@JaxxRaxor: This is so not the first time. There have been at least a couple instances in the past couple years of Americans getting screwed. I can only name one specifically though and that is New Play Control! Pikmin 2. Nintendo will never be forgiven for that one... Oh, I just thought of another! Last Window. That DS sequel to Hotel Dusk. I'm farily certain those games are published by Nintendo so why the US did not receive it is far beyond me.
Awesome review. Please Europeans, buy this game! The better that sales are, the better chance it has of coming to America. I really want to play this but I'm not about to import the game and another regions Wii just to play it. Come on Nintendo! The localization is done! Just bring the damn thing over!!!
This looks really really great! I wasn't too excited when I first heard about it but my excitement has definitely been building since then. It looks really creative and challenging! Plus it reminds me of Pikmin which is a VERY good thing Between this and Professor Layton it looks like the DS isn't quite dead yet!
Sounds excellent! I can't wait for this to hit the eShop! Definite purchase from me. Let's try to keep the price reasonable though. On the issue of file limit, I don't know the limit exactly but I know that Let's Golf 3D is about 1500 blocks. Assuming the blocks in use are the same size as what DSiWare takes up, that would make Let's Golf about 11.5 times larger than a maximum sized DSiWare game. DSiWare games can be a max of 20MB so that would make 3DS downloads about 230MB at the very least. So yeah, developers have a considerable amount of space to work with here.
I wouldn't be interested if it was some stupid virtual soundtrack. If something has a virtual bonus it might as well have no bonus at all. I wasn't even planning to get this right on launch but since it is a physical item that stands a good chance of becoming collectible, I'll just have to scrape the moneys together
Yay for Picross! Boo for now 3DSWare! I'm glad we ended up getting this. I was half certain we wouldn't since we didn't get it on Wii VC. Seriously though, Nintendo needs to start churning out the 3DSWare. Mutant Mudds and rolling western would be a great start!
2D will be around as long as folks continue to buy them in droves. People will always buy 2D Mario games in droves and Nintendo will keep making them. So no, 2D games won't be fading any time soon. If Nintendo ever went out of business (yeah right) then maybe. As long as there is Nintendo, there will be 2D games.
Meh....I'm sure its an ok game and all but where are the real "classics!" Excitebike is really the only one right now and that's pushing it. Seriously, where are the NINTENDO classics. Konami, Namco, etc. are all fine and good but I though we would be seeing more Nintendo classic games. I hope the last 3D Classic games really impress...
@Oregano: See, I'm just the opposite. I'll be a lot quicker to forgive a framerate hiccup here or there than I will be to forgive lack of content or having wonky controls. And just to clarigy, the framrate here isn't that bad. The only truly choppy times are the 1 second before a load screen and 1 second after a load screen. Other than that, the occasional hiccup is literally all it is. Personally I'd be a lot more upset over the load times than framrate but whatever.
@Kainard: Get it!! Even if you had an iDevice I wouls still say to get this one. I don't buy Apple products so I've never played that version but from what I understand, it is 2 dollars cheaper and offers online instead of same system 2 player. With the 3DS game you pay 2 dollars more but get button control (I've played with touch on 3DS and it doesn't come close to buttons), same system multiplayer (preferable to online for me. I never would play online on a golf game personally), and 3D graphics which are nice to have but don't truly add anything. Just having buttons would be enough for me to spring for this version but you don't have an iDevice anyway so back to my original point....buy this!
@Hyperstar96: I am. Its not often that a Gameloft game shines like this and it makes me irritated that it was scored like this. Gameloft deserves better for FINALLY making something worthwhile. A lot of other stuff they put out (not everything but a lot of it) is cringe-worthy. So yep, I'm defending this poor little game to the end
@Oregano: I would say the issues here would be something that shouldn't be forgiven....if this was a 40 dollar retail game. For 7 bucks and having it always on the system, I can forgive a few weird technical issues. Even to someone being very critical of it I could only see them giving a seven. I just don't really understand a six...
