Re: Smash Bros. ARMS Presentation To Take Place From The Comfort Of Sakurai's Home

@MrCerulean7 Because Sakurai said so? You know it's possible for him to lie.

"(Nintendo promoted upcoming titles that contained the Joker IP such as the port of Tokyo Mirage)"

There is no "Joker IP", and if you are talking about Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE, is Nintendo trying to market that game now? No. Now it's Pokemon & Animal Crossing.

"Publishing rights to the definitive edition and ports as well as other things"

From Dragon Quest 11's producer, the Hero is broken in Smash Bros. because "Sakurai likes Hero so much".

"due to a deal with Minecraft"

...

"Support from future SNK titles such as Samurai Shodown and the addition of the SNK library"

Because yeah, Nintendo wants to sell you $7 arcade ports of all the titles they have available on the eShop. Why?

"Nintendo's newest IP that sold 2 million that for some reason they keep sending out codes for the game as prizes in tournaments"

I can buy it second hand today for 8 USD. If they're giving it away, then clearly how much money can you actually make with the game today?

@AnnoyingFrenzy "Except it is isn't it, cause they did it."

They did it, which makes as much sense as Sakurai putting a fork in his toaster. You can, but does that mean you should? LOL The point of guest characters is so that you can sell the game to more people outside your current fanbase. That is how companies like Capcom, Namco, Tecmo Koei, SNK, NetherRealm and others make money with their fighting games. The DLC isn't just for the Smash die-hards.

"Look, I dont care about your hatred for Banjo or Microsoft, but crying about it 1 year later is a bit asinine dont you think?"

Then there's no need to have this article either. For a DLC character to get an "anniversary" is so hokey.

@quinnyboy58 "you sir are a Numpty! Banjo Kazooie is amazing and was revered by most people who played it for a reason. Hell there has even been several user created levels and a level editor created by it’s community."

Around the time Banjo-Kazooie was on the N64, you had Tomb Raider which was a far bigger success, and it had a level editor created by the developers for PC players.

"If Microsoft had any sense they would use their Rare IP it still holds a lot of value. Nuts and Bolts was just never the right idea, it would be like Zelda’s next mainline game being a Lego building game or something."

That's exactly why they wanted Banjo-Kazooie in Smash Bros. so that if they made another game again they'll know you'll buy a Series X. Bravo Nintendo.

I like how people praise this as a great achievement for Banjo-Kazooie. This character only panders to a vocal minority of fans that already owned the Smash Bros. product.

He's treated in the Nintendo bubble like he's Sonic the Hedgehog, yet records have indicated that he hasn't even sold no less than 7 million copies globally since 1998. These same fans even admit they refused to buy Nuts & Bolts.

Dragon Quest sold over 80 million copies as a franchise, so that's business as usual.

Re: Talking Point: The Time Is Right For Microsoft And Nintendo To Get Comfier With One Another

@graysoncharles They can sell their games on the eShop if they want like Cuphead. Then they'll have to compete with every other developer by selling games instead of services.

"And I don’t see the problem with that. And if Nintendo haven’t done the same for some of their franchises to gain more interest in the Switch and their own games, they are missing out."

Let's put Breath of the Wild and Smash Bros. Ultimate on X Box One & see how Nintendo fans feel.

Re: Talking Point: The Time Is Right For Microsoft And Nintendo To Get Comfier With One Another

@graysoncharles "Nintendo can negotiate with MS to recieve a kickback if they buy a game on game pass and xcloud to be used on the Switch."

You don't buy games on Game Pass. You buy the subscription and the game is free for a limited time. Developers only make money by having their games on Game Pass when Microsoft pays them a fixed amount of money at the start.

""Also, MS philosophy is changing. They are more focused now on selling softwares like azure and office, which are also compatible with Mac and android instead of forcing us to buy windows machines. They know that selling software on various machines and OSes is better in the long run"

They've been doing that for a long time. Their older games are also on Steam and Mac. Those old Halo games on Steam are simply designed to get gamers to crave Halo Infinite.

Re: Talking Point: The Time Is Right For Microsoft And Nintendo To Get Comfier With One Another

backup368

I oppose ALL of this.

Any semblance of an XBOX service where you play XBOX games on Switch would be devastating for Switch developers. If more gamers opt to use Game Pass over buying games at the eShop, that would cause Nintendo & its third parties to lose a ton of money, & then you have Wii U all over again. This would only be good for Microsoft considering that is who consumers would be constantly giving money to; not even for games, but services.

For that matter, Microsoft isn't going to put Banjo Kazooie or Rare Replay on Switch. They'd rather have you buy their system in order to play such games. That wouldn't make sense for them either.

Re: Masahiro Sakurai Says "It's A Total Blank Slate" After He Finishes Smash Bros. Ultimate's DLC

backup368

@Varkster "There have been many reported times when Sakurai didn't have a healthy sleeping schedule and was working crazy overtime hours to pass his deadlines."

From his own words.

"Instead of working on a new IP or something HE wants, Sakurai has been put into the Smash Bros hole for many years now."

He can simply choose not to. Super Smash Bros. Brawl started without him.

"but it's clear the man wants to start something from scratch."

Nothing's stopping him. He just wants to be sure that Fire Emblem is crammed down our throats every Smash iteration.

"It is a little disheartening that you're claiming directors have worked on "much bigger" games than this without providing any proof or experience. Seems like you just wanted to throw a jab at Sakurai honestly."

The only reason why people give him sympathy is because he constantly clamors for it. You herald how hard he works but, oh, he also says he played a total of 250 or so Playstation games in the past year? Enough.
