Twitter: bboy2970 I used to know how to play Poker when my grandpa taught me. I haven't played it in many years so I forgot. I've been wanting to get a good Poker download on DS or Wii but just haven't gotten around to it with all the other 3DS things coming out lately. Since this one is "One of the better poker games available on DSiWare" it seems like a great opportunity to finally re-learn Poker! Hope I'm picked
@Alpha: Yep, it does. All five generations Although I'm not sue if special legendaries such as Arceus will be in. I hope they are but even if they're not, that's still 600+ Pokemon
Even at 40 dollars I'll buy this. I sunk over 60 hours into the Wiiware game completing it 100 percent. Since this one has more modes, its portable, and has more than double the Pokemon of the Wiiware game, I know I'll get my money's worth out of it! Hope it doesn't take too long for a western release...
I don't feel like its to similar to the DS at all. At least in some applications. Sure the DS may have to screens but those 2 screens are always in the same place and cannot be moved. With Wii U the second controller can be used as a sort of window into the gaming world. The TV displays what it would normally display in a game but then this controller in your hand allows you to look around the rest of the game world unseen by the television. Only used in applications such as map screens does make Wii U look redundant but if developers are hopefully more creative than that, Wii U could be a real game changer. I say Nintendo is rasing the bar. I have faith that Nintendo can and will do great with the Wii U (despite that name...)
@X-145: No you're not. I agree with that statement but get ready for the mob of PS lovers to come bearing their torches and pitchforks...
I'm not worried. Nintendo gets sued quite a bit and they are fine. Their legal team is quite strong. I've never even heard of this company. It seems a little harsh that want 3DS to stop production completely. Usually companies that sue Nintendo over stuff like this just want royalties. I'm sure Nintendo will come out of it just fine.
Thanks for this site! The eShop should really already do this but whatever. Vector Tank looks really great! The 3D seems to be outstanding. I'll surely buy this one when it drops on the eShpp.
Well I've always thought these were just a tad overrated but I'll be getting this. It kind of sucks that they are releasing this one and the Wii one with all the extras. I'm certainly not buying both so it kind of sucks to miss out on something one way or another. I wish they had just taken those extra features of the Wii disc game and out them in here. Oh well. I'd rather have 3D and portability anyway.
EDIT: Oh god....I just looked this up on amazon and it says it will be regular priced at 40 bucks. I kind of expected it to be like....30. Oh well, looks like it won't be a day one buy for me. I'll have to wait until it comes down in price.
@sjyotek: Ah, jokes don't translate well sometimes on the internet @Sherlock: I know right!? I'm gonna take a guess that we will see the first release of 3DS specific games the same week that Excitebike switches to a piece of pay software. IDK why, I just feel like that will be the start for some reason.
@skyotek: Apparently it was changed to white because Nintendo felt like a pink puffball character might not do to well at that time. Mr. Sakurai was not pleased.
I really hope we can get Kirby this Thursday as well! Nintendo needs to keep putting out top tier Gameboy games as long as they continue to not put out 3DS specific software.
@irken: You don't. Upon starting a new copy, a save file will be created. No deleting, no starting another one. Elite Beat Agents is the exact same way. Kind of irritating when I bought it used...
@Token_Girl: I'm right there with you on NPC Pikmin 2! I'll never ever forgive Nintendo for not releasing that one in the US! As for this fan riot for these 3 games, good for them! It seems to really be building steam and I hope Nintendo will be made to see the light. Perhaps this could be the beginning of an era where fans vehemently demand Nintendo games and they actually listen!
@stuffgamer: Oh, sorry. I don't think I ever came back to the comments section of last week's update article so I must have not seen your post. I was likely too busy playing Donkey Kong This week it looks like I have nothing better to do than sit here at Nintendo Life commenting
@niner: Don't get me wrong. I would LOVE for them to just release every single game all at once. The thing is though, they won't. I heard years ago (can't remember where) that Nintendo said the reason they won't do that is because that would make some titles go majorly overlooked. By releasing them in a trickle, they give each game, bad or good, time to shine. Although I do agree with stuffgamer (snooty as he may have come off) that there should be more than one game per week and they should work with 3rd parties better. I think 2-3 games a week would be a fair compromise throwing in a true gem every couple weeks.
