team. For every exceptional title they have a huge dud. I don’t see how these guys are making Bayonetta 3 and Astral Chain without one of them suffering. Don’t believe me check their track record. There is a legend of Kora for every Bayonetta. They also completely FUBAR’d Scalebound. I’m interested in both titles and I hope they are both good form platinums Games but I’d be willing to bet one will be good and the other garbage.
@JayJ because some games aren’t bad. A 6 really isn’t bad. It’s ok. Not every game is going to be a perfect 10. I have plenty of fun with games that aren’t critical or commercial hits
@IHateTombs and it’s full version will either never come out or be very similar to what you’ve been playing. Early access is a lousy term companies like to throw around now. Every game you buy is early access if you want to go into it, seeing that almost every game released has tons of patches post release
@Paddle1 I’d have to disagree there. You can make plenty of argument that the game is bad. In all honesty, it’s my opinion You’ll have a much easier time finding bad about it than good, if you are speaking from an aspect about the mechanics of the game and the gameplay.

@electrolite77 what is impressive about a two year old console outsellling stuff that’s been out for 6 years and even longer for the 3ds?

Switch has become my go to for RPG’s as I don’t have much time to game at home anymore. Have them both on PS4 but don’t have the time to play them
