Again, Nintendo would lose much more than they would gain from it. Developers would then ask to get their games on Game Pass rather than Switch. Horrible idea.
@carlos82 It kinds of is. That is why this Game Pass was created in the first place, because sales for XBOX games were dropping. Tomb Raider games, at least the newer ones, anyway, are linear adventure games. The one from 2013 can be played on an Nvidia tablet.
@carlos82 It's totally not worth it. The fact that you're listing all those games gives people all the LESS reason to pay for another actual Switch game again. Port Tomb Raider to the Switch like every other developer has to. That is how Square would actually make money from it. They cannot make any more money than they already did by putting their title on Game Pass.
@Paddle1 It doesn't make sense to make your own store have to compete on your own platform. That would be like Blockbuster stores selling you Netflix subscriptions. There is no positive speculation. Oh, except for "I want Cuphead, I want Cuphead". That's all that matters, right?
@IceClimbers The XBOX Game Pass is what many people credit for saving the Xbox One, because many consumers have seen the Xbox One as an afterthought in favor of the PS4. It's good for Microsoft because it's not another company's service that is making money; it's their own. Microsoft is looking to piggyback off of Nintendo, while it addresses a problem that barely exists, and in turn, creates an even bigger problem.
If Project xCloud is also being worked on for smartphones, then all you need is just a compatible Xbox controller, and possibly an external battery. With that said, you won't need to even get a Switch to play Xbox one games portably. People will always seek the value, just like how it's more affordable to get the Game Pass, over paying for each game on the eShop.
@Kainbrightsidein Yes. We need to stream. On a portable console that already is dedicated to running video games.
@Paddle1 "The Switch isn't powerful enough to run all games that PS4 and Xbox can, with this, the Switch should be able to run next gen games that it wouldn't have been able to, preventing it from getting left behind."
You don't know what you are talking about. Nintendo would make loads more money if developers just ported their games to the Switch rather than becoming some second/third hand beneficiary. Power should hardly be a concern at this point, considering that you have games like Warframe and Doom.
"If it isn't feasible to port then it can be on game pass instead of not getting it at all, making Switch all around more accessible for devs. Switch exclusive games also will not be on Game Pass, so that shouldn't be a problem either."
You don't know how this works. Game Pass is for games that Microsoft already paid developers to have in their library. Square Enix already made a lump sum off of Shadow of the Tomb Raider. They don't make money for how often their titles are played or downloaded.
By the way, what your implying is that Microsoft wouldn't even have to develop their own portable console in order to make a fortune in the portable console business.
@Kainbrightside
"Trust me anything that ends up happening Nintendo will be getting a nice chunk of change."
They easily could make tons more money should fans simply continue to support their eShop offerings. There is no comparison.
@EVIL-C What's wrong with what the Switch has currently? I think you fail to understand that this would be completely counterproductive to Switch's momentum.
@retro_player_22 Microsoft would be the only beneficiary from this. They get the money from consumers, the consumers would be playing their games, Nintendo would get pennies from subscriptions compared to dollars that they currently earn from each eShop game.
Consumers would see real value in the Game Pass. More time streaming games on the Game Pass means less time browsing, buying and playing actual Switch games. This could potentially change the spending habits of a lot of consumers, and this would put third party relations in jeopardy...again.
By the way, Microsoft is also looking to allow you to stream games on smartphones and tablets, so cloud gaming is definitely something they are striving for.
@SamusLv7 "both Microsoft and Nintendo both wins in the process?"
How? Nintendo & its developers lose money, less fans would buy actual Switch games. They would win?
"Nintendo knows that he is one of the most voted characters in the Smash poll of Smash 4, which is the responsible for King K. Rool being in Smash Ultimate."
False. King K. Rool is only a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate because he is what the roster had been severely lacking in: A superheavyweight.
Making the eShop compete with a service that another company created is bad for business.
Nintendo''s third party developers and indy developers would take quite a hit from this. If you can get 100+ XBOX One games for 10 bucks a month, then who is going to want to buy a $20 indy game again? I can't believe fans are willing to throw the Switch's third party support under the bus like this. All this damage isn't worth it just because of Cuphead or Banjo-Kazooie. C'mon people.
This would be AWFUL for Nintendo. You don't want this.
Why would you want the eShop competing on it's own console with Xbox's streaming service?
No one would want to buy a 20-euro indy game from the eShop again. Consumers would see real value in the game pass, with 100 AAA games to stream for a low monthly fee.
People would change their spending habits, they'll spend less on indy titles and 3rd party titles, eShop sales will stagger, Nintendo and 3rd parties will lose money, while Microsoft is the best-selling entity on NINTENDO'S platform. Microsoft knows EXACTLY what they're doing. They want to gouge Nintendo of their money, fanbase, and momentum.
Neither is it doubtful that this game is coming to the Switch, but neither is all the other mature rated games. They just don't feel confident that they would sell well on a "kiddy" machine. They overlook that we could be playing Far Cry & Assassin's Creed anywhere on the go, but nope. Filling their games with excessive cussing is too important to them.
Disappointed in Ubisoft because not one M rated game was announced for the Switch. I mean, if you can play Assassin's Creed, South Park, Farcry 5, Skull and Bones, & more on a console that you can take anywhere with you, then that should be more important than kiddos that stumble into playing a mature game or lack of M rated game sales.
If it's only for Nintendos first party games, then it's good. The third party's presentations can reveal any 3rd party Switch games. Remember last year? Ubisoft & their 2 hour abomination?
Nintendo is running out of credible 3rd party characters when you think about it. One void that has yet to be filled are characters that came from outside of Japan. As much as I like to play Shovel Knight & Shantae, why should they have such honors? Not many western franchises have stood the test of time & have had a vast history on Nintendo platforms, but there have been two from different regions, that being Ubisoft's Rayman & Scorpion from Mortal Kombat.

@Baart This first instance of guns in Mortal Kombat was 1995 with Stryker in Mortal Kombat 3.

@Baart Well Cassie Cage is an infantry unit, Erron Black is a cowboy, why would either of them use magic?

@Baart Projectiles are nothing new to Mortal Kombat; they've had fireballs and energy balls since MK1.