@BelmontHeir: If Nintendo did it in a way that you describe, the 3DS VC would flounder in 2-3 years and then everyone would be complaining about the lack of releases and jumping down Nintendo's throat like they do now with the Wii VC. Nintendo simply cannot win.
@niner: Exactly! Obviously though we can't expect that everysingle game from each system will make it on there. So even if we took a tenth of all the games from those 3 platforms, at the current rate, the 3DS VC would go for about 214 more weeks or a little more than 4 years. Plus we know the GameGear and TurboGrafx are coming so that's even more titles to add to the pool. Plus there may be other systems added in the future. I think the 3DS VC will be just fine. A complete handheld generations lasts WAY longer than a console generation so Nintendo knows it needs to pace itself with releases.
@Rapadash6: I don't think we should expect the 3DS VC to fizzle out like the Wii VC. Nintendo learned from the Wii. Sure it was great the first couple years having 2, 3, or even 4 games released in a week but that ultimately leads to drought. The release schedule for 3DS VC may be slow but I don't think that's a sign that it will fizzle even sooner than Wii. I think its a sign that they're going to be much more liberal with how many games are released each week. Yeah that kind of sucks but it will likely ensure that the 3DS VC has content regularly flowing for many years to come!
Well that's all fine and good but when exactly will we be seeing some of these 3DS specific downloads?? All its been is VC games. The only 3DS specific things are Pokedex 3D and 3D Excitebike. The last one doesn;t even really count. C'mon Nintendo! Oh and on a side note, please Bplus, have a heart, don't unleash Niki Rock'n'Ball on 3DS. The Wiiware game was just...well not so good...
I wonder why there is such a lack of 3DS specific software... Pokedex 3D is the only one right now. Why are they holding back? Surely they have SOMETHING they could put out. Hope US update is better...
@Zach: Yeah, it doesn't get in the way too often but when it does its extremely annoying. Plus it makes the game less "find the differences" and more "find the probable inconsistencies." I wish it had been 2 dollars. If it were, I would have felt much better about my purchase. Oh well...
I actually got this a couple of days ago for god knows what reason. I actually liked it but it has one horribly glaring flaw that simply ruins it for me. When you're trying to search for differences, they don't show you the original, unchanged picture. That's just stupid!! At least when you take your own picture you are there to look at it but even when you use one of their preloaded pictures you still don't get shown the original picture during the game. How am I supposed to just magically know what something is supposed to looks like?? If they just had that one tiny thing included in the game then I would have really liked it. I just don't understand it.
@wanderlustwarrior: Fair enough. But my point still stands that the consensus around here would obviously be more in Nintendo's favor and it would be foolish to think otherwise.
@MickeyMac: I honestly don't know! Your comment has kind of a negative vibe to it so I'll go with it being against me but the the way it is worded I literally cannot ascertain what it is your trying to say...
@Acerocks: 1) True 2) Well...duh. It is called NINTENDO life after all. Surely you had to know the general consensus of the users here would be: Nintendo=good, Sony=bad. I admit Sony has a couple innovations, the back touch pad being the most significant in my mind but they DO rip off A LOT of Nintendo's stuff and comments like this from Jack just make them look so bad when we've all been through this song and dance TWICE!
@MickeyMac: I don't really understand what your saying....is that comment for or against me? Please clarify...
@Acerocks: Oh....you're not a Sony fanboy? Well it was an honest mistake after reading you comments in this article. I apologize, I must have misunderstood. But please answer me this: Why is someone so seemingly opposed to Nintendo a user on a site called: Nintendo Life? You know, Movemodo and Kinectaku are right across the street. Perhaps you should try there?...
@Acerocks: I spy a smiley at the end of that comment! See? That wasn't so hard! I'm glad I could help you become a bit happier today. No thanks are needed, just knowing that I helped is enough Now if only we could do something about that Sony fanboy problem....
@Acerocks: Ah! Clever. I see what you did there Well let me assure you, if Nintendolife ever writes up an article about Reggie spewing utter nonsense and mud-slinging at Sony, I will be sure to comment on that thread so that you can come in and shoot that comment right back in my face. And when you quoted my comment you forgot the "" at the end. The open-mouth smiley is a very important part of that comment and you probably should have included it. In fact....you don't seem to have any smileys in any of your comments....what's wrong? Not in a very smiley mood? here, do it with me:
@Acerocks: I feel like we have reached a misunderstanding of sorts...You see, its not a score its just that you're here trying to defend this turd named Jack Tretton so I feel that puts you on the losing side of this argument. But that's just my opinion so I guess just keep going with your bad self!
