Why does it really matter if it wasn't on the original hardware, if the software was emulated accurately. I'm asking legitimately. I don't know why this is a problem.
@DilMan33 Well of course they're not going to take the WiiU off the market, who said that? Nintendo is way too big for anything like that to happen. They could slide by on just the loyalty of their fanboys, but if Nintendo want to ever come out on top again, they need to make some changes. That's not to say there are more Nintendo fanboys than anything else. You can say the same thing of Sony and Microsoft.
Well this is stupid. What if you're a fan of the WiiU but not the Nintendo 64 or something? Isn't that the whole point in liking the page titled "WiiU" rather than just liking "Nintendo"?
I am a HUGE Zelda fan, and that's the reason I bought Soul Calibur II in the first place, but after playing it, I HATED that Link was in the game. He doesn't fit at all and I ended up using Talim and Kilik the whole time. Link stuck out like a sore thumb and his attacks were cheap and annoying.
@rmeyer by that argument you're saying Nintendo should be charging $60 for every re-release of Super Mario Bros. because there are people who may not have played it.
Yes, the author is complaining that it's not a re-creation with a bunch of changes, that's to be expected at $60. The game is 10 years old and full price. That's unacceptable. I don't care how much work it took to remake; it's not like they're creating an entirely new game. They have a finished product, and they tweak it to be better. That does not warrant a full-price release.
Woooow, 5/10 is pretty harsh. I agree the on-foot sections were not implemented well and they do kill the pacing, but it hardly makes the game so horribly average. There are still some legitimately great moments and I'd give it a 9/10 at its best and a 6/10 at its worst.
Holy crap, six figures to buy out a domain name? I wish I had that kind of luck. The person who made the side probably had no idea what was going to come of it back in 2004.
The best one in the series, and a serious console-seller (or me, anyway). The first one was great, but this improved on everything. RSIII had some pretty lackluster on-foot missions but it was fun, too. Shame Lucas Arts is dead...
Finally SOME news about Bayonetta 2. I haven't heard anything pretty much since its teaser trailer at E3 last year. I was getting worried it was in development hell. Well, I still am, but at least there's news...
@Bluezealand I still have a N64, so I'd buy it on that if at all. I'd never give Microsoft my money, especially after this new reveal in which they try even harder to screw every one of their consumers.
I'd much rather see a Nintendo Kart. We have SSB, why not Super Crash Bros.? Except that sounds like Crash Bandicoot...which would also be an awesome crossover...
Have you ever tried making a LP? obviously, you can make an original video that takes much more effort, but I'm talking about a video of similar content. If you just wanted to talk about a game or something like that, it's A LOT easier than taking the effort to do an LP. And yes, people throw around "fair use" all the time, but in this case it's actually true. I know because some of my videos are ad-supported and I read up on this stuff. (no, I'm not just butthurt because I'm a LP-er. I mostly just do unboxings.) I never said you can sell anything without permission. The people who do these LPs are not supposed to be making money off of them but I also agree that it's a bad move for Nintendo to be pursuing legal action against some fans who are essentially giving them free publicity. That's one reason Star Wars is still so amazingly popular; because they fan community is VERY vocal and George Lucas let them have their way. Even when he sold to Disney he made them guarantee it would stay that way.
"Nintendo gives New Super Luigi U DLC for free, they give us 50% off SMB2 if we bought SMW, they gave refunds for people who bought Super Metroid and let them keep the game!"
That's not being nice, that's getting people to come back and buy more. That's like saying McDonald's really cares about the customer because they have a dollar menu.
It's much harder than making your own videos because you have to put in the time to play the game, and that can be difficult enough if it's a long RPG but that's actually the easiest part. It takes twice as long to find the recording equipment and set it up correctly, then you have to render the video and put it in the right format, possibly come up with a script or an outline and record the audio and sync it up correctly, edit the video, and upload it. Unless you're doing some seriously professional stuff, to make your own blogs all you have to do is have a camera and press record. Then upload it. Done. And no, it's not illegal, it's legal under the laws of fair use same as parody, HOWEVER, making money off of these videos without permission is sort of in a grey area, legally. Just as you said, musical covers are illegal without permission. But sampling is not; depending on how much of the original you use, it's another grey area. There's an awful lot of work that goes into making a Let's Play that makes it the property of the LPer, but the only point that matters is that it's based on already-copyrighted material. In short, Nintendo is not necessarily in the wrong legally, but it's still seriously not good for their image. Although, this is nothing new. Nintendo often likes to stick it to perfectly well-meaning, dedicated fans just out of principle.
