Re: Feature: Our Favourite 3DS Games so Far

grumblebuzzz

My favorites so far have been:

10.) Star Fox 64 3D
9.) FreakyForms
8.) Nintendogs + Cats
7.) Pilotwings Resort
6.) Pushmo
5.) Dillon's Rolling Western
4.) Ocarina of Time 3D
3.) Mario Kart 7
2.) Super Mario 3D Land
1.) Resident Evil: Revelations

I just can't get into this whole Kid Icarus craze because of the awful camera controls on the ground. Also, stylus aiming is so 2005 (to me anyhow).

Re: Super Mario 3D Land Director Wanted Cape Mario

grumblebuzzz

I don't get why a lot of people were so bothered by the enemies having tanooki tails. I think it was a cool idea that gives the game an actual story (something a lot of a recent ones have been lacking), and sets its art style apart from the Galaxy games. But I digress...

As far as the cape, I just don't think it would have been implemented in 3D as well as the tanooki suit was. I feel like it's a power up more suitable to the 2D Mario games. That said, I'd love to see it in action again in NSMB3D

Re: GAME Not Selling Mario Party 9

grumblebuzzz

@espinozac7 Hes WAYYYY back in the back on the balcony in the tower.

Also, what's up with this GAME place not selling stuff? If they're in financial trouble, wouldn't it help them to sell products? Glad we don't have to deal with them here in the states.

Re: Review: Dillon's Rolling Western (3DSWare)

grumblebuzzz

7's low for this game. There's a huge amount of content. Mutant Mudds deserved a 7, due to repetitiveness and sparse content imo but somehow ended up with a 9. I take Nintendolife's reviews with a grain of salt lately because they're always either over or underrating.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Courting Comcast for Wii U

grumblebuzzz

I don't think I like this idea. For one, I've heard terrible things about Comcast's customer service and for two, they don't even service my area. Does that mean that since they don't I wouldn't be able to fully enjoy what the Wii U has to offer?

Re: Reggie Also Presenting Nintendo Direct Tomorrow

grumblebuzzz

I'm not getting my hopes up for anything big and major. It's probably Last Story, which I don't have any interest in whatsoever (I know, I know, it's gotten rave reviews, but I just don't really do RPGs). Some Metroid love would be nice but I don't foresee them announcing any major games during these Nintendo Direct feeds. Last time, he announced Pushmo and Swapnote, so I see Nintendo Direct as more of a platform to announce eShop games.

Re: Nintendo Download: 16th February 2012 (North America)

grumblebuzzz

@GundamMac I just have never heard of it. And I don't download games to my Wii much anymore since I don't have internet connected to it here at my apartment. If they'd said Yoshi's Island or Earthbound, that might have warranted me unhooking my system and taking it over to a friend's house to download but some game I'm not familiar with at all, not so much. Not saying Strider is a bad game or anything, just that I'm not excited about it like you guys are.

Re: Super Mario Bros. Ambassador Update Hits North America

grumblebuzzz

I wish there were some way for me to reset and go back to the original quest now that I've beaten the game once. I was hoping that would come in the update but no such luck. I'm still constantly in Buzzy Beetle hell. I guess I'm just going to have to delete and redownload the game every time I want to see Goombas again.

Re: Nintendo Download: 16th February 2012 (North America)

grumblebuzzz

I'm a little disappointed by this week's update in that we didn't really get anything at all on 3DS aside from the Metal Gear demo and the Mario update. Seems kinda lazy. It would have been a good day to throw Wario Land at us to fill the void. I'd like to get the Metal Gear demo but I'd have to erase my Resident Evil one to have room and I'm not ready to let it go yet.
Also, I'm not familiar with Strider so its release does nothing for me.

Re: Rumour: Japanese Developers Moving from Vita to 3DS

grumblebuzzz

I know where I am at in the US right now, there is a lot of attention on the Vita already. The Gamestop I went to yesterday had a whole wall dedicated to it, a kiosk where you could play one, posters everywhere, and even a deal where you could trade in a PSP, DSi or 3DS and get 20% off of a Vita (which is not that great a deal for the latter because if you trade in your 3DS to essentially get 30 bucks out of it, you're clearly insane). The 3DS, of course, is banished to one tiny little corner in the back of the store as usual. That's always how it is around here though: Xbox 360 and Playstation products are plastered in bold everywhere and Nintendo is the also-ran in these stores because around here, it's all about gun games and JRPGs or you're not a "real" gamer.

Re: Nintendo Download: 9th February 2012 (North America)

grumblebuzzz

I'm fine with a lackluster update. I think a lot of the "whiners" have forgotten that for the past like month and a half, it's been one high-profile release after another on the eShop; therefore, my wallet needs a little break. And as for the Wii, I've not downloaded anything to it in at least 8 months so my interest there is dead.

Re: Miyamoto Focused on New Franchises

grumblebuzzz

I would love to see Retro studios get their hands on Mario and Zelda. I feel like over the past few iterations, Miyamoto has held these franchises back more than he's helped them (IE: stripping the story out of Mario Galaxy 2 and making it more linear and doing the same thing with Zelda: Skyward Sword). Miyamoto has expressed his opinion that story isn't important in games but he is so wrong. In 10 years, I won't remember a single character from Skyward Sword except for maybe Groose. On the flipside, he barely had anything to do with Super Mario 3D Land and I feel like it's the most solid Mario title to emerge in years. There's no denying that the man is a genius and basically single-handedly defined what we know as modern gaming today but I am glad he's giving the reins of my favorite franchises to other younger, more ambitious folks and focusing on forging ahead into new territory.