@Mickymac: I'd love to tell you that it does but not really. TBH the 3D is used very subtly here. Probably because its just a port and wasn't made with the 3DS in mind. Basically what you're getting here is a golf game with simple, classic but very effective, fun controls and gameplay with 3D that's just nice to have but not a necessity. The career is very very meaty and the inclusion of achievements and challenges is very appreciated. I've sunk roughly 8 hours into it so far and only have like 25% of career and achievements and 50% of the challenges done. Also, the multiplayer is fine. I've played multiple games with my step sister and its quite well done. It would have been nice to have multiplayer but honestly, given the attach rate of 3DS and the amount of people I know who have one, I actually prefer single system 2 player if we can only have one. For 7 dollars you could do so much worse. I bought 5 3DS launch titles and like this game a lot more than 3 of them. It really is a great game and IMO one of the better ones you can purchase on 3DS right now. The only issue is a slightly choppy frame rate and longer load times than I might have liked. All in all though, a really great, fun game.
@Mickeymac: You really may want to reconsider. I have no idea what their problem is with the putting. You can look at the green from an over-head perspective with a grid overlayed on it. Just like most golf games the grid has little dashes moving along the grid lines at various speeds to represent the terrain. True, its a bit difficult to gauge the terrain with the naked eye but you don't have to. Rarely do I miss a putt and think the game is at fault for it. Oh, and when you start a putt, they show you exactly how your ball will go if you hit it right there. Its easy to gauge it from there.
What? A 6? Really? I was sort of expecting a 9....maybe an 8 at the lowest. And TBH, the review reads a lot more like a 7. The DSiWare game also got a 6. I'm afraid I don't follow the logic....the DSiWare game is much worse graphically, has less than half the content seen here, and costs a dollar more.....but they're still the same score? I usually agree with Nintendo Life but this time I disagree very strongly.
If it comes anywhere within 2 hours of me I'm definitely shelling out for one of those VIP tickets. The ticket along with any goodies that come along with it would be fantastic additions to my collection!
If Pac-Man hits our shores this week as well I won't be buying since I'm getting Pac-Man and Galaga Dimensions this weekend. Also, why can NA not know what we're getting until the day of? It seems like Europe always gets a heads up press release on Monday. Oh and its a bit worrisome to not see a 3DSWare this week. I was hoping for a steady stream once it started...
@JJOR64: Well I have never had any experience with Let's Golf 2 but from what I've read, that does seem to be the case. Its essentially the IOS version of Let's Golf 2 + button controls + 3D - online play + local same-system 2 player. Also I believe this game is 2 dollars more than the IOS game. I think the pluses and the minuses of each weigh each other out nicely. Definitely a worthy game IMO and a great start to 3DS Downloads!
@sam: Nope but don't let that deter you. This is a really fleshed out great package with very long legs. I've been playing it for over 3 hours and have 25% of the challenges done, 15% of achievements gotten, and just 10% of career done. The gameplay is fairly smooth and the game is quite fun. Plus for your multiplayer fix there is a 2 player mode on the same system, you just pass it back and forth. No online is a shame but the game is still worth every bit of 7 bucks.
How odd that its available right now there. It isn't yet in the NA shop Thanks for the early opinion of the game. I think I'll get it come noon Oh, one more question, is there some type of career or goal or something that give the game legs or is it just kind of "here are these courses, have fun!"
Wait....the eShop update already happened in Europe?? Lucky! So is the game like...pretty good? As long as there isn't anything glaringly wrong with it I'll get it. Also, do the in game graphics look like they're bumped up from the IOS version or about the same?
@Oregano: Well that's a bit disappointing... Not too big of a deal to me personally though since online golf games are usually too long for me. Still would have been nice to have the option though.
@Oregano: What!? The 3DS release doesn't have online?? It was my understanding that it did! Where did you hear this from? @MrDanger: I say, relax, the good games will come out in good time. Be happy they aren't drying up all the huge games right out of the gate so they can stretch the 3DS VC out better than the Wii one.
@Oregano: That's a lot! Hopefully its also a sign of things to come for 3DS downloads. Certainly puts the DSiWare download cap to shame. I believe the biggest DSiWare game I've ever seen was like 130 blocks. I also hope online play becomes more of a standard thing for downloads. I've got just as many problems with Gameloft as the next guy but I'm happy with where they are starting 3DS downloads at.
