To everyone complaining about all the extra lives, when was the last time you saw the Game Over screen in a Mario game released after 2000? It's not that big a deal at all.
I don't like North America's steep price point of 200 bucks for this if it's not going to include the charging cradle, but at least we get the AC adapter. Jeez. How cheap is NoE and Japan?? That's ridiculous!
Also, I really hope that the controls allow you to use the d-pad instead of the circle pad. I've found 2D platformers, where precision is needed, to be really hard to play with analog controls.
I'll buy this game, but I'm honestly not very excited about it. Everything they've showed off so far as been either a downgraded rehash of NSMBW (graphics, music, multiplayer) or some other Mario game (tanooki tail, repurposed fire flower). The only thing that's different at all is the coin-collecting thing, which is nice, but some other different things would have been nice too and probably would have made for a more engaging game.
I'm kinda mad. So my 3DS is gonna be obsolete in like 3 months? And there's NO NEW NEWS AT ALL about Animal Crossing? Shew. It's times like these I just wanna tell Reggie and all the other guys at Nintendo that I have a PS3 and it's not so bad...
The eShop has had some good moments, but I really wish they'd quit it with the over-priced cell phone clone games and give us more VC in the US instead. It seems like when we finally do finally get one, it's a black and white version of a casual game (see Kirby's Block Ball, for example). I know that American journalists are always saying that smartphone time-killers are going to kill off games like Mario and all that, but not EVERYONE wants to sink money into these games, Nintendo. I don't wanna play Angry Birds or Cut the Rope, because that's just a 5-minute waste of time to me; I want to play games like Wario Land and Kid Icarus and Zelda, which to me are REAL games.
My first instinct was to be bummed out about this, but then I thought to myself "Why? Do you really think that Aunt Beulah and that kid you went to elementary school with who is now married with 4 kids really cares that you beat a stage on NSMBU in less than 100 seconds?"
Nadda for me. Well, I do have 500 Wii points left over so I might get Double Dragon 2. I probably won't play it, but it'll be nice to have anyway, I guess.
3D Land's artwork was better, imo, but this is nice. Glad to know the Koopalings are a part of canon again and not just a one-off appearance in NSMBW. I am getting mighty sick of that darn raccoon tail though. We get it, Nintendo: you LOVE SMB3. This would have been a nice opportunity to bring back the cape instead.
I like the Pikmin series and this game looks good, but I still don't see why Nintendo skipped over bringing Pikmin 3 to the Wii. Aside from the HD graphics and a few new Pikmin, this looks like the same ol' Pikmin to me and could have easily came out on the Wii.
@LittleIrves I think a lot of people were just complaining about Wii VC just to have something to complain about, but in actuality, the Wii's on its last legs now and not many people are still playing/buying Wii Points now.
I don't really get what goes into their decision-making process as far as what gets chosen for eShop distribution either as far as Virtual Console goes. The last really good game we got was Kirby's Block Ball and even that wasn't really what I'd call a AAA must-have title or anything. Let's throw some big guns out, Nintendo. It's time.
I mean, really, how much better can the graphics get before they just become photo-realistic? I wish they'd just stop trying to improve this area and work on bringing more diversity to gaming.
30 minutes is a bit too long of a delay if you ask me, but if it will keep the headsetted Xbox-type crowd from spamming me with "noob"s and "fag"s every 30 seconds then so be it.
Disappointed to hell and back with this entire E3 from Nintendo. No Animal Crossing, no Metroid, no Zelda, no F-Zero, no Donkey Kong, no Star Fox, no solid release dates for anything except a recycled (and for the first time kinda bad-looking) Mario sequel. I'm just speechless at the level of suck the past two days have been for Nintendo games.
I do like the background and the world map but do we HAVE to collect the three star coins in EVERY SINGLE Mario Bros game now? Let's try something different, shall we?
Disappointed that both this Nintendo Direct AND the E3 presentation are both exclusive to Wii U games. I want to see more Animal Crossing, Paper Mario, and Luigi's Mansion 2 dammit! Ugh. I just don't really care about this Wii U thing yet and something is telling me I might not ever.
I so, so hope Luigi's Mansion 2/Paper Mario aren't cancelled or in some kind of development hell. Every time I see one of these events pop up I get excited that I might get to see new information, screenshots, or video from these games but it just doesn't happen.
@Stuffgamer1 I think it might just be the concept of G&W that doesn't appeal to me much. It's essentially a minigame collection and while those can be fun at first, they don't keep me interested for too long.
@TheDreamingHawk I forgot to mention the ArtStyle games, and maybe Trajectile in my list of good DSiWare games. Both of those were by Nintendo, but I agree that they should have developed more first party content for the platform and that would have made it seem a bit more reputable among the bad games.
Good update, but nothing for me. I got the first G&W and felt burned. Not enough there to keep me interested so I'm going to pass on the second one. Never picked up Mighty Switch Force and don't really desire to do so. As far as DSiWare goes, not a fan and never have been. There have been a few good entries (like Shante, Cave Story, and Dark Void Zero) but for the most part it's been overpriced cellphone app clones and shovelware. I wish they'd just discontinue it.
It does look bigger, which isn't a good thing from a gaming standpoint. Oh Nintendo, I seriously hope people buy this thing and you don't have a Dreamcast on your hands here...
The demo on the 3DS intrigued me, so I picked up the Wii version of Rayman Origins for an awesome price ($19.99 new!) and am loving the game so far. Such an awesome, quirky platformer! Highly underrated.
I like the demo but seeing as how the Wii version is better graphically and frame rate-wise and also is priced 10 dollars cheaper at most retailers, that is probably the version I'll be getting.
Played some Kirby Block Ball. Definitely the most fully-featured Breakout clone I've ever played (I hesitate to even refer to it as such) and well worth the $2.99. Also picked up the Rayman demo but haven't tried it out yet. My 5 year old nephew got it this morning and he seems to enjoy it though. See, these are the weeks I like on the eShop, Nintendo. Keep this trend going.
If that really is the reason we've not had a VC game in so long, they can keep their cheap, shallow phone app rip-offs and give me some real games on a more frequent basis, kthx.
@RR529 I'll be getting Kirby's Block Ball, but I guess people are more irritated at the fact that it's essentially another Breakout clone (albeit a good one), while other regions have classic games like Wario Land, KI: OMAM, and a host of other ones that Nintendo has neglected to bring over here for whatever reason.
Can almost bet you five bucks the US will get Kirby's Block Ball and some dumb DSi(shovel)ware game, with no Rayman demo. They just don't seem intent on wanting to make any money over here with their digital platform. They did seem to for a while, but it's really trailed off so much now that even the most patient people are starting to get annoyed.