@Acerocks: Ah, I see. Well, egg on your face I suppose. It does tend to be very difficult to win an argument when you are in fact on the losing side of said argument. Oh, and also, your last comment had an error in it. You see, I am actually 18 so you must have missed the "1" key as you typed. Its ok bud, fair mistake
EDIT: awe man.....you changed your comment. That isn't fair! Now I have this whole great response up there and now people will be confused as to what exactly I'm responding to. Well for anyone following along, Acerocks original comment was something like: "My joke was thinking I could win an argument against an 8 year old (you)." That was what I was responding to above. Now that he's gone and changed it my response is now this:
But....you said "stupid jokes from stupid people" so I had obviously assumed that you were referring to yourself. My mistake. Sorry bud
@Acerocks: I think someone is being just a bit too serious. Obviously jtr235 was joking with that statement about that fact that Sony takes nearly all of Nintendo's ideas and makes them their own even after running their mouth about how stupid the ideas are in the first place. And the comment about MW45 was just a jab at how they are just constantly churning out COD after COD after COD and 45 was obviously just used as a humorously high number of where we will be in that franchise by 2030. Get it? Jokes! funny.
@Acerocks: Alas, its true, I am not psychic and cannot predict the future. I can however look back in history and make an educated guess at what the future will hold.
Oh Jack.....words simply can't quite describe how short sighted and ignorant you really are.
2005: Touch screen on a handheld!? How ridiculous! And look at those graphics! PSP is gonna wipe the floor with DS!, 2011: Introducing the PS Vita...Its got a touch screen!! We're so innovative!
2006-ish: Wii? That's not a REAL game system. Motion controls are for little kids! Sony owns the living room and Nintendo owns the closet! Oh and those graphics, what a laugh!, 2010: Intoducing Playstation Move! Look! Its got super innovative motion controls plus a goofy ball on top! We are truly market leaders!
2011: Wii U? That thing is no threat! Welcome to 2006 Nintendo!, 20??: Introducing our new controller! Its got a big touch screen on it! Look how new and amazingly innovative this thing is! Oh yeah, and here's the PS Vita 2! Its got.....a 3D screen...,WITHOUT GLASSES!! And just look at those shiny graphix!!! Take THAT Nintendo you un-innovative children!
Tsk tsk Sony. When will you learn. Oh, and those last couple lines in the article were great! They really say it all
It would be so awesome if the whole VB collection came to the eShop! I have never been able to play Wario Land so that would be a no-brainer. Plus, I really really like Panic Bomber and would also buy Mario Tennis. And maybe even one of the two VB Tetris's if I'm feeling particularly loose with my money Make it happen Nintendo!
Oh great, All those folks getting a copy early. Its like Nintendo is TRYING to make it so that it will be impossible for an average Joe to get the game on Sunday and get the soundtrack. I hope its not too limited because I REALLY want one!
A very well deserved score! I started playing this sucker for the first time yesterday and I really love it. Its amazing how tightly the game controls and how well it handles. Usually handheld games from this era frustrate me with controls and physics that feel very alien by today's standards. This game however really nailed it! I would have never expected such a complicated move set from a Gameboy game! Oh and yeah, the music is pretty much a masterpiece. Some of the best I've heard on the Gameboy.
@BalrogtheMaster: Yeah, what drdark said. This game is essentially the first game in the Mario VS Donkey Kong franchise. It just doesn't have it in the title. The GBA game plays almost exactly the same and is well worth checking out!
Well I was holding out for a possible surprise in the form of a 3DSWare game but now that the official article is up on the Nintendo press site, I guess this is what we're getting. Not a bad week at all with Donkey Kong but Japan already has so much more on their eShop. I feel like the same crap is already happening where Japan has tons of releases while we....don't.
Donkey Kong 94? Joy! I've never played it before but really really want to. This is the perfect opportunity! Call me greedy, but I sort of also would like Kirby's Dream Land today too....but I would live if it didn't come out today. It just feels like they need to make this update really souped up since its been the longest hiatus until an update EVER. Also, crossing my fingers for some 3DS specific software. Oh and I really hope the update goes down at the normal time it did on Mondays at least.