I'm not bothered by the lack of 3DS VC. Nintendo is just purposefully taking some hiatus' early in the game this time so people don't run for their torches and pitchforks in a couple years like with the Wii VC. Now as for today's download, I'm happy there is finally a proper 3DSWare download but I'm still on the fence for buying it....at 5 dollars I'd do it but at 7....this'll take some thought.
Well this isn't exactly a good thing but I don't think it is as big of a deal as the RE thing. This is an arcade game so its not that bad that the save file can't be erased. That said, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to not even give the option to delete save data. I'm getting this game new so it doesn't matter to me but I really hope this doesn't become a trend because for other genres, like every one that isn't arcade, this could be a huge problem...
Aww...they extended the rubber grips? I wonder if I can call and send in my system so they can swap mine out for the new ones. Having the touch screen frame and Circle Pad print up the top screen is quite bothersome.
Overall I don't think of WiiWare as a disappointment. Sure it had huge problems outlined nicely in this article but I've gotten some really great gems on the service. Bit Trip, Art Style, Lost Winds, World of Goo, Fluidity, Dr. Mario Online Rx, Art of Balance, FAST Racing League, Pokemon Rumble, and Rage of the Gladiator to name a few. I truly believe that great content is there, its just severely hurt by the poor presentation of the shop and lack of advertising or exposure.
@ZachKaplan: Yeah, I see where you're coming from. That's why I paced myself by only seeking 3-4 new species every time I pick it up. I have about 7 more to collect. After they are gotten I'll probebly scarcely return. That's ok though. The activity log says I've already got 6 hours in it so I got my money's worth
That's a little disapointing that this only got a 5. I really enjoyed (and still am enjoying) this game. I admit that it is a little one dimensional but beyond that its a great concept and pretty fun. I would give it a high 7...maybe a low 8.
Why is Nintendo Video just "Coming Soon"? I was told here that it would be available plus the eShop itslef marks its release date as July 21 AKA, TODAY! Why are you playing with me Nintendo?? Just put the damn thing up!!
@TLink9: Exactly! It seems like lately with Capcom there is always criteria to get a game people really want. Like "Okay guys, if you really want this game we need you to buy this that and the other product and also sign up on our website and leave comments here, here, and here. If we get 10,000,000 whatevers then we'll consider giving you the game, MAYBE!!!" There is always some type of rallying people and telling us what to do or else they'll cancel a game. We shouldn't need to butt-kiss 24-7 just to get some decent releases Capcom! Also, I still like Capcom a lot. They are just really getting under my skin lately.
@Tendoboy: Well then, here is the other anti Capcom argument, There WAS interest in the game! So why did you cancel it claiming little interest!? And then have the audacity to blame your fans? See, no matter how you slice it, Capcam sort of botched this one
@Kaiser: Exactly what i was attempting to articulate. I'm sure TBD doesn't jump on her computer and say "I'm gonna get that Kaiser good!!" Maybe there is just some sub-concious negativity toward you. Did you and TBD ever have it out over something a long time ago?
@kurtasbestos: I think its less an issue with the cancellation (that's old news) and more an issue with the fact that Capcom has the nerve to cancel a project with little exposure in the first place and then tell the fans "ya know what? Blame yourselves! It your faults!"
@TBD: Just a thought I had. It isn't locking. I know nothing of any topics of his you've locked. I was reffering more to things you specifically post against him with this artical being the latest. Maybe I'm imagining things but as soon as I see it happen again, I'll pipe up and let you know
@TBD and Kaiser: Its not really my place to butt in....but I have sort of noticed you (TBD) may have some type of beef with Kaiser. I couldn't give any specific links but I remember on a few occasions thinking "Hmmm...seems like TBD has some problem with Kaiser." It just seems sometimes you have some type of axe to grind with Kaiser. Maybe a coincidence. Just an observation.
I'm not that pissed about the cancelation. I probabky wasn't gonna buy the game myself in the first place. But now this statement has put me off a bit. Studios cancel projects all the time, it happens. I even understand the reasoning. Its just kind of a dick move to come out and tell the fans it isn't Capcoms fault, it all of YOUR faults!!! Yeah, they gauged little interest in the project but they could have kind of....you know....given the poor thing a little exposure? The eShop demo would have been great for that. If they released that and it sold crappily then fine, there is no interest, cancel it. It just seems that if interest was the determining factor here, this poor thing never had a chance to begin with. Capcom has treated it like a sort of back-burner project from the start so Capcom, i submit that this is NOT the fans fault, it is YOUR fault. And how pitifull of you to place blame on your fanbase for your screw up. Shameful.