Re: 3DS Virtual Console Gets Big Push in North America
Finally. Jeez.
Re: New Animal Crossing 3DS Trailer Straight from Japan
Bullhell. Why no mention of it in other regions? Grrr. Anger.
Re: Catch the North American Nintendo Direct Live Here
Yeah I do, if I want the best product on the market. And plus I'm old! I've always thought the 3DS' screens were too small. Bah. Eff.
Re: Catch the North American Nintendo Direct Live Here
Uh, I'd have to buy a new one. That makes it obsolete.

Re: There'll Be a New Nintendo Direct Tomorrow
Crossing of the Animals, Nintendo. Make it happen.
Re: There'll Be a New Nintendo Direct Tomorrow
I, for one, am glad. I'm kinda sick of hearing about the Wii U for now. I wanna hear more about the systems I actually own and can buy games for.

Excited most for Luigi's Mansion and Paper Mario, of course. Castlevania kinda looks good too.

Not a complaint but just an observation: I sure would like some Wario Land, NoA...

Re: E3 2012: Nintendo's 3DS Software Showcase Live
I sure do wish that New Super Mario Bros 2 didn't seem like such a copy and paste job. Same music and everything as NSMBW. Kinda disappointing.
Re: E3 2012: Nintendo's 3DS Software Showcase Live
Doesn't seem like anything new or exciting is going to be revealed. Bah.
Re: Bowser and Bison Join Wreck-It Ralph in Therapy
@Some_Chords Uhm. Yeah, I totally did read it. Don't know what that comment is for...
Re: Bowser and Bison Join Wreck-It Ralph in Therapy
I also spied Dr. Robotnik (Eggman) and possibly... Kano from Mortal Kombat?
Re: Reaction: On First Glance, Nintendo Land is No Wii Sports
Yeah, this is definitely no Wii Sports. I hope this comes packaged with the system. Not all that impressed.
Re: E3 2012: Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon Shots and Details
@Hyperstar96 What do you find generic about the game?
Re: E3 2012: Every 3DS Game Announced So Far
Agreed with everyone else: where's my Animal Crossing?
Re: E3 2012: New Super Mario Bros. U Media Blowout
Looks great! Only complaint is once again being stuck with the two generic toads for multiplayer but I guess that's just how the NSMB world works.
Re: Rumour: Wii U Price Reveal Coming Tomorrow
Didn't Iwata already say that there would not be a price reveal or release date at E3?
Re: E3 2012: Your First Look at Super Mario Bros. on Wii U
@mamp Thanks for the lol. I needed that.

Re: E3 2012: E3 Starts Early With Nintendo Direct
I would much, much rather hear about 3DS stuff with this Nintendo Direct conference. Ah well. Hopefully E3 has plenty of 3DS news.
Re: June's Club Nintendo Rewards are Here
They always release the 3DS games I already have! Grrr.
Re: Play Upcoming Nintendo Titles at MCM Expo

Well, it would be something new, but that would take a lot of the exploration out of the game, which is something that Skyward Sword was hurt by.
