@HAL9000 There's an mp3 version on Amazon.jp. Go there, change language to English and search 'octopath ost'. I remember having problems setting up account, but the workaround was adding to the basket and creating the account from there, I think. Then it worked.
@ShaiHulud In places, it reminds me of Suikoden 2, particularly the battle themes (which are my favourite in Octopath). The melodies are really nice in this, enough for me to have bought the OST from japanese Amazon earlier today.
@sdelfin I had no idea. I had to look at my Vita's download list to check the name of the game it reminded me off, played it years ago and remember loving it. Wayfarer of Time, awesome game.
Lumines and finishing Bayonetta 1. Not a great fan of either genres but it goes to show that quality titles can be appreciated outside the comfort zone. And, I don't totally suck at B1! Lumines, now, that's a different story. I can see how this game will drive me mad.
@WaterDemonBaku I did think that to myself later, I think it was studied that people (I think in the UK) watch TV on average for 4hrs a day or something close to that number. Let that sink in: 4hrs/day, ON AVERAGE.
Gaming is the first thing to go for me. I work a lot, work out a lot and like to have social life, so on top of maintenance activities (chores) there isn't that much time for me to game. I don't watch TV so that helps, only occassional Netflix but that's in the same bag as gaming as they share the time (if I watch shows, I don't game and vice-versa). However, gaming has helped me in the past with depression and sadness; then I played a lot more to the point where you could've said that I exhibited said behaviours. But, it was just a coping mechanism; these days are long gone, though.
There's something comforting in knowing that you hold a complete game in your hand, nothing cut, nothing added, all as intended. DLC, announded or not, can somewhat curb enjoyment of the game, or make it more exciting for the same reason. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. What it usually does to me, though, is I hold off buying a game and wait for a complete edition with everything included. With so many games and huge backlogs etc. I really don't mind not always playing the latest.
@Octane I guess a lot of players got burned by playing online games that didn't have enough players, as their popularity grew in general, maybe? Then servers get switched off, but if you get a multi-platform release with cross-play, it immediately gives more mileage.
Add Amazon whilst you're at it and I might even sell my PS4, lol. I am the same, I keep juggling between systems for watching flicks' and playing Nintendo. All in one place would be great, even better with downloadable shows that I can take with me and watch on a plane. It's again just taking unique advantage of the system being home and portable, why not make the most of it?
Sony has a lot to lose. They want to keep their dominant position, if cross-play becomes the norm, one major differentiator between consoles disappears.
Having said that, Switch isn't a direct competitor, really, so they could/should have allowed it. They are complementing systems, and indeed many gamers have and enjoy both systems for different reasons, I am one of them. Xbox is a more direct competitor obviously, but they are drawing the hard line and include Switch outside of it, which I actually believe is a mistake. The Fortnite battle is probably lost (no pun intended), but it's a clear signal to Sony that they need to start being careful in their decision-making in the future as it may come biting back and we all know how that can end if the past taught us anything.
Xenoblade X port would be nice, but I am hoping for more cool jRPG announcements in general, maybe new IPs? As for a revival, Suikoden would be a great fit for the system... one can dream.
@SmaggTheSmug Different people have a different sensitivity to bitterness. Believe it or not, broccoli can taste extremely bitter to some. Not to me, I love it, but that's how it got a bad rep. Evil broccoli.
I hope this will be a 'single player home edition' type that will make the joy cons chunkier for easier grip, introduce d-pad and fixes the positioning of the sticks. I love playing on TV holding them separately in my hands, much more comfortable, I can put my wrist in neutral position. That's how I played in the Wii era with the controler and nunchuck and it was my favourite set up.
160+hrs in, and loved every second. My love for JRPGs has been truly rekindled. I bought Switch for this game and so far it has been my only game on the system (I don't have much time for gaming, so am squeezing 1-0.5hr sessions and that's how I played the entire game).
I mirror the comments re the new blades, the game really doesn't need them but I understand that it is a way to add new quests. I just wish they were more linked to the story somehow, embellishing it even more but it is what it is. Not needed for superbosses, which I've all beaten first time without really trying, at least until the extreme difficulty hits. Min-maxing different combinations is not needed until then; new blades may become fun/necessary then.
VR is the obvious option isn't it? You already have the screen that could slot both into a dock and a (cardboard ) pair of VR goggles. Joy-Cons 2 used for movements in virtual reality etc.
I follow Mitsuda on FB so was on it as soon as he posted a message about the soundtrack. Managed to pre-order the CD edition, was not interested in the USB expecting it to be in a crappy MP3 format or something similar. So happy, my birthday is end of May so I should get it around then as a gift to myself.

Somehow this reminded me of Growlanser; now, there's an idea for a game on Switch.

I will so love this game. Edit: to me it gives a slight Suikoden 2 vibe, how I wish we got more of S...

@OfNullAndVoid I remember reading somewhere online that this adventure takes place after the comic books' story.
