Everyone is impacted differently by entertainment. I cannot claim to know anything about the statistics here, but can violent games negatively impact someone’s thoughts and actions? Absolutely. Of course, another person might experience no negative impact whatsoever. This is not a black and white issue.
I expected to see comments like “There’s that much music?!” and “The soundtrack isn’t that memorable.”, and I was right! I understand where people are coming from, but I personally disagree.
Breath of the Wild has one of my favorite soundtracks in the Zelda series. The ambient music works amazingly well, and there are actually more “traditional” tracks (which I also love) than in most (perhaps all) other Zeldas.
I enjoyed it significantly more than I enjoyed last year’s Directs (April, September), and this was a MINI!
The speaker for this Direct makes it sound like Nintendo is spreading its announcements out this year instead of delivering the major ones in big chunks (like last year), so I’m OK with the current level of info.
Breath of the Wild’s mechanics are a great base. I would like another “open-air” Zelda with a bit more story structure, A LOT more enemy/boss variety, and massive themed dungeons (not necessarily linear, though).
@Oat I personally don’t feel that the death penalty change will make the game any easier.
In recent Mario games, I often found myself with an insane amount of extra lives, never at risk of a Game Over. Because of this, losing lives meant almost nothing to me.
In Odyssey, however, losing ten coins means losing currency that you can spend in a Crazy Cap shop.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE I don't think it's fair to say that it's JUST a handheld (not that this is necessarily what you mean). I use my Switch in the TV and Tabletop modes quite often.
I enjoyed my first round, but not as much as I had expected. Everything improved from there, though (especially during the second weekend). I'm really excited for the game's launch!
If there's only one payment like in Super Mario Run, I hope Nintendo requires it to be made before the game is downloaded. I think the free demo version hurt sales of SMR.
@amiiboacid I don't think the DLC will make it possible to lose the Master Sword and force players to retrieve it. I'm guessing that this a leftover piece of a cut gameplay mechanic.
@Marshi But what about new modes? Splat Zones, Tower Control, and Rainmaker really shook the first game up. I think it's safe to say that there will be new ways to play this time around.
Even if a linear adventure wouldn't necessarily be worse than BotW, it would still feel like a step back of sorts.
BotW's Hyrule is totally seamless, and you can go anywhere you want as long it makes logical sense. The only way to make a future 3D Zelda game linear would be to eliminate that.
Less than 4 days! I'm really excited for this game, but I think I would be even more hyped if I could unsee some spoilers. (I haven't watched the leaked cutscenes, but I know things I don't want to know yet.)
@Bunkerneath It is a portable system, but the games, same-system local multiplayer, and control options make it feel like a home console-quality experience.
@Sakura Actually, the GameXplain guys have decided not to analyze anything since the Switch Presentation's trailer. They don't want to spoil the game for themselves or other people.
As soon as I had seen the E3 trailer and read the description on Nintendo's YouTube upload of it, I felt 100% sure this game would take place after Ocarina of Time. I don't see how anyone else thought otherwise, but I guess people interpreted some story details differently.
@Pokefanmum82 Breath of the Wild will cost the same across its two platforms, so I recommend cancelling the Wii U preorder and preordering the game for Switch. That version will be better in every way.

Re: Poll: So, What's Your Favourite Course In Mario Kart World?
@Ogbert You can play courses the traditional way in VS Mode and Time Trials.

Re: Talking Point: What Games Are You Playing This Weekend
Breath of the Wild. I got it on DAY 1, but my favorite game of all time keeps on giving over a year later!
Re: Take Centre Court And Trick Shot Your Way To Glory In Mario Tennis Aces This June
@1UP_MARIO The evidence is pointing toward Smash being SMA5H instead of a SM4SH port.
Re: Super Smash Bros. For Switch Is Coming This Year, And It's Got Inklings
SEEMS LIKE SMASH 5 TO ME! THE OLD SITE IS GONE, AND WE CAN SEE BOTW LINK!