Really? This is an argument? Of course Nintendo has the strongest first-party line up of the big three! I didn't know this was a topic even up for debate. That's like trying to argue that Nintendo has the most powerful console out of the three. They simply don't. It can't be argued.
Man, this game looks ultra weird. That makes me feel like it won't get a Western release. I'm keeping hope alive though! I really hope they do decide to localize. I would very likely buy it as long as it didn't turn out ot be complete crap. This is Capcom we're talking about though so i'd say the chances of it being crap are slim.
Great update! I'm so happy about Netflix. I'm definitely getting G&W Gallery (so glad i skipped Qix last week!). Also, After Zoom looks very interesting. I'm not really sure if i wanna take the risk though. Wish it was 1.99. For that price i would get it without question!

Horrible idea. If Nintendo gave up their key franchises to all consoles, then there consoles would lose that edge. Don't listen to them Nintendo!

Why is Nintendo Video just "Coming Soon"? I was told here that it would be available plus the eShop itslef marks its release date as July 21 AKA, TODAY! Why are you playing with me Nintendo?? Just put the damn thing up!!
Re: Capcom Blames the Fans for Mega Man Legends 3 Cancellation
Re: Capcom Blames the Fans for Mega Man Legends 3 Cancellation
@Tendoboy: Well then, here is the other anti Capcom argument, There WAS interest in the game! So why did you cancel it claiming little interest!? And then have the audacity to blame your fans? See, no matter how you slice it, Capcam sort of botched this one
Re: Capcom Blames the Fans for Mega Man Legends 3 Cancellation
@Kaiser: Exactly what i was attempting to articulate. I'm sure TBD doesn't jump on her computer and say "I'm gonna get that Kaiser good!!" Maybe there is just some sub-concious negativity toward you. Did you and TBD ever have it out over something a long time ago?
Re: Capcom Blames the Fans for Mega Man Legends 3 Cancellation
@kurtasbestos: I think its less an issue with the cancellation (that's old news) and more an issue with the fact that Capcom has the nerve to cancel a project with little exposure in the first place and then tell the fans "ya know what? Blame yourselves! It your faults!"
Re: Capcom Blames the Fans for Mega Man Legends 3 Cancellation
@TBD: Just a thought I had. It isn't locking. I know nothing of any topics of his you've locked. I was reffering more to things you specifically post against him with this artical being the latest. Maybe I'm imagining things but as soon as I see it happen again, I'll pipe up and let you know
Re: Capcom Blames the Fans for Mega Man Legends 3 Cancellation
@TBD and Kaiser: Its not really my place to butt in....but I have sort of noticed you (TBD) may have some type of beef with Kaiser. I couldn't give any specific links but I remember on a few occasions thinking "Hmmm...seems like TBD has some problem with Kaiser." It just seems sometimes you have some type of axe to grind with Kaiser. Maybe a coincidence. Just an observation.
Re: Capcom Blames the Fans for Mega Man Legends 3 Cancellation
Shameful.
Re: Pachter Thinks Nintendo has Superior First-Party Software
Really? This is an argument? Of course Nintendo has the strongest first-party line up of the big three! I didn't know this was a topic even up for debate. That's like trying to argue that Nintendo has the most powerful console out of the three. They simply don't. It can't be argued.
Re: Here's How You Play Capcom's 3D Sound Game
Man, this game looks ultra weird. That makes me feel like it won't get a Western release. I'm keeping hope alive though! I really hope they do decide to localize. I would very likely buy it as long as it didn't turn out ot be complete crap. This is Capcom we're talking about though so i'd say the chances of it being crap are slim.
Re: Nintendo Download: 14th July 2011 (North America)
Great update! I'm so happy about Netflix. I'm definitely getting G&W Gallery (so glad i skipped Qix last week!). Also, After Zoom looks very interesting. I'm not really sure if i wanna take the risk though. Wish it was 1.99. For that price i would get it without question!
