Re: Nintendo Download: 6th October (Europe)

Mario Party Star Rush will almost certainly be bought after Christmas when we become a 4 3DS family

Still nothing on the My Nintendo Rewards though (that discount doesn't count). 7000 points and nothing to spend them on. Some will expire soon! It's almost a scam

It'll probably get overlooked due to everything else on offer, but I can really recommend Fairune.

Also, all the 3D Classics (except perhaps Hang On), but be aware there's a compilation card coming soon. So you might want to... clears throat Hang On drops mic falls off stage

Re: Hardware Review: PocketCHIP

@Damo It's slightly involved, but you have to install python, git and pip on it (easier than it sounds) then install this: https://github.com/PokemonGoMap/PokemonGo-Map
and the requirements for it.

Get yourself a new Pokemon Go account, find your Google API key for maps, and plug them into the code to run it. Once running on the PocketCHIP, use the surf browser on the device to point at localhost:5000 and you're away.

@SamirMalik the setting and the style is what brought me to it. Not the story. I had no idea what that was. But what has kept me playing has been the mechanics - which are vitally important in a JRPG. The story is great too, though, but that's not why I bought the game and it's not noticeably changed from the original to those of us who haven't read about the original. They're really minor cosmetic changes anyway.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo's Next Generation Handheld Is Codenamed "MH"

@Tsusasi I'm not sure what point you're making now. The 3DS was a new handheld, yes. But the 3DS/New 3DS/MH situation is exactly the DS/DSi/3DS situation.

The DSi was a hardware-improved DS with new features and virtually no games that use those features or better hardware. Two years after it came out, the 3DS was released.

The New 3DS is a hardware-improved 3DS with new features and virtually no games that use those features or better hardware. Two years after it came out, the MH is likely to be released (if indeed it is a thing and exists).

See?

The (Google) translated text, by the way, is:

As a long-term investment, and continued investment decisions "Overweight". Target price was cut yen 34000 yen → 32200. Due to a change in the number of exchange premise, now 17.3 period - 20.3 period expected the downward revision. Change the contents of the medium-term profit growth story. Towing auditors, conventional "health services, theme parks, mobile game" from the new business, such as, but was switched next-generation game machine "NX" and next-generation portable game machine to "MH (tentative name)", medium-term growth of scenario was that there is no change. The expected future, new and weaving of the revenue impact of the whole picture announcement of NX and MH, if dispel the realization of skepticism for the monetization of mobile games, there is a high possibility that stock prices are largely re-evaluation, assuming long-term investment, now has to think and entry timing.

Which also suggests the NX is aiming for a £200 launch price. So probably £300 over here.

@Fath "Hardware that can run it properly"? The New 3DS runs it just fine, in 3D with a higher enemy count and framerate than the Wii U version in two-player mode.

As I said, I own both so aside from not being able to co-op the new stuff, I'm not fussed it isn't available on the Wii U. I'm only 140-odd hours into the Wii U version so I've a good 75% of the game left to go yet - I'm not put out by some extra content not coming over.

I'm only 60 hours into the 3DS version so I'm not even ready for more content there either, actually...

The Swindle is a proper bargain at £1.99. It was £4.19 (reduced!) on PSN last week when I bought it, but would have preferred the Wii U version.

As always, I'll recommend Code of Princess (especially if you were a fan of Guardian Heroes) and all the Mighty Switch Force games. But of course, you should own all of them already

Thomas Was Alone at that price too.

@Captain_Gonru There's a difference between acronym and abbreviation (or initialism): an acronym is basically pronounceable as a word, but abbreviations are not necessarily so. Acronyms are a subset of abbreviations.
I say NES as "NEZ" rather than "NESS" simply because it's a single S. Not everyone here in the UK says NEZ, but it's certainly one of the most frequent pronunciations over here. Back in the 80s it was mainly just said as "Nintendo"
"SNEZ" is frequent, but I find it clumsy. "Super NEZ" sounds better.
Oh, and of course we all say "Megadrive" here