Re: Nintendo of Russia Appears to Confirm Incoming Nintendo Direct
I’m hoping for a 2-hour-long “Nintendo Direct MEGA”, but I know that has a 0.001% chance of occurring.
Regardless, I’m definitely looking forward to the presentation!
Re: The Latest Zelda: Breath of the Wild Free Gift is a Bit Mean to Kass
@Ryu_Niiyama That’s definitely true.
Re: Here’s Why Traditional Dungeons Got Axed in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
“At least there wasn't a water temple...”
I like the the Water Temple in OoT 3D (but do find it annoying on N64).
Re: The Latest Zelda: Breath of the Wild Free Gift is a Bit Mean to Kass
@Ryu_Niiyama Of course. I’m just being serious about it as a joke.
Re: The Latest Zelda: Breath of the Wild Free Gift is a Bit Mean to Kass
@Ryu_Niiyama “Bird” is only as specific as “mammal.” I don’t think eating a hamburger makes a human a cannibal.
Re: Poll: Surprise! A New Zelda Is In Development, But What Do You Want From It?
Breath of the Wild’s mechanics are a great base. I would like another “open-air” Zelda with a bit more story structure, A LOT more enemy/boss variety, and massive themed dungeons (not necessarily linear, though).
Re: Zelda: Breath of the Wild Won Ultimate Game of the Year at the Golden Joystick Awards
@westman98 Odyssey had only been out for a week, though. We’ll see what happens once The Game Awards roll around.
Re: Yoshiaki Koizumi Says Non-Traditional Nintendo IPs Are Bound For Switch Next Year
It doesn’t feel like Koizumi’s talking about revivals. I expect new IPs.

Re: Hands On: Super Mario Odyssey Looks Set To Continue Switch’s Year of Hits
@SLIGEACH_EIRE I'm sure Nintendo has plenty of secrets. They've been announcing a lot of stuff close to release lately.
Re: The Plug Will Finally Be Pulled On Miiverse In November
@AlexSora89 It's been confirmed that posts will no longer appear, but the stage will be playable.
Re: Translation of Zelda: Breath of the Wild's Japanese Ending Prompts Interesting Debate
@King_Johobo He can always come back, but maybe not in games that take place after BotW. It'll be interesting to see what happens.
Re: Online Co-Op in Splatoon 2's Salmon Run Will Be Limited to Specific Times
Kinda adds to the immersion, I guess. The world of Splatoon has always felt somewhat alive.
I'm against this decision, though.
Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Nintendo at E3 2017?
@JHDK I feel the same, but I can easily see myself enjoying Odyssey even more than BotW when it releases.
Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Nintendo's Big Switch and 3DS Reveals at E3 on Day One?
Metroid and Mario were INSANE. Best E3 ever for Nintendo.
Re: Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle Unveiled by Ubisoft at E3 2017
It actually looks fun.
Re: Talking Point: EA and Bethesda Highlight Nintendo Switch as a Portable Powerhouse at E3
@SLIGEACH_EIRE I don't think it's fair to say that it's JUST a handheld (not that this is necessarily what you mean). I use my Switch in the TV and Tabletop modes quite often.
Re: Press Release Suggests E3 Nintendo Spotlight Will be About 30 Minutes
@SLIGEACH_EIRE That Digital Event did have filler, but it also had a lot of big stuff. Best Nintendo E3 in recent memory.
Re: Poll: Did the ARMS Global Testpunch Land a Knockout Blow?
I enjoyed my first round, but not as much as I had expected. Everything improved from there, though (especially during the second weekend). I'm really excited for the game's launch!

Re: Gallery: It's All About The Little Details With This Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Cosplay
Amazing job!
Re: Video: This Has To Rank As The Most Epic Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Glitch Yet
@amiiboacid I don't think the DLC will make it possible to lose the Master Sword and force players to retrieve it. I'm guessing that this a leftover piece of a cut gameplay mechanic.
Re: Surprise, Nintendo Isn't Hosting An E3 Press Conference This Year
@SLIGEACH_EIRE I disagree. There was no press conference in 2014, but that was a great E3 for Nintendo.
Re: Poll: What Did You Think of the Splatoon 2 Global Testfire on Nintendo Switch?
@Marshi But what about new modes? Splat Zones, Tower Control, and Rainmaker really shook the first game up. I think it's safe to say that there will be new ways to play this time around.

Re: Poll: One Week On - How Do You Feel About the Nintendo Switch?
I'm 100% satisfied so far. The UI is VERY fast, I've gotten good use out of all 3 modes, and Breath of the Wild is my favorite game of all time!
Re: Feature: Some of Our Favourite Legend of Zelda Games
@KirbyTheVampire Did you play the N64 version or the 3DS remake? OoT 3D was the game that made me a huge Zelda fan in 2013.

Re: Poll: Nintendo Switch Countdown - Less Than a Week to Go, Is the Hype Building?
I'm still very much looking forward to the Switch itself, but my HYPE is all specifically for Zelda at this point. 5 days!!!
Re: Preview: Immersing Ourselves in the World of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
@Kit The Wii U version won't have any advantages. The GamePad was originally going to function as a second screen, but that's no longer the case.
Re: Gallery: Let's Compare The Nintendo Switch To Other Handhelds
@Bunkerneath It is a portable system, but the games, same-system local multiplayer, and control options make it feel like a home console-quality experience.