Re: Iwata Hints at Upcoming Swapnote Upgrade

grumblebuzzz

I would definitely like a way to organize the notes. Folders with each friend's mii on them would be a nice solution. Also being able to reply to replies would be great. It sucks when someone asks you a question in a thread that you've posted and you have to write an entirely separate note and address it straight to them. I'd also like an option to include typed text with my messages. I have what is called an essential tremor (my hands shake) and some days it's hard to write legibly on the 3DS touchscreen. Aside from these minor upgrades, new stationary (both normal and Nintendo-themed) would be great for Swapnote as well.

Re: Talking Point: NFC and the Latest Wii U Wizardry

grumblebuzzz

^^ Totally agree. I want to be SO BAD but until they show me something other than a tech demo, I'm not sold. Also if it ships for over 350 bucks at launch, count me out. I just want HD Nintendo games and a better online situation, not all these bells and whistles that we all already have on our smartphones and tablets.

Re: Review: Mutant Mudds (3DSWare)

grumblebuzzz

I'd have given it like a 7 or 8. It's fun, the graphics and music are nice, but it does get repetitive since there's not that much to it as far as weapons, attacks, special moves, story line, characters or unique, new environments. It's definitely no Cave Story but it's not a bad game either.

Re: Capcom Had Resident Evil 5 Running on 3DS

grumblebuzzz

I was saying the same thing to myself about slapping a number on it while I played the demo. This isn't some rail-shooter minigame thing, this is a fully-fledged new Resident Evil game on a handheld system. I hope this thing sells millions of copies because if the demo is any indication, it deserves it.

Re: Kid Icarus: Uprising Trailer Shoots Past

grumblebuzzz

And also, why does Pit have laser guns and all this other futuristic shooter stuff? I thought Kid Icarus was supposed to be set in an ancient Greek-like time frame? I don't know. This has gone from something I was super stoked for when it was announced at e3 two years ago to what looks to me just like some random, generic rail shooter you'd find on the PSP. I wish that they would have made this a platformer in the same vein as the old games, but with modern twists. It's unrecognizable in its current incarnation.

Re: Kid Icarus: Uprising Trailer Shoots Past

grumblebuzzz

Gonna wait for reviews and maybe even first hand opinions from other people before I drop cash on it. The controls kinda scare me. I'm arthritic (yes, it's not just for old people) so games with all this involvement — like this one and Metroid Prime: Hunters — make my hands hurt.

Re: Feature: Nintendo in 2011 - Part Two

grumblebuzzz

I love how Nintendo turned it all around at Christmas. Whereas before you were hard pressed to find anyone who could speak positively about the 3DS, now when you go to any random forum or view comments on Nintendo posts on Facebook, you see that the negative people are in the minority again. Only Nintendo could turn one of their worst years into one of their best with only two or three first party games and a price drop.

Re: Super Mario 3D Land Beats All in 2011 3DS Chart

grumblebuzzz

If you like racing games/playing online, you're going to say Mario Kart 7 is better; if you like platformers and playing solo, you're gonna say SM3DL is better. They're both great games, it just depends on what you're into. Personally I LOVE 3DL and am on my... 4th(?) playthrough. It's the most addictive, fun to pick up Mario platformer of all time for me.

Re: Reggie: Wii U to Boast a "Full Range of Entertainment"

grumblebuzzz

The Wii U just really needs the games to push consoles into homes. Nintendo hopefully learned its lesson with the 3DS launch: it doesn't matter how innovative or amazing a gaming console is, if you don't have the big games primed and ready when it launches, it won't sell. Here's hoping Nintendo EAD is already crafting the next Mario to launch with the Wii U.

Re: Round Table: Looking Ahead to Nintendo in 2012

grumblebuzzz

I really don't think having Majora's Mask on standby would help Nintendo much. It gets love from fans now, but when it was released, it was the most maligned Zelda game since II. It's also the most difficult one in the 3D series, being that there's barely any hint on where to go or what to do and the time limit sort of makes things that much more difficult so something tells me that Nintendo knows these facts and we won't ever see a full-scale remake of this game. The "never say never" thing they said about it originally was just to kind of be nice to the fans who want it imo. Don't get me wrong, I love Majora's Mask but somehow I don't feel like the Call of Duty generation would be all that into it, whereas they were willing to try out Ocarina because their older siblings and parents loved that game so much.

Ok, that having been said, for the 3DS this year I'm really hoping to see releases from all the games that have been revealed so far and more. I feel like while the games that they've shown us are great, they're not the system shifters that 3D Land and Mario Kart were. I really, really hope at E3 this year that they at least reveal something on Smash Bros 3DS. That would get fans of that series going nuts. Even though it won't happen now probably for quite some time because of all the bad hype Other M got, I'd love a new Metroid title too. Also, does anyone else kind of have a psychic notion that a new Donkey Kong game might be coming to the 3DS?

As far as this year for the Wii U, it really needs to pull out some big guns if it has any hope of success. Even as a die-hard Nintendo fan of 20 years now, when I saw it, I yawned. No joke. My body physically yawned. That's not the reaction your fans should have to your new console. They better have Mario at the starting door or I smell the potential for a Dreamcast disaster with this thing.
