Re: Guide: How to Transfer from a 3DS to a New Nintendo 3DS / XL

A word of warning about this guide, specifically this bit:

"Now connect your micro-SDHC card to the computer and simply copy/paste/move that former SD card content onto it."

Absolutely do NOT just do this. You have to initialise the new card on your 3DS first, then merge some of the folders from the old one with some on the new one (and they're specific folders - so be careful).

If you don't, and the official Nintendo guide doesn't do this step either, you may find data goes missing. Stuff like some game "extra" data, photos, streetpasses, progress in Streetpass Quest, some game saves, some downloaded content, etc.

I still haven't finished the stuff that came with the main game in Hyrule Warriors (I'm only 106 hours in) let alone the already-released DLC. But since I got the "season pass" (ergh at that term), I'll end up with them all anyway.

Good job it's the best game ever.

Axelay, Afterburner II and Wii U Adventure Time for me. Yes, I know AT isn't great, but it's a bargain at that price so worth a punt I think.

Runner 2, Guacamelee! and SteamWorld Dig are bargains - if you've not got them yet I thoroughly recommend downloading them this week!

@maceng in my current 3DS I have a "Lexar Professional 64GB Class 10 UHS-1 400x 60MB/s High Speed SDXC Memory Card". I've just bought a Samsung EVO 64GB MicroSD for a magically incoming New 3DS

I wrote a guide on how to transfer data from one card to another (Nintendo's method doesn't copy everything) and how to use an SDXC (rather than an SD or SDHC) card: http://lofi-gaming.org.uk/blog/2013/10/25/updated-how-to-upgrade-your-3ds-sd-card-to-64gb-and-beyond/

Re: Best of Mahjong

Let me guess - another game that claims to be Mahjongg but is actually just Shanghai. Again.

Why aren't there any actual Mahjongg games unless you have a Famicom?

Re: Review: Swords & Soldiers (Wii U eShop)

What I'd like to know is if they've fixed the last level so it isn't impossible any more. There's difficulty curves in games, sure, but in the Wii original this was like a gentle incline throughout the entire followed by the final level - a vertical wall twelve miles high. With spikes on it. And ninjas.

Re: Hardware Classics: Bandai WonderSwan

The Wonderswan was so cheap. I picked my first up, soon after release, for just £30. My SwanCrystal only cost about £40 too, not long after that came out. I don't think I paid more than £15 for any of the games - not even FFI, FFII and FFIV.

Loved the console, and it had some great unknown games. Disappointed that you've not mentioned Engacho! despite having a picture of it - it was certainly... unique: http://lofi-gaming.org.uk/museum/games/game.php?id=291

Also great were Flash, Tarepanda no Gunpey, and (my first game for it) Tekken Card Fighters - the only Tekken game I've ever enjoyed!

Not sure why people are getting excited about Balloon Fight being 60Hz - it isn't. It clearly says "This is an optimised release of the EU version to reflect the speed of the US title." - therefore NOT 60Hz.

@Alphack3r It's my tagline! They stole it! https://twitter.com/dekay01/status/339652752663801856

Also: "Also included is a two-player link-up mode and the option to switch the order of the beast transformations; for example, the dragon becomes level one's monster and the wolf level two's. It's an interesting change and one that we admit we could have done with back in the early '90s, as it lends additional longevity to what is a painfully brief experience."

That facility was in the original Megadrive game!
