A day later than normal, we have the European download news to enjoy, and it's a packed lineup this week. We have various new and old goodies on Wii U and 3DS, even if the Wii and DSi miss out once again. Whatever your budget or favoured genre, you have decent odds of finding something this week, so let's get to it.
Wii U Retail Downloads
Game & Wario (Nintendo, €39.99 / £34.99) — This may not have as much zaniness as the WarioWare series, but it nevertheless offers up some fun single and multiplayer games that utilise the GamePad. Check out our Game & Wario review for the full breakdown; this is available from 28th June.
F1 Race Stars: Powered Up Edition (Codemasters, €49.99 / £39.99)
Wii U Virtual Console
Balloon Fight (Nintendo, €4.99 / £3.49) — The first Famicom Anniversary promotion game now arrives at full price, bringing its simple button tapping formula formally to the Virtual Console. You can see what we thought in our Balloon Fight review. This is an optimised release of the EU version to reflect the speed of the US title.
Vegas Stakes (Nintendo, €7.99 / £5.49) — An opportunity to hit the 16-bit casino, which is something we don't get to type often here on Nintendo Life. In that sense it's unique, and earned a decent recommendation in our Wii Virtual Console Vegas Stakes review. This does include multiplayer and is the US version of the game.
3DS eShop
Dillon's Rolling Western: The Last Ranger (Nintendo, €6.99 / £6.29 until 4th July, then will be €9.99 / £8.99) — Coming in at a special initial discount, fans of this eShop IP in Europe can finally jump into the armadillo's sequel. Once again it brings real-time action tower defence with stylus controls, though we were disappointed with the lack of evolution from the original in our Dillon's Rolling Western: The Last Ranger review.
Mighty Switch Force! 2 (WayForward, €5.00 / £5.00) — WayForward's long awaited sequel finally hits the eShop in Europe, as Patricia Wagon sets off with a hose to douse flames and rescue ugly babies. Fans of the original will be eager, though as we explained in our Mighty Switch Force! 2 review, this one feels a little too familiar to the original, but is still worth considering.
Aqua Moto Racing 3D (Zordix AB, €9.99 / £8.99) — Zordix AB makes its 3DS eShop debut with a series that has served it very well on smartphones. It'll attempt to replicate that success, and with local multiplayer joining a career mode, fans of the Wave Race titles may be tempted; we'll see whether it makes good waves in our upcoming review.
Urban Trial Freestyle (Tate Multimedia, €5.99 / £4.99 until 4th July, then €6.99 / £6.29) — A title aiming for a similar market as the Trials franchise, this bike stunt game has also appeared on PS3 and the PS Vita, but in this case includes a level editor exclusive to the 3DS version. We'll see whether its stunts are suitably impressive and bring you a review soon.
3D MahJongg (JoinDots, €9.99 / £9.79) — This is the solitaire variant of Mahjongg, matchmaking in other words, and is a thoroughly competent version, too. With lots of content and levels, this is worth considering; check out our 3D Mahjongg review for the lowdown.
3DS Virtual Console
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (SEGA, €4.99 / £4.49) — The Game Gear bonanza continues with the second portable appearance of the famous mascot. We'll get our speed boots on to let you know whether, like the first title, this is worth picking up on the 3DS.
Crystal Warriors, (€3.99 / £3.59) — It's another Game Gear strategy title, and once again you're saving a kingdom from doom. This title does give you the option to tame beasts to fight on your side, while friends can challenge each other in local multiplayer; we'll let you know what we think in our upcoming review.
3DS Retail Download
Mon Haras 3D – Au gallop vers l’aventure (Treva Entertainment, €39.99) — This is an exciting 3D horse adventure, apparently.
3DS Retail Demo
Project X Zone (Namco Bandai, free) — The second demo for this title to hit Europe; this one's called Dark Hours. It's free, so why not? Keep an eye out for our review of the full game later today.

So Ballon Fight runs at 60hz now or am i missunderstanding? Will those who already have the game get an uppdate?
Yet ANOTHER Mahjongg game which isn't actually Mahjongg. So disappointing
F1 race stars is a horrible horrible game on the ps3!
Dillon shouldn't be a header image, the first game was terrible. Not getting the sequel at any price.
Another good week for the 3DS but I'm only getting the second Project X Zone demo. Tempted by those discounts but I still have too many games to finish off.
Aw Man Vegas Stakes is awesome.
What happened to those Capcom remasters? I thought they were meant to be arriving in June.
@Aloth It's a nice game for 10$, but 50$? LOL
Nothing for me, except I might give the project x zone demo a whirl.
oh yeah antoher project X zone demo where i won' have any idea what is going on xD
can't wait for the reviews of that urban trials game and aqua moto racing
I completely forgot that we didn't have the second Dillon game yet...
We're never going to get Cave Story + are we
MSF and Urban Trial for me this week!
Game Gear FTW
Wow, MSF!2 for 5€!? It's a steal! Day one for me. What surprises me is the fact that it costs less in continental Europe. Lucky us .
Mighty Switch Force 2 seems to be priced very well.
A bit off topic and just as a point of interest, went into my Mii Plaza on my 3DS today, and my Exchange Booth is offering the first complete Mii Costume change I've seen so far (NOT JUST THE HAT). It is for Link's costume, which I got, and other than having the hat, the tunic is just green, has a tiny 'V' neck, and a brown belt buckle.
