Super Mario Odyssey is three weeks away, which is one of the most pleasing sentences we'll write today. Plenty of Nintendo gamers are no doubt curious to see how its undoubtedly impressive variety of gameplay ideas merge into a full, cohesive game. Is Mario ready for a sandbox adventure?
We'll see soon, but Nintendo of Europe has released a neat overview trailer to showcase what it's all about. It's about 90% recycled footage from previous videos, but has a few little snippets of new scenes and gives a handy overview of the game's main hooks and features.

Are you excited about Super Mario Odyssey's release at the end of the month?

Super Mario Odyssey is shaping up to be a really cap-tivating game!
Too many spoilers lately especially during the last Direct. I'll avoid this trailer thank you very much.
I thought there is no life counter? What is that in assist mode when he falls off stage then...
I keep saying 'no more trailers'.... and then proceed to watch every trailer.
Looks amazing. I'm bowler-ed over. Can't wait to get stuck into this
@Snow-Dust health counter. Loose all health and you drop 10 coins.
Getting close enough to release day that I am now going into the spoiler free cave. Went into BotW blind and I want to do the same here.
Wow, no complaints about assist mode yet. (I like the possibility for the people that want to use it)
Can't wait.
Need now.
Can't wait
This trailer is everything. Never have I been so gutted about going on holiday - I'll miss the launch weekend of SMO
Game looks absolutely amazing. Potential to be one of the best ever?
Wow, 2-player mode, neat.
excited
Would you all please stop with the hat puns or I'll have to pop a 'cap' in yo ass!
I'm avoiding this just like the last few trailers. I want to experience this game with fresh eyes of amazement
This trailer was awesome! I do think the assist mode is a bit overkill (especially since you can have 2 player co-op as well as the removal of lives)
@SanderEvers Ha! People have said that to me (and I guess that is the point of the Switch), but I'm refraining from letting gaming isolate myself on a rare chance to leave the country for a break with my friends
Besides, I'm wanting to stream my entire play-through on Twitch - well that's the plan anyway. I guess it's just an unfortunate catch-22!
I firmly believe this will be the best Mario game ever! Looks amazing and even the small mini games are looking really funny and with leaderboards. I’m in love. Totally Cap-tivating!
Already been spoiled enough. I'll just wait for the game to release in a few weeks.
Already seen enough to know it'll be fant-hat-stic, so I'm going to have to beret my head in the sand and avoid this trailer also.
This trailer settles it, sorry Breath of the Wild Mario Odyssey is Game of the Year.
On the topic of no longer having a "lives" system, it's kind of ironic that Pauline says "I'll be your 1-UP girl" in the theme song for this game, since those presumably do not exist in the world of Super Mario Odyssey.
I'm not watching the trailer! I officially pre-ordered the game from Amazon a couple of days ago so I don't want to see anything else until I play it.
But awesome for everyone who does!
Tempted but I won't watch. Im already sold on the game and want to keep as much of it as surprise as possible.
It’s getting closer....
@Oat I personally don’t feel that the death penalty change will make the game any easier.
In recent Mario games, I often found myself with an insane amount of extra lives, never at risk of a Game Over. Because of this, losing lives meant almost nothing to me.
In Odyssey, however, losing ten coins means losing currency that you can spend in a Crazy Cap shop.
I've noticed a few articles recently alluding to words that are normally deemed too offensive to be allowed in the comments section, such words being published in the form of censored versions, ie sh..., now c(r)appy, mainly right on the article headline. Hypocritical much?
Any chance you could inform your moderators to abide by the same standards when it comes to users? The level of censorship is often ludicrous.
Seems only fair that both readers and writers are on an equal footing in terms of self expression.
Don’t have any free time to play it, but this game makes me want to buy a switch just so I know I COULD play it one day.