Doesn't matter to me if it ever comes out. I probably won't be buying it. I dropped 15 bucks on Episode 1 and didn't like it that much. If each episode was 5 bucks then sure, I'd buy them all. But putting out a game in episodes and then making each segment cost a premium price is kind of ridiculous. I would bet that Episode 2 doesn't sell nearly as well as the first. I'm sure I'm not the only one who felt a bit burned the first time out.
Wow! Two 10/10 3DS reviews in a row! I picked this one up just because everyone was saying how great it was. Normally I am quite opposed to 2D Zeldas but I took a leap of faith...and boy am I glad I did! I'm only about 4 hours in but this game is really fantastic! So worth the 6 dollar premium!
This looks great. I like the ability to jump between layers. I'll be buying this on the eShop so long as it isn't priced outrageously. Oh and that Rolling Western game from Nintendo looks absolutely fantastic! This is the first I have seen of it but I'm already definitely sold on it. I can't wait until the first regular eShop update

They really say it all
Re: Miyamoto: Virtual Boy Games on 3DS Could Happen
It would be so awesome if the whole VB collection came to the eShop! I have never been able to play Wario Land so that would be a no-brainer. Plus, I really really like Panic Bomber and would also buy Mario Tennis. And maybe even one of the two VB Tetris's if I'm feeling particularly loose with my money Make it happen Nintendo!
Re: Reggie Demos Kid Icarus AR, Skyward Sword and More on TV
Oh great, All those folks getting a copy early. Its like Nintendo is TRYING to make it so that it will be impossible for an average Joe to get the game on Sunday and get the soundtrack. I hope its not too limited because I REALLY want one!
Re: Review: Donkey Kong (Game Boy)
A very well deserved score! I started playing this sucker for the first time yesterday and I really love it. Its amazing how tightly the game controls and how well it handles. Usually handheld games from this era frustrate me with controls and physics that feel very alien by today's standards. This game however really nailed it! I would have never expected such a complicated move set from a Gameboy game! Oh and yeah, the music is pretty much a masterpiece. Some of the best I've heard on the Gameboy.
Re: Review: Donkey Kong (Game Boy)
@BalrogtheMaster: Yeah, what drdark said. This game is essentially the first game in the Mario VS Donkey Kong franchise. It just doesn't have it in the title. The GBA game plays almost exactly the same and is well worth checking out!
Re: Nintendo Download: 16th June 2011 (North America)
Well I was holding out for a possible surprise in the form of a 3DSWare game but now that the official article is up on the Nintendo press site, I guess this is what we're getting. Not a bad week at all with Donkey Kong but Japan already has so much more on their eShop. I feel like the same crap is already happening where Japan has tons of releases while we....don't.
Re: Nintendo Download: 16th June 2011 (North America)
Donkey Kong 94? Joy! I've never played it before but really really want to. This is the perfect opportunity! Call me greedy, but I sort of also would like Kirby's Dream Land today too....but I would live if it didn't come out today. It just feels like they need to make this update really souped up since its been the longest hiatus until an update EVER. Also, crossing my fingers for some 3DS specific software. Oh and I really hope the update goes down at the normal time it did on Mondays at least.
Re: Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2 Due "In the Near Future"
Doesn't matter to me if it ever comes out. I probably won't be buying it. I dropped 15 bucks on Episode 1 and didn't like it that much. If each episode was 5 bucks then sure, I'd buy them all. But putting out a game in episodes and then making each segment cost a premium price is kind of ridiculous. I would bet that Episode 2 doesn't sell nearly as well as the first. I'm sure I'm not the only one who felt a bit burned the first time out.
Re: Review: The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX (Game Boy Color)
Re: First Impressions: Spirit Hunters Inc. Light/Shadow (DSiWare)
I've been waiting quite a while for this game as it looks fantastic! Any word on a release date yet? I really want to buy this!
Re: First Impressions: Mario Kart (3DS)
Yet another 3DS game on my list. I hope I can get a job soon or else I'll be in trouble!
Re: First Impressions: Mutant Mudds (3DSWare)
This looks great. I like the ability to jump between layers. I'll be buying this on the eShop so long as it isn't priced outrageously. Oh and that Rolling Western game from Nintendo looks absolutely fantastic! This is the first I have seen of it but I'm already definitely sold on it. I can't wait until the first regular eShop update