Holy crap I am really surprised at the amount of people defending Nintendo here. This is fanboyism at its worst. No, LPers are not stealing content from Nintendo and marketing it as their own, and yes, LPs do sell video games. I often watch LPs rather than reviews just to see how the game plays and what the LPer thinks of it. Do you have any idea how much work goes into creating a Let's Play video? It's ten times more difficult than "coming up with something on your own", and it takes an incredible amount of dedication. That's just like sampling in music. Are you saying artists shouldn't make money off of their work just because they worked off of another person's song? Or even covers, and that's a lot easier to pull off than making an LP.
UGH, I wish I still had this game. My parents were super-strict and made me sell it because one of the characters said "you suck" over and over when you punched him. I don't remember if I had the manual to it, but even still I wouldn't sell it. Well, maybe for over $1000 I would
I agree the title is misleading. Should add the subtitle "The Jet Black Mage" since "Wrath of the White Witch" Already made it here. But yes, yes, and yes. I'd love to see this. When I saw Wrath of the White Witch was coming here I was like..."what about the first one
I know it's happened to a lot of people and I think it's just coming to light now because we haven't really had any games worth mentioning released in the past year, and the WiiU has been out for half a year and it hasn't really seen anything worth mentioning yet either. It just feels like Nintendo kind of fell off the radar for a whole year, and I can see where he's coming from
Wow. No. Just no. Another generic FPS, except with someone vaguely resembling Mega Man this time. All I can think of when I see this is Shadow the Hedgehog.
I've been looking forward to this game since I heard about it last month. Of course, I'd LOVE a new NMH game, but this looks awesome. A cross between Killer7 and No More Heroes? Count me in! I really hope Nintendo keeps up their connections with Suda Goichi during the next gen as I don't think I'll have money for the PS4 for quite some time, and I would hate to miss out on NMH3 if it came time for them to "jump ship"
Really? He's predicting Sony and Microsoft to sell 85-95 million units when we know next to NOTHING about their consoles, but the WiiU, which has already done well at launch, even with VERY few exclusives, is going to fail. Yeah, okay...
@Peach64 summed it up perfectly. I've barely touched my Wii in the past year (insert innuendo here), and I've been buying games like crazy for my PS3. There just aren't any new games for the Wii. The WiiU is suffering the same fate, since there are about 2 games on the system worth owning (as far as exclusives go) and it's now several months after its release. Even the ports are mostly shoddy from what I hear, so it's no wonder Nintendo isn't selling either system.
NICE console collection. That beats out my own collection, and I thought I had a lot. Also, I can imagine that would be really annoying being a girl and having people assume you know nothing about video games. I usually assume the same, unless I know a bit about you; it's just not really a hobby girls get into that seriously. If I'm ever in a game store, though, I assume the girls working there know what they're talking about, since they were hired for that reason.
Metal Slug 4 is my favorite one of all. I haven't played 7 yet, though. Three was pretty amazing, but I thought 4 took everything from 3 and tweaked it just a little bit better. Though the ending to 3 was pretty epic.
I played the demo and it was fun, but not $60 worth of fun. There will be plenty of [better] games that come out for WiiU between now and September, and people will buy those rather than Rayman. This is a stupid decision on Ubisoft's part. release it now while the pickings are still slim and even mediocre games will look much better in when you have little with which to compare it.
If you just like sniping, this is a good game. It's realistic in the sense that it has realistic bullet physics, but the AI is some of the worst I've seen in a game. No, there aren't really any run-n-gun moments, but there is the sniper equivalent, wherein dozens of enemies storm right in front of your scope and you have to pick them off. You might think it would get old, because that's basically the entire game, but if you like the premise (just sniping with realistic bullet physics) then you'll get plenty of that, and it does it well, so it kept my nterest even if the rest of the game is sub par.
Provided Nintendo actually said that and stick to their word...chill out. It'll happen eventually. How many WiiUs are you planning on buying for yourself in the meantime?
Hey, if I was broke and didn't already have a Wii, I'd totally pick this up. It looks freaking awesome, and I couldn't really care less about playing online. Of course, no Netflix or WiiWare or anything sounds terrible, but you can't miss what you never had. On the other hand, if I was super-rich, I'd also pick this up, as it looks great and it's another addition to my console collection
