Re: New Super Mario Bros. U Confirmed as 1080p, Or Not

grumblebuzzz

The obsession with resolution is really a paradox for me. While I want Nintendo to be competitive this generation with other systems, I personally do not care about how shiny and crisp it looks and I'm sure there are others like me who grew up on NES games that agree.

Re: Ever Wonder Why Pokémon Black And White 2 Isn't On The 3DS?

grumblebuzzz

I'm not into Pokemon, but even I know how huge the series is. If Nintendo had decided to release both Black and White and Black and White 2 on the 3DS, obviously that would have shifted more 3DS systems, right? Hardcore Pokemon fans would buy a new system to play the new game. Sometimes it seems like simple business logic eludes Nintendo.

Re: Live: Wii U Preview

grumblebuzzz

It all looks great, price is reasonable, but I'm going to wait a while for a couple of reasons. #1: I don't have an HD TV so there's really no reason for me to geek out about the graphics like a lot of people are. #2: No must play games just yet for me. Mario looks nice with the SMW-inspired map and all the Miiverse extras but it's just not something I HAVE to have right now. I would say I will be getting a Wii U around April-May of next year (tax time).

Re: Feature: In Defence of Super Mario Sunshine

grumblebuzzz

I liked it, but I've never loved it. I find it odd that if you look at a lot of message boards and YouTube comments, you'll see (usually obviously younger) people clamoring for a sequel. Must be a nostalgia thing, as I'm sure a lot of people who are in their late teens and early 20's got started on Mario with this game. Personally though, I don't really see a need to ever revisit Isle Delfino.

Re: Nintendo Only Plans to Make One 2D Mario Per Platform

grumblebuzzz

@Klyo I've wondered that too. I have this feeling it would have been a lot like Super Mario 3D Land and less like NSMB since that was back in the era when Nintendo liked to experiment with their games more so than just recycle past successes. I must say though that even though these modern 2D Marios are essentially just rehashes of the original DS game at this point, they're still fun and I look forward to NSMBU. After that though, if Nintendo does another home console I would hope that we can lay NSMB to rest and come up with a more original and unique 2D Mario experience in the future.

Re: Team Ninja Interested in Another Nintendo Collaboration

grumblebuzzz

@Hejiru Nintendo itself apparently does not want it or they would have produced one since Super Metroid (not counting Zero Mission and Fusion). And I would only want Retro to take it back over if they wouldn't do another first person Metroid. The original Prime was great, but I never got into 2 and 3 because 2 had that annoying dark world where you died the whole time you were there and 3 had the hyper mode gimmick thing that I also found unenjoyable. I want either a 2D or 2.5D Metroid and Other M was as close to that as we've had in years and years.

Re: Team Ninja Interested in Another Nintendo Collaboration

grumblebuzzz

I personally would LOVE a 3DS version of Other M. Yeah, some people griped about the story or whatever, but that particular version of Metroid would have worked GREAT on a handheld as far as game play goes. I feel like if Other M had been a launch title for 3DS (and maybe not had one particular cutscene that people had to complain and complain and complain about), then it would have been a huge hit. While I was playing it, I thought to myself, "This would make a great handheld game."

Re: Out Now: New Super Mario Bros. 2 Hops Into Europe

grumblebuzzz

If they really wanted to push the downloadable version in North America, they should have released it yesterday on the eShop with the regular update. Mario fanatics wouldn't have been able to wait with the temptation being there of getting the game three days early!

Re: Nintendo Download: 16th August 2012 (North America)

grumblebuzzz

@kingofe3 With the eShop games before, we're talking 5-10 dollars each. With games like NSMB2, we're talking 45. Also we don't have an option to buy games like Pushmo from a retailer, but we do have the option to pick up a physical copy of NSMB2. I totally understand where those people who are wary of downloading these very expensive retail games without some sort of purchase history account are coming from.

Re: eShop Sees Turnaround For Nintendo's Digital Services

grumblebuzzz

Also I really do feel that Club Nintendo should also serve as a cloud to store purchase information. I'm really kind of on the fence about whether or not to download NSMB2 at midnight on Saturday because while it would be nice to have the game earlier than some people and to get the 50 coin bonus, it's also intimidating because if I lose my 3DS or it gets stolen then POOF, it's gone. 40-something dollars wasted. This wouldn't be a problem if Club Nintendo were what it should be: Nintendo's version of iTunes.

Re: eShop Sees Turnaround For Nintendo's Digital Services

grumblebuzzz

@grumblegrumble I agree. From around Christmas time last year to about March or April or so, it was at least one quality game each week, but now they're really slacking and putting out a lot of shovelware/expensive iPhone ports it seems like. I almost dread to see what we'll be getting in North America tomorrow.

Re: Feature: DS Games We Want on Wii U

grumblebuzzz

As long as Kid Icarus remains a touchscreen-controlled game, I won't get into the series. Just playing the 3DS version like 3 times for an hour each time probably gave me carpel tunnel syndrome.

Re: Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate Pushed to 2013

grumblebuzzz

Ouch. They're really banking on Paper Mario and Layton to carry the 3DS this holiday season (NSMB2 is out way too early to make a huge dent at Christmas), which isn't the greatest idea, I don't think. Both are niche games that don't enjoy massive sales. Castlevania could have netted them a lot of hardcore gamers. Kind of a shame.