Pic here! http://tinypic.com/r/6gbq15/5
Did you guys mean "keep an eye out for our review of the full game later today" for the Project X Zone demo?
MSF! 2 obviously
We should be done with Wii. The Wii U virtual console is moving at a much slower pace than the Wii, and that is considering that most Wii U Virtual Console games have already been released for Wii. Sigh.
@suzzopher - It certainly feels like we will never get Cave Story+ here, even though we have had numerous promises from Nicalis to say otherwise.
Shame but I've given up hope after waiting 9 months since the US release...
Well, you catched up with Balloon Fight Nintendo, NOW HOW ABOUT CATCHING UP WITH KIRBY DREAMLAND 3 AND MEGAMAN X? T.T
Mighty Switch Force 2, the Project X Zone demo (can't wait for the full game to arrive) and Game and Wario as a retail physical game. I believe my Wii U will need warming up for the workouts in the near future...
where is cave story + for 3DS
Vegas Stakes would of been a great game for the 3ds e shop
For those who are planning to buy Sonic II on the master system/game gear
Be foreworned, it's not easy and not the good kind.
Yeah everyone don't buy any more VC so they won't make money or consider giving us continued updates
No SNES PilotWings like they're getting in the USA this week
Fingers crossed we get it soon.
No Wii U download sale prices either. Sad face.
One more week for Project X Zone...
Just one more week to go...
Awww, I want an exciting 3D horse adventure.
I hope there's a demo of F1 racestars, reason being I would like to support Codemasters entry onto WiiU, the trouble is The Ps3 version was at best average.
Maybe Codies have not simply done a port, and optimised the game, and maybe as a result it feels a better game... without a demo I guess I'll be holding off for a while untill I can see what the overall opinion is via Miiverse.
Terrible Wii U VC offerings.
Definitely Crystal Warriors (GG) for me.
Will also update Balloon Fight, if thats an option.
Plenty of other stuff falls into the maybe category, will wait for reviews of those games that NL haven't got to yet.
Interested in Dillon's 2, but want to get a little further in first one, a stressful game but very satisfying when you make progress.
I wish the Wii U would get more love, the 3DS is always heavy with the Wii U gets some stuff.....but a lot of is crap.
freaking loved sonic 2 mastersystem think it might even be my fav sonic game! good memories
Mighty Switch Force 2 and Dillon's Rolling Western: The Last Ranger for me
@suzzopher It's published by Nicalis, so probably not. They seem to take forever to get games on the European E-Shop.
£8.99 for an iPhone port. Mother of God.
Dillon's Rolling Western 2 . I'll also be picking up Super Little Acorns on sale soon.
@suzzopher I'm really hoping it's ready and they're just waiting for the right time to launch it. We have had a lot of cool eShop releases lately (though many of which have been US catch-ups).
Any day now though! I hope we get Ikachan as well .
Wii u scores again!!!! Oh wait...
Cool! Mighty switch force 2 is only 5 Euro's! And I even may pick up Rolling western 2, though so far I haven't played much of the original!
The Last Ranger is out this week? Already?! But...but...I still haven't finished the first one yet! Animal Crossing...too...hypnotic... @,@
SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2!!!!!! I know I'm in America, but that means that (hopefully) it'll be coming this week! And I'm off of work on Thursday! AWESOME!!!!!
@Xilef I get the impression it is optimised 50hz (i.e still a waste of time if Kirby's Adventure is anything to go by where they made kirby faster but kept the enemies slow and kept all the bugs that are fixed on the 3ds 3d classic.) Everywhere I have seen says they still used the EU version but just made it faster. (Which can never work as the refresh rate of the gamepad is 60hz - even stuff like Super Metroid which ran pretty well at 50hz on wii now still has that issue).
@LDXD: The PC version is buggy as hell. Maybe Nintendo told them to actually fix it. (They may not even bother).
@Frapp
you mean balloon fight
I'll get Urban Trial Freestyle. Looks pretty good and it comes with a track editor, wooo! And maybe MSF2 at a later date. And no more Dillon for me, the first one was just plain boring repetitiveness, can't believe they gave it a sequel...
Not sure why people are getting excited about Balloon Fight being 60Hz - it isn't. It clearly says "This is an optimised release of the EU version to reflect the speed of the US title." - therefore NOT 60Hz.
Yeah that D&D game is a mess and would never pass the Ninty quality test... Just download better games off the Wii VC like the Golden Axe, Streets of Rage & Final Fight series
F1 Racestars has been delayed and won't be out this week after all
http://nintendoeverything.com/126708/f1-race-stars-powered-up-edition-not-releasing-on-european-eshop-this-week/
waiting for ur TRIAL review then go purchasing really interested in it!
@deKay: Unless they have just taken the PAL ROM and "un-converted" it back to 60Hz. Since Balloon Fight seems to have received zero optimisation in its original release, it should be identical to the US version now, just with European copyright info.
But I haven't checked it out myself yet.
@thomasbw84 Just been looking at E-shop, 3D MahJongg is £4.49, don't know if that's a introductory discount or the price shown above is wrong?
